I was flipping channels and on one of the PBS channels, they have a "musical tour of Russia" with Helmut Lotti.  If you don't know who he is, he's a Begian singer with a wonderful trained voice.  Anyway, he was singing this one song called "Kalinka" and the video scenario that he sang it in was a wedding.  So just out of curiosity, I turned on the subtitles and they had what appeared to be the correct lyrics.  But what struck me (mainly, because I'd never thought about it before) was when he sang "HEY" (as it's spelled in English), it was spelled "CHEJ."  Interesting, huh? ;D

Here's a picture of Helmut:

And only two more episodes EVER of SIX FEET UNDER. I cannot believe these marvelous shows are ending one after another.

Do people really look at their post totals? The only time I glance over there is when someone mentions his total, and I get curious what mine is.

I only mention it when I notice it, which (hopefully) isn't that often.  I don't look for it, though.  It just popped out at me, so I mentioned it. ::)

Kind of reminds me of the long ago karma totals which I also never glanced at unless someone else mentioned something about it.

That seems like a century ago that there was karma.

That's right!  I'd totally forgotten about that...and the trouble it (sort of) caused that BK removed the option. ;)

I've read almost 100 pages in the John Schlesinger biography today. Quite wonderful thus far. Madonna and Rupert Everett certainly don't come off looking so hot in it.

I didn't like "Little Shop of Horrors." Too weird for me. Great performances from the actors, though.

Good Evening!

And just when I thought this day couldn't get any better, I happened to get a response to an e-mail I sent out earlier in the week.  Through the assistance of DR Jason, I was able to secure an e-mail address for a friend of mine from high school - who I haven't seen since high school. I can honestly say that he was my inspiration - without him as a role model, I seriously doubt I would have started down the road to a career in music, making music.  I've mentioned him, Bryan Louiselle, before in one of those "long lost friends" topics, and a couple of DRs even managed to come up with an address for him.  Well, in this day and age, an e-mail address turned out to be a surer bet than snail mail address, so...  While Googling a couple of days ago, I found out that Bryan has been working on the Disney shows for MTI's Broadway, Jr. series, so...  And then it turned out that DR Jason knew him, so...  In any case...

What a great way to wrap up the day!  And once I'm back in the city, and once his ever-crazy schedule eases up, we're going to get together.

And in "it's a small world" category, it turns out he's buddies with Roger Rees - I guess they must have met during those tumultuous rehearsals and previews for The Red Shoes - Bryan was the assistant conductor, and Roger was the original Boris Lermontov.  So, Bryan passed on a special greeting that I'm supposed to greet Roger with the next time I see him.  Hmm... We shall see.  ;)

In any case... It's so nice connecting with him again - even if it's just through an e-mail at this point and time.  -Even the air feels cooler now.

:)

Oh...

Just got an e-mail from the stage manager... Due to some scheduling issues, they had to flip the schedule for tomorrow.  Instead of doing our run-thru at 5:00, we will now be doing it at 11:00 - with our call being at 10:00 to run some small spots beforehand.

And the powers that be will be in attendance.  Including Roger Rees.

Guess I should think about getting to bed soon...

Fast forward (or backward) to Monday in Burbank...I rented a car Sunday evening and drove all over the place! On Monday I motored over the hill to Los Angeles to visit my interviewee Carolyn Kearney (star of THING THAT COULDN'T DIE, HOT ROD GIRL, and DAMN CITIZEN). Carolyn had suffered a heart attack last December and had to endure heart by-pass surgery. She is doing much better now which was a huge relief to me as she is such a sweetheart and I adore her. I drove to her apartment and had coffee with her, her husband Al, and their wonderful dog Koda (who I have threatened to take back to Oregon with me on more then one occasion).

Carolyn is holding an award she received from the Pasadena Playhouse. the Playhouse contacted her after my interview with her was published in Filmfax magazine. She attended the Playhouse in the early 50s, and CBS (I think it was) even did a television documentary on her while she was a student there.

I don't recall what the award was for, but she was quite thrilled by it, and I was thrilled for her.

Before visiting with Carolyn, Al, and Koda, I drove over to Sherbourne Ave, which was only a few blocks from Carolyn's apartment building.

Sherbourne Ave. as some may recall is where our own BK spent his childhood...and here is the house in which he lived!

Pt. Defiance Park, which is Tacoma's version of Central Park is about a block and a half from my apartment.  Tonight it is apparently their turn to play host to Movies in the Park, where they show family films outdoors on big screens in various parks in the city.  Tongiht they are showing THE MUSIC MAN.  Unfortunately, the dialogue is just a notch below my hearing level, but the musical numbers are coming through the window loud and clear!!!

And here, just a short walk from BKs childhood abode, is the corner of Sherbourne and, I think it was, 18th. BK is that correct?

I tried to get the lovely lass walking her dogs in the shot, for the hetero males in the audience.

It was a nice, neat, quiet neighborhood and I walked around it for a few blocks.

Yep, Sherbourne and 18th.  I would walk east up 18th holding my cardboard TV camera and pretending I was doing a live TV show.
