Where's Sing? Is he still sick?

DAW (nee Sing) should be doing his Sunday singing if he is not sick; otherwise, he would be at home sighing.

DR Pogue mentions EGBDF!  Wow!  I thought I was the only person in the world who knew about that one--I've had that LP for years.  Did it every make it to CD-ism?

JMK,

I too have the LP.  I picked it up for a dollar in a store in LA once.  Never got around to playing it until a year ago when a friend converted all my records to CD (I don't think there's been a commercial CD).  I did not think you could improve on the record which was performed by Ian McKellen, Ian Richardson, and Patrick Stewart...all three brilliant voices...but seeing it live was a treat!  I thought it odd or maybe just fortuitous that shortly after having listened to the album I should get a chance to see a performance of the same play.

Is the recording abridge or the whole play? I also own the LP but haven't listened to it for a very long time

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ WELL-HUNG WALLPAPER VIBES FOR DR CILLALIZ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

LOL,thanks TD.  Right after I signed off I remembered that Mercy Heart Hospital was putting on a Heart health expo today and I decided to go.  It was really interesting.  I got a mini carotid artery ultrasound - "it looks beautiful" . Had my blood pressure checked - "it's fabulous" got a free coupon for a cholesterol and glucose check, sat in on a cooking class about the Mediterranean Heart diet.  He made salmon sauteed in olive oil and sauteed vegetables - also in olive oil.

I went to the room where they demo an open heart surgery.  It's with dummys not humans, but was pretty interesting to actually see how it's done up close.   They also had an open question session with a cardiologist that was very interesting and they had other things like listening to your pulse vial ultrasound, a display of pacemakers, a visit to the cardio rehab center (They have a fabulous view while they are riding and walking).

It was really interesting.  I got some freebie giveaways and found out my BMI has gone down about 6 points since I started my diet.  I was very impressed with the whole day.  I've gone to similar things in gyms or whatever, but this one was all in the actual hospital and there were doctors and cardiologists answering questions not just interns or residents.  I was also pleased that all the screening I did do came out very positive.

When I came home I hung most of the wall paper in that bathroom.  I'm just SO sick of that room and I was hungry, so I took a break.   I've considered just leaving the whole mess until tomorrow, but I'm really very close to being done, so I'll go back later and do it.   Then I get to clean...oh joy

I am still agog at the fluffy bits being displayed on the National Stage.

Tne big scandal about 1980 at the National was the Howard Brenton play ROMANS IN BRITAIN which had complete nudity and Roman soldiers raping naked young British lads. The uproar was over subsidizing such "filth."

NEWS OF THE WORLD

14-times Olympic gold medal winner Michael Phelps caught with cannabis pipe

By Georgina Dickinson, 01/02/2009
THIS is the astonishing picture which could destroy the career of the greatest competitor in Olympic history.

In our exclusive photo Michael Phelps, who won a record EIGHT gold medals for swimming at the Beijing games last summer, draws from a bong.

The glass pipes are generally used to smoke cannabis.

And after sporting chiefs announced laws which mean four-year bans for drug-taking, Phelps’ dreams of adding to his overall 14 gold medal tally at the 2012 games in London could already be OVER.

PHELPS CALLS PHOTO OF HIM SMOKING MARIJUANA 'REGRETTABLE'

TAMPA, Fla. —  Olympic great Michael Phelps has acknowledged "regrettable" behavior and "bad judgment" after a photo in a British newspaper showed him smoking marijuana.

In a statement released to The Associated Press, the swimmer who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games conceded the authenticity of the exclusive picture published Sunday by the tabloid News of the World.
Phelps said: "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again."

"Sorry" might not be enough.

That could be the most expensive "hit" in history.

Well, for God's sake, he's a 23 year-pld jock, not some brain surgeon. No one said the kid was sensible, just a damned good swimmer.

Matt H I am very impressed you have gone TWO MONTHS without chocolate.  I should strive to be as good as you are.  I have been slowly reducing the amount of chocolate I eat (don’t want to go through withdrawal).  I get so sick when I eat too much chocolate you would think it would be easy to give up.

I decided that would be part of my diet plan. It was easier to give up than I thought though, I must admit, if I had some around the house, I'd be tempted to give it a taste. (Well, I do have brownie mix on the shelf, but I keep that in case someone asks me to bring a dessert to a dinner party at the last minute.)

I got a phone call right before I was going to head downstairs, and it kept me tied up for almost an hour, so I got WAY behind again on my afternoon schedule. Managed to get most things done I had planned, but I had to scurry around more than I like to.

DR Danise - hang in there, it's never as easy or a quick as you hope it will be and usually something comes up you didn't expect, no matter who is doing the work.  I think it's fabulous you are going to have a wonderful place to go home to.  Sounds like Sheena is in a good place.

While I ate lunch, I watched Friday night's MONK. It was a mystery done in the COLUMBO-style, my least favorite kind of mystery except when Columbo does it.

Next, I watched THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL. It is a weird allegorical work, or a big joke on pretentious critics who try to read insight into what is meant to be simply a weird tale. Not quite sure what I make of it. Will have to think some more on it before I start writing it up.

The transfer looked very nice for the most part, but the sound was fairly weak, filled with hiss and some early phasing problems during the credits.

Mmm, the smell of meat loaf is wafting through the apartment. In about 15 minutes I will begin steaming the green beans and boiling the potatoes.

It's a two disc set, and the only other item on the first disc was the trailer which makes the movie look like it might be a murder mystery. What a joke!

The second disc has the other bonus items. The first is a biographical documentary on Buñuel that's actually longer than the film itself! I got about forty minutes of it watched with 58 minutes left. It looked like there were two other features on the disc which I'll also watch when I go back down. I should have some time tonight to watch some of the other stuff on the DVR.

I went to the room where they demo an open heart surgery.  It's with dummys not humans, but was pretty interesting to actually see how it's done up close.

Couldn't Iowa spare one pig for a demo? (I bet Seattle Grace would do it!)

Jumping off-line now to do some writing and then much go clean my bathroom, put away the folded laundry, and then get back to the documentary on Luis Buñuel.

And according to my printed script - but the Internet says "lonely". Do we believe the old-fashioned paper-ink media, or the new techology?

DR Matt H, I'm still impressed you gave up chocolate.  Have you lost weight on your diet or is it just to eat healthy?
