I saw the video for Clay Aiken's single - and I liked it.  I think MATTH and a couple of other DR's have the CD....if I like Clay's voice on his single, do you think I will like the CD?

I most recently bought Josh Groban's new CD and I like it.

My sister Molly downloaded a Vancouver concert by Canuckistan band The Tea Party....any DR's familiar with this band?

JRand--

Just wanted to let you know I got PhotoShop Elements 2.0 today at Sam's Club ( I had to rejoin the club but oh well) for $52.87.  That's a far cry from what it was going for on Amazon.com and from what I read on E-bay, I wasn't sure if I would get the book with whatever I bought.  It looked like it would just be the disk and for this type of program, I wanted the whole thing.

I'm way to tired to try it out tonight but have a whole nice long vacation coming up (I'm taking the week after Thanksgiving off)  to give it a try!

And congrats on nailing the audition, DRMaya!

Oh, golly, whoopee, gee!  I see KCET has scheduled OKLAHOMA as the lure for their pledge-break pimping, which means they'll be breaking into the show ad nauseam to huckster us and a show I saw in its original London production in probably under three and half hours will take me four hours to see tonight.

I should just wait for the tape to come out.

Oddly, enough when I first saw the show, I was getting tickets for both it and David Suchet's revival of AMADEUS.  I sort of did a coin toss on which night I'd see them.  I picked the wrong night.  I should have reversed them.  As we were walking back over Waterloo Bridge that night, having come from the Old Vic where AMADEUS was playing, we noticed a crowds and a bit of a commotion around the theatre...just off the Strand...where OKLAHOMA was playing.  It was the Queen and Prince Phillip coming out of the show.  Though we got to gawk at them just like all the other rubberneckers, if I had just switched nights, we would have gotten to attend a royal performance.  C'est la vie!

I'm sitting down for the first time today. This move has taken a full month out of my life - but I'm almost done. The last box was unpacked yesterday. An entire box of wine glasses. I hardly ever drink, so why do I have so many wine glasses??? Next week, I hope to actually write again. As I recall, that's what I used to do for a living before moving became my profession and Bed, Bath and Beyond, my second home. I never knew there were so many different types of space-saver shelving units! Tonight I'm looking forward to doing absolutely nothing. Lying around, reading, listening to music. I have very lttle food in the house, but am too tired to make a trip to the grocery store. I may improvise - lox, hard boiled egg, cole slaw, and apple. And in the mail today I received two chocolate coins from the Garrick Club in London. I may eat them for dessert. Life is good.

Wow...I get back expecting a plethora of posts, and this is all we have?  But the posts that are here are wonderful.  Andrea,  I loved the blow by blow.  I'm sure you've told us, but what exactly were you at?  Sounded like a cross between a Southern ball and a Scottish hoe down.
I just attended a composition read-through at school, where some of the student composers had people read through their works.  I read through a little song that my friend Eugen composed.  A pretty, rather odd, little thing.  I got comments on how I made singing all those strange harmonic progressions sound so easy.  Yay me...
Then I found out there was a goof up in scheduling, and my recital, which I wanted on the 1st of December, is on the books for the 3rd...oy...

Welcome home, DRPanni!  Remember you need a new broom and a new box of salt.  DO NOT take and OLD broom or old Salt into your new home, otherwise superstition is you won't stay there a year!

Throw that broom out the back door....right now!!

DR Jrand53 - The Hungarian superstition is that first visitors are supposed to bring bread and salt. Does a whisk broom count? I haven't got room for a big broom in here, anyway. It's in the garage. I needed the small broom to sweep up the wine glass I broke. One less glass to find a place for. Not staying more than a year in a place doesn't seem that horrible a curse. BTW - I just wired up my new small speakers (had to get rid of the big ones - took up too much room). The dog is playing along with Antonio Carlos Jobim on his new squeak toy. I bought him a new bed today at a very ritzy dog store. But I see him in the other room -- on MY bed.

Not only does no one like our story, we've got fershluganah WRITERS here - shame, or skammen if you're Swedish.

We are on our way to a new low unless we get a real pick-me-up here soon.  The errant and truant will have to pay for this, I'm afraid.  And it will be quite a price.

Guess there weren't many tracks on the Chris Cross Cd Ron! $2 per track?

Wrong guess.  19 tracks.

Lots of people have won Tonys against people from their own show in the same category. Just last year, Jane Krakowski won for NINE while sharing the category with two other ladies from her show, one of whom was a Broadway legend (Chita Rivera). Nathan Lane beat out Matthew Broderick in THE PRODUCERS a couple of years ago as well. I think in the case of the Tonys, voters pick the PERSON they would like to see win regardless of the show. Now, I'm not saying Donna Murphy won't win (though I feel Julie Andrews would have won that Tony if she hadn't made such a big deal about not being considered), and Kristin already has a Tony which MIGHT keep people from voting for her (though it didn't hurt Audra McDonald her second and third time winning). But she got such rapturous reviews that I'd say she seems the likely front runner rather than Murphy. Of course, Murphy's show hasn't opened yet, and her reviews could be equally ecstatic. Should be an interesting contest this year.

Hang the reviews...Idina Menzel's name will be read when the Tony is presented.

I have Clay Aiken's cd. I really like him. There are a few songs on the cd that are catchy. But I think overall most DRs have felt that they weren't thrilled with the music selection.

I am looking forward to seeing him on Tuesday's American Idol special.

Btw, has anyone heard the new AI holiday cd yet?

Just checking TV schedules, and neither the Seattle nor Spokane PBS stations are airing Oklahoma tonight.  But, the Seattle affiliate is finally airing Broadway's Lost Treasures, so that's good.

Actually.. that's a pretty good description. It was the St. Andrew's Ball held by my local St. Andrew's Society complete with southern style debutantes.

Quite amusing.

You must have posted this answer at the same time I posted my question.  But what exactly is a St. Andrew's Ball. I never knew such events were taking place right in my own backyard. Which hotel was it at?

19 greatest hit tracks Ron! Of course there were 14 bonus tracks. (BTW I do like Chris Cross and his songs but I am always a touch cynical  about  the repackaging of album tracks etc as greatest hits $$$$). I was just having fun. The best that I can do.

Silly me, turns out the Seattle affiliate is showing Oklahoma... in fact it's in the middle of Act II right now.  Never thought to look at listings for 4pm!

It was an amusing account, as well.  I do hope your father is all right and that you've calmed your worrying about the incident.

If you will forgive me, I couldn't help feeling -- while reading the account -- that the escort who was drinking from the flask before the ball must have been sitting there typing for you as you dictated.

I'm sure, though, you were very tired.  Been there, done that!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Yes, I did get it actually.  Mr. Cross must  have been far more popular here than in Oz, though.  I will confess, though, the title is "The Very Best of Christopher Cross", which I'm sure lends itself to more observations!   ;D

I quite like a lot of what he sang, but this is the first album I've bought with his songs.

The voice on the phone was saying repeatedly:

"Dead men tell no tales!
Dead men tell no tales!"

Penelope let out a scream!

Quite suddenly, a pocket of cold air enveloped her. And an image took shape...an image of a young woman.

"Penelope," she intoned. "You are wearing a very special pair of socks.  I spun the wool that made the threads used for tatting the lace.  And the wool came from my beloved sheep, Annabel.

"This was 10 years ago, Penelope, and you must help me!

"I saw someone taking my Annabel one night and I ran from this house, screaming at him to release her.

"Someone grabbed me from behind and threw me down.  My head hit a paving stone, and I died.

"You must learn who did this and reveal it to the authorities.

"I have a clue....the last thing I heard before I fell was 'Shut her up, Morgan, and...'"

The image wavered and vanished.  Penelope looked down and discovered that she had...
