And the word of the day is: POTLATCH!
Druxy, actually the L.A. "Helpers" (if you catch my drift) have been at least as unhelpful as the NYC "Helpers". All I can say is if they don't send review product, it ain't getting reviewed. ;)

When I was doing my DVD newsletter, the L.A. branch sent me everything I requested.
However, I think that the cutback is due to the studios, not the PR agency. Paramount, Universal & Fox have all gotten very stingy with review product.

No, these are smaller, indie firms who WANT their product reviewed. The "Helpers" first told me screeners were coming, and then backtracked, saying supplies were "limited." If they want to "limit" their product from by far the largest high-def site out there, it seems at the very least counter-intuitive to what a PR firm is supposed to accomplish. :)

I'm not trying to defend them, but I'm sure that if they had the product that they would send it to you. I really think that even the smaller studios are cutting back on review copies and insisting that they only go to the MAJOR media outlets.
Had a nice amount of orders this morning.

ANGUS DEI: To play with a divinely beefy tone
A PATELLA: Accompanied by knee-slapping
APPOLOGGIATURA: A composition that you regret playing
APPROXIMATURA: A series of notes not intended by the composer, yet played with an "I meant to do that" attitude
APPROXIMENTO: A musical entrance that is somewhere in the vicinity of the correct pitch
CACOUGHANY: A composition incorporating many people with chest colds
CORAL SYMPHONY: A large, multi-movement work from Beethoven's Caribbean Period
DILL PICCOLINI: An exceedingly small wind instrument that plays only sour notes
FERMANTRA: A note held over and over and over and over and . . .
FERMOOTA: A note of dubious value held for indefinite length
FIDDLER CRABS: Grumpy string players
FLUTE FLIES: Those tiny mosquitoes that bother musicians on outdoor gigs
FRUGALHORN: A sensible and inexpensive brass instrument
GAUL BLATTER: A French horn player
GREGORIAN CHAMP: The title bestowed upon the monk who can hold a note the longest
GROUND HOG: Someone who takes control of the repeated bassline and won't let anyone else play it
PLACEBO DOMINGO: A faux tenor
SCHMALZANDO: A sudden burst of music from the Guy Lombardo band
THE RIGHT OF STRINGS: Manifesto of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Violists

I'm sitting here looking at the original sheet music for "There's a Rainbow Round My Shoulder," personally signed by Al Jolson.
Ginny how is your water today?
Thank you DR MBarnum. How are you doing? Are the days/nights getting more difficult before getting better?
I'm sure if John Denver had really "thought" about it, he'd have written...
"Rainbows on my shoulders make me happy
Rainbows in my eyes can make me cry..."

I swear that somewhere, some time, John Denver DID sing:
Sunshine on my shoulder gives me sunburn,
Sunshine in my eye can make me blind,
Sunshine on the water makes it lukewarm,
Sunshine almost always makes me fine.
And the word of the day is: POTLATCH!
Had a nice amount of orders this morning.
I can only think of one Rainbow song.
Who better to amuse than yourself. ;)

Good evening. I'm feeling a little better today. Haven't coughed as much as the past few days

BTW, it is Gabe's 14th birthday today. He wants KFC for dinner. Oy.

Got the bill from the handy man and I am not happy about a few things. Trying to decided whether to just pay him and be done with it or to waste my time an energy bickering over a few things that they really didn't do well. I'm starting to think I'll just be done with them and then show my neighbor who is planning to hire them the problems I had with them and suggest he hires someone else. My neighbor asked what I thought of them early on, so I think I'll fill him in
I like your method of revenge Cilla. ;) It would have to be a lot of money to make it worth the fight. Once we fired a worker and paid him. When you are dealing with a possible KKK member you do that.

:D It will cost him more money if my neighbor hires someone else than if I fight about this or that
Guess who just placed an order? Someone named Betty Buckley. :)
Back from a really fun interview - I think I was going to be only one thirty minute segment, but we talked for almost an hour and I think I'll be the whole show. The host is Joe Sutton, the station is KGIL, and it airs either this Saturday or the following Saturday.

Will it air on the internet? I'd love to hear it. Glad you had a good time

I did. :)
I posted the album cover and info on Betty's "like Betty" page - she took it down today - therefore, I will not send her some additional free copies.
I think he said the interview would air on the Internet, too. I'll keep you posted.
vixmom - I saw that Lestat performance as well. Was that the first time we met?

Here's a little eye candy for Elmore, MBarnum, JR and other hoity-toity "lovers of opera". ;) I just reviewed this version of Salome, which features this young man full frontal:

I have no idea who maintains the page but why would maintainer remove it - after all, it's about Betty. But the idea of the page, I think, is for Betty or her maintainer to have things that only benefit Betty - that's the way it seems to me. Why else wouldn't either of them want her many fans to know about it?
