TOD:

Ah, Sir Sean Connery! A kind of Michael Caine without the comeback.

In addition to all the good movies mentioned in previous posts by DRs, I will list a few that are good performances in good/decent movies, good performances in horrible movies, and WT[bleep] performances in WT[bleep] movies:
[N.B. I stopped seeking out Sean Connery after 1989, which was his last really good performance in the true ending to the Indiana Jones trilogy, before Lucas and Ford got greedy and made the very forgettable and unnecessary 4th which while pregnant with 20+ years of ideas was DOA. Besides, for me Shia LaBeouf is a nonstarter and possible detraction to any movie, etc.]

The list follows.

TOD continued:

Darby O'Gill and the Little People
Not a bad live action Disney and far better than The Gnome Mobile. Early decent Sir Sean with early version of hairpiece.
Blu-ray has not been kind to Sir Sean's hairline. In some of the James Bond movies the join between the hair and scalp is easily seen.

Marnie
Sir Sean was acting out Hitch's desires in the way Tippi Hedren was treated. Far too simplistic tacked-on Freudian ending. Tippi should have quit while she was ahead with The Birds.

Shalako
Terrible European-based non-Spaghetti Western. Bombastic, yet catchy theme song, which you will hum in spite of yourself. Must have been made to have a vacation in Spain. Fascinating if you like slo-mo wrecks.

Molly Maguires
Not a great film, but decent with a great Mancini score that I think saves the picture. Ham-handed message.

Zardoz
Wrote about this yesterday. Like this one, can't explain it or why I like it. Look for the actor who is obviously channeling Paul McCartney, but is it an in-joke?

More to follow [thank you Johnny Carson].

TOD continued:

Murder on the Orient Express
One of the great 1970s ensemble cast pictures. Really Albert Finney's all the way, but Sir Sean is credible in a smaller part.

Meteor
Here's a true disaster in every way. Terrible performances by everyone. Probably all of the leads were heavily drinking. Music's not too bad though, in a disaster way.

Outland
High Noon in space. Sir Sean phones in his performance. Some interesting concepts. This seems to have prepared the effects units for Total Recall. Not even Jerry Goldsmith can save this one; not one of my favorite Goldsmith scores.

Time Bandits
Ambitious movie. Typically overlong Gilliam (sometimes too much is too much). Sir Sean is okay, nothing great, Sean-in-charge role. Really should have been Robin Hood to quote Robin and Marian. Have to be in the mood to go on this ride.

Final installment of TOD:

Almost chronological, the three worst (remember I gave up on Sir Sean after 1989):

Sword of the Valiant
I know it's a cult fave, but this is a great example of the poor state of affairs of British films at the time. Lots of big names making a big commotion. A mess. But if you like that kind of thing, you'll wonder how many painkillers were they giving out at the start of a shooting day.

Never Say Never Again
I know there are fans of this film out there, but they should have realized when they used that title they shouldn't have taken it literally. I don't know what people see in this retread of Thunderball, one of the weaker original Bonds (with an awesome John Barry score that saves its hide) to begin with. I like Michel Legrand, but his score here is really more suited to a polite lunch of water cress sandwiches.

The Name of the Rose
WT[bleep]? Christian Slater's mom got him into this movie. He sleepwalks his way through this byzantine plot and way too dark photography. Too much ugliness without which you realize this plot is so thin, even Sherlock Holmes's pipe could have deduced what happened. Dreadful.

Just have to add: The Avengers was a great TV show. Why did Sir Sean have to ruin its memory with whatever they consider a movie version with Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman. What a stupid, horrible movie with a really bad Sean Connery. PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE A REAL "THE AVENGERS" MOVIE (NO. IT'S NOT MARVEL, IT'S EMMA PEEL AND JOHN STEED.)

These are my opinions and do not reflect any official stance by anyone else here.

Well, my rattlesnake deterrent failed today. I USED to be able to say I never saw one when I had my camera. I guess May in the desert in the 80's was just too much to expect the camera to protect me from.

Luckily there was a family with three children nearby who were able to come see their first snake when I called to them that I found one.

The first time I saw when when I moved out here did take me by surprise. My friend's brother fortunately was using a fence post hole-maker at the time which turned out to have a multipurpose as a snake eradicator. Only one of us was hurt, and none were the humans or dogs.

The scariest incident I have had with wildlife was when I was within 10 feet of a mountain lion, looked more like a lynx to me but what do I know? What a beautiful animal, but boy did I freeze in my spot until it decided to move along in the opposite direction. It probably had me within its striking distance. While I was observing it during my moment of nonmovement, I realized why people have used their fur. There's no denying how beautiful and warm it would be to wear. There's no better place though to leave it where it is, on the feline. Definition of dangerous beauty.

Many of the films previously mentioned are Sean Connery favorites of mine, but I will just add another vote for SHALAKO.....a strange western with a strange cast.....

The evil woman in the film played by Honor Blackman is killed by Indians in a gruesome way.......she is made to swallow the diamonds she has coveted throughout the entire film....which of course she is unable to do without suffocating....

I've seen a few bobcats, DanM. Mountain lions would be very hard to find.

Anna has not been on DWTS for a while.  But I do like her a lot.

Thank you, Cilla!   We had a Virgil's lunch, which was really the size of a dinner and was  loads of tasty fun (we don't have Virgil's often enough).  Skip's making a special-request cake for me.

That's plenty of excitement, as I've been hooked on the goings-on in Baltimore today after missing so much of it during the work days this past week.
