Fresh in a restaurant or deli is almost always best.  Right now, 5 Napkin Burger of all places makes a particularly fabulous matzoh ball soup.

The departed Artie's Deli (near Elmore) had a real good soup, too.

The matzoh ball mix is pretty good.  I prefer them a bit more on the fluffy side and Keith prefers them hard.  We are both pleased with the mix which falls in the middle.

I've washed Annabelle's nose for the third time today.  She hates me.

She turned down the Fancy Feast Beef and Liver tonight, and I suspected it was because of her stopped up nose.  However, when I offered her some Temptations Shrimp kitty treat, she ate it!  So she's eating at the moment a mix Temptations kitty treats, dry Meow Mix Seafood cat food, and sone dry Purina cat food.  Perhaps she's decided she hates wet cat food?

I don't care as long as she's eating bona fide cat food, wet or dry.  Stella and Thatch can have the wet.

I just threw a fit at an eBay vendor selling Noel Coward Collected Plays:  I ordered volumes 4 and 5 in this edition to match my other volumes:

Those were the volumes they advertised on eBay, but what they sent me was the earlier editon of the same volumes from the mid-1980s, which do not match the other voluimes in size or design:

That's a bummer, Elmore. I have a couple of volumes from the last set you shows with the Erte covers.

Sounds delicious. I miss my mom's.

Not enough to make it. Especially in this heat. She taught me how once upon a time.

The garden is ablaze with mint, which is just getting bitter in the heat. So, I'm trying mint pesto for the first time.

As to the orchestration inquiry, I've heard a couple of songs and I liked them.  I'm told I will hear more on Monday, and I've asked to see a score.  They want an estimatyed orchestration fee, but there's more to the score than the songs, and I would like to get a bar count for the entire score.

Our cat tree is starting to look tacky.  The scratching post legs are unraveling, and I think it will be time to purchase a new one when/if a new round of work gives me some play money.  This is what we currently have, and Stella and Thatch seem to compete for the crow's nest.

I could purchase another like it, but this one seems more fun.  It's six feet tall.

I'm sorry to hear that Franco Zeffirelli has died.  He was very talented.

"Ablaze with Mint" reminds me of those titles like "Desire Under the Elms."

"Ablaze with Mint Julep" sounds like it could be something.  :)

I hope he does, too. I need to get some more housecleaning done, including around his cage, which he likes messy. But I just don't want to.

This afternoon I saw the touring production of Hello, Dolly! at the Kennedy Center.  I enjoyed the show and the cast, led by Betty Buckley and Lewis J. Stadlen.

The day is done and the evening has begun.  All music is sorted and in boxes and oh dear did I find a treasure trove of stuff I never did for Lost in Boston, about fifty songs ranging from Cole Porter cut songs to a ton of Kander and Ebb cut songs in a folder called Unsung Kander and Ebb - so apparently I was contemplating doing that.  I have stuff I think no one has heard cut from Chicago, Woman of the Year, and then rare stuff like the title song from Helzapoppin' by Jule Styne and the title song from A Broadway Musical by Charles Strouse.  I'm gonna have Richard come and play through all of it and I'll have some in show 100 and in the anniversary show.  And I found the Good Time Ladies Rag, cut from Pippin (the music is the Manson Trio music but the lyrics are really fun).  I also found a ton of my own stuff, so that's really good.  Stuff from when I was fourteen and fifteen that I have no real memory of.
