Well, you've read the notes, the notes well went, and now it is time for you to post until the well went cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ARCTOPHILE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Last night, I went to the sing-through of the score of Legally Blonde to hear the whole score by this cast (I enjoyed them very much), but also hopefully to talk to the director and/or the stage manager. Well, neither if them were there. :P I didn't know that beither would be there. Oh, well. I'll send an e-mail with my questions sometime tomorrow.
-
After I came home, I started playing Yoshi's Island on my mini SNES Classic and just lost track of time. ::)
-
From last night, thanks Fred and John for your comments on the article about Legally Blonde (https://www.thurstontalk.com/2018/07/31/broadway-olympia-team-of-local-talents-busy-preparing-for-inaugural-show-legally-blonde/)!
-
And now, bedtime.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all
-
No "Evil Eye" tomorrow?
-
Good morning, all!
-
Too warm, too humid, and I'm not sleeping well.

T.O.D.
Not sure if they're on this weekend or next week, but the cable channels will soon be showing FILM STARS DON'T DIE IN LIVERPOOL and MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, so we'll be watching those.
I still don't understand why they remade ORIENT EXPRESS. The original was a perfect film.
If you want to do an Agatha Christie, there are plenty of other stories out there.
-
Nice links yesterday....I particularly enjoyed reading about the show DR GEORGE is doing and the Johnny Mathis interview was very good....thanks DR JOHN G.
Johnny Mathis was Annette's favorite singer! She mentioned that several times in interviews....
His "Greatest Hits" and "On Broadway" LP's are two of my favorites of all time.....
-
We did Act One and Act Two, Scene One, last night....this play is really very funny - and MY cast gets it....I am very pleased with the results thus far....
I myself laughed several times....and I added two bits that I am sure MR BK would have thought of himself....that got many chuckles from all of us....including a pun that Mr. Simon himself must have considered, but then thought better of.....
-
I am working on the story for Beauty and the Beast that will go out over the media in the next couple of days - now that I have the FULL cast/staff/crew list....
And then I shall work on the unwieldy slide show.....44 slides....44!!

Magnificat's latest update on little Mego:
Mego is making enormous progress!
He is 100% eating on his own, so that feeding tube is coming out. He is active and curious and so handsome.
-
Friday morning greetings! After being up and outta here early Wednesday and Thursday, I'm enjoying a very slow start today.
-
Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. Rebecca and I had an early breakfast date and a nice long visit. Got home just as the news broke that there was an emergency unfolding at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near here, so I turned on the TV and got engrossed with the coverage. Turns out to have been a training exercise that went sideways and there was no actual emergency, but it was interesting to watch.
-
Good
morning almost noon!
-
So, the afternoon storms cleared in time to get the stage dry and set everything else up, and we had a beautiful first act on a beautiful evening. It was a damned good show. Following intermission, the Entr'acte and Fully Dressed proceeded nicely, then at the very top of the FDR scene...
The deluge.
This was my first time to have to deal with the frantic packing up of instruments and getting everything back to shelter. It got done, but it didn't become one of my favorite things.
Same thing could happen this evening. Or it could be worse beforehand and the show gets called. Or who knows. The forecasts change by the hour.
The joys of outdoor theatre.
-
Wonderful news about little Mego.
-
I have to take Chester to the groomer in a half hour.
That's going to be fun.
::)
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep and must get ready now to be on my way to blunch.
-
Good morning, all. Posted with nine minutes to spare.
-
More vibes for TCB’s niece.
-
Thanks, Elmore, for sharing the Mego news.

TOD:
If I get the chance, I’ll watch One-Trick Pony to go with the Paul Simon bio I just finished.

Here's something I might have asked before, but the subject has come up again and without looking back through old posts...
I've been offered the chance to MD a local production of "A Year With Frog and Toad". I don't know the show, and as far as I know, I haven't heard a note of the music. So, first, is it clearly worth doing? I see positive things posted about it, but I want y'all's opinions.
Also, MTI says it calls for a cast of five and a seven-piece band: 2 reeds, 1 trumpet (w/piccolo trumpet), 1 trombone, guitar, bass (and tuba), percussion, and apparently no keyboard. Since I know this small venue can't accommodate the seven pieces, I'd appreciate any thoughts on a reduction, or even the feasibility of a piano/bass/drums realization. (If this score would lose to much in the transformation, maybe I wouldn't want to be the one putting it out there.)
Thanking y'all in advance.

My friend Frank was in it but I never saw it. I think you need to listen to the recording ASAP.

Just purchased and downloaded it, so I'll be listening today or tomorrow.

It’s a charming little show. It could be quite entertaining or twee, depending on the director.

I've enjoyed the cast recording and really enjoyed a local production a few years ago. It went over very well! I'd recommend the show, but I don't know anything about playing the score.

Can you stay with him?

DR TCB did your niece have the second/third surgery and is there an opinion regarding the success of it?

So, back in June, Playbill.com posted this set of photos: First Look at Titanic Set in Water at Serenbe Playhouse (http://www.playbill.com/article/first-look-at-titanic-set-in-water-at-serenbe-playhouse). Their production was actually set in a lake!
-
Then last month, there was this article: See the Latest Photos of Titanic at Serenbe Playhouse (http://www.playbill.com/article/see-the-latest-photos-of-titanic-at-serenbe-playhouse). This has actual production photos, not just publicity pics.
-
I remember that I had seen the first Playbill above link when I just happened to come acros this video just this morning: 'Titanic' musical literally sinks the ship (https://my.xfinity.com/video/titanic-musical-literally-sinks-the-ship/1290714691999/Comcast/TopVideos).
-
Then I searched YouTube and found this video of highlights from the theater company's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYGpVpPqDjQ), which looks like the footage used in the news report (above).
-
And this 16 1/2 minute documentary on the musical: Sinking The Titanic: A Documentary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU78EGjZLHY).
Pretty cool!
-
Evidently, their production of Miss Saigon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUhTCzN42nk) had a real helicopter! You can see it for just a moment at 1:26.
-
Back from a long and wonderful lunch with Nick and a friend of his. Traffic was decent coming home but terrible going there. Then I just went to the nearby Sherman Oaks branch of my bank - they are the WORST. I couldn't believe it - not one place to park lines six deep at every single teller machine and I can only imagine what it must have been like inside. This branch is hopeless, so after my haircut I'll go to Studio City and do it there because it's much better there always.
-
And of course I arrived to find this site completely down. Took forever for someone to respond to me about it, but seems to be fine now.
-
Hello!
-
I'm leaving for The Big Apple in the morning (at least I hope so--there were lots of flights cancelled today).
-
I'm meeting former DR Ben and his DH Anthony at Good Stuff Diner (109 West 14th Street) at 11:00 am Sunday. Any locals care to join us?
-
More vibes for TCB's niece.
-
I gather we were down for about an hour.
-
Good afternoon.

Continued vibes for TCB's niece.

My son ate durian once. Once.

SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES FOR DR KEVIN!

I'm meeting former DR Ben and his DH Anthony at Good Stuff Diner (109 West 14th Street) at 11:00 am Sunday. Any locals care to join us?
Have fun and please say hello from me.
-
My son ate durian once. Once.
;D
-
We enjoyed a lovely short, perfect weather, evening walk.
-
Well, I'm off. I'm meeting my friend Margo for dinner at Chipotle. I haven't been in quite a while. I didn't like it the last time, but I'm trying it again. We'll see how it is this time. ;)
Be back later.
-
Durian ain't for the faint of heart. Or anyone gifted with a sense of smell.
-
Tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the year: Rambling Rose' at Becker Vineyards in the Hill Country. A half-dozen or so of us sit for two sessions on a panel and discuss my favorite wine. It's always wonderful, and the crowd has grown consistently. Both panels are already sold out. And I know of several who have been before and plan to return.
-
But I still have to get this house cleaned up before people arrive on Sunday.
-
But I'm tired.
-
I'm watching the beginning of One-Trick Pony, which, so far, isn't as bad as I thought it would be. And I like the early Paul Simon music, even if he's a bit low energy in the lead role.
-
I'm finally making a little progress with Charlotte Bronte's Villette. After two months of slogging through, I'm down to the last 150 pages. An end is in sight.
-

-
Page three? Really?
-
Too much damn malarkey if you ask me.
-
Finished one motion picture, starting another motion picture.
-
I intend to catch up over the weekend!
-
I really liked "...Frog and Toad" on Broadway.
-
And that's about all the positive energy I can muster to spread into the world for the evening. :)
-
As the saying goes: I never repeat terrible things about former DRs - so I hope you listened carefully the first time. :)
-
Back from a decent show. We even got all the way through this one before rains came. In fact, they still haven't come. They're "just" bypassing us most of the night, it appears.
-
And how have the crowds been, ChasSmith?
-
I really do like a lot of One-Trick Pony. Blair Brown is wonderful. Lou Reed is great. And Simon proves ingratiating, if really low key.
-
Let's move on.
-
Four!
-
Finally four.
-
Four malarkey and all.
-
Attendance has been good, though last night's and tonight's were understandably smaller than usual.
Right now it looks like they ("they") expect the rain to be out of here by late afternoon tomorrow (rather than staying through the evening), and Sunday is supposed to be completely clear. Those should be very well attended.
-
Belated response to DR Jrand67:
Wow DR CHAS SMITH - I like those sets and the costumes are nice, too.... That wig on Annie in the main picture shore looks B I G though......
Oh well, I guess that's what happens when someone gets gussied up.
The sets at this place are always very simple and basic, but these do come off looking nice. Wig looks better in real life. It's also not the standard tight round perm thing you often see. It looks a little more natural than those that more closely imitate the cartoon image.
-
I'm headed to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to a really crazy interesting jazz pianist named Don Shirley - not really jazz per se, more classical and jazz mixed together - the closest comparison being George Shearing. I'm fascinated by this guy.
-

I'm finally making a little progress with Charlotte Bronte's Villette. After two months of slogging through, I'm down to the last 150 pages. An end is in sight.
Life is too short to slog through books anymore.
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
Well, hopefully TCB will come soon and hopefully George won't forget about the time whilst playing video games or whatever he does.
-
Good evening.
-
More vibes for TCB’s niece.
Thank you, John.
-
DR TCB did your niece have the second/third surgery and is there an opinion regarding the success of it?
Yes, she had the second surgery. They will be sending her home tomorrow.
-
They wanted to send her home today, but she told them she hurt too much.
-

Thanks, Kevin.
-
I hope she feels well enough to go home tomoorw.

You are correct. I finally gave up on this Kennedy assassination book I have been reading - forever!

Margo and I met at Chipotle. I got a salad and I enjoyed it. I'll probably go back. :)
-
It had a few new revelations, but I was so bored, I had to quit without finishing it.
-
I rarely stop reading a book without finishing it.
-
Except The Book of Mormon (the real book, not the play).

What a coinkydink! Literally as I read this post, the local news that I'm watching just announced that this story will be coming up!
-
I have the anniversary edition of ACT ONE by Moss Hart to read. I read it before in high school.
-
But I think the next book I. Will read is MEG by Steve Alten.
-
Well, hopefully TCB will come soon and hopefully George won't forget about the time whilst playing video games or whatever he does.
I didn't lose track of time, this time!
-
That is the giant shark book. The movie is due out next Friday.
-
Not expecting Peter Benchley quality, but we shall see.
-
DR TCB did your niece have the second/third surgery and is there an opinion regarding the success of it?
Yes, she had the second surgery. They will be sending her home tomorrow.
That's great!

I will be thrilled that I don’t have to drive to Seattle this weekend.
-
Although, I will miss the chance to see the Blue Angels flying over the city.
-
But I have seen them many times before.
-
Although, I will miss the chance to see the Blue Angels flying over the city.
My friend David lives in an apartment building that he says has a great view of where the planes are flying. He and his wife don't have to go anywhere!
-
Why would you go to Chipotle, the same week that they have another ecoli outbreak?
-
Not locally, but still.
-
Did you have a regular green salad, or a taco salad?
-
Why would you go to Chipotle, the same week that they have another ecoli outbreak?
:o Actually, Margo chose where to go.
-
It is not hot tonight, but it seems muggy.
-
We will be back to ninety degrees by the middle of next week.
-
Oh well, in three months I will be complaining about how much rain we are having.
-
Did you have a regular green salad, or a taco salad?
I just looked up their menu (https://www.chipotle.com/menu) and realized that I got a burrito bowl, not a salad.
