TOD:

Back in the days, at good ol' Burbank High, the Drama group would put on an annual set of one-act plays dubbed Trio.  Naturally, one of the plays in each set had to be something very "modern," which is how in successive years I became familiar with Jean-Claude van Itallie's Interview, Eugene Ionesco's The Bald Soprano (ages before Gandolfini changed the meaning of that title) and Charles Dizenzio's Sociability (which was a piece of cr@% and didn't work in the slightest).

Then I went to Fresno State for college, and their drama department didn't do theater of the absurd, mainly because theater of the absurd in Fresno would have been redundant.

Ah, well... My dryer doesn't work.  It heats up, but it doesn't spin. :-\

So, you have to bake your clothes until they're dry?

Jose:

Just so you'll know, there are a bunch of James Beard semi-finalists in Charleston SC.

The Charleston Grill, Bob Waggoner chef, up for both Outstanding Service and Best Chef: Southeast.

Fig, Mike Lata chef, Best Chef: Southeast.

McCrady's, Sean Brock chef, for both Best Chef: Southeast and Rising Star Chef.

Trattoria Lucca, Best New Restaurant

and Tristan, Aaron Deal chef, Rising Star Chef.

I haven't taken the time to look up their websites yet.

Back from the family room where we watched Michigan lose and Purdue win.  They both got what they deserved.

I wondered what happened.  I was watching but decided I really should go for a walk before the day is over.   It was SO beautiful outside and it's supposed to rain for the next two days.  I skipped the end of the film festival.  I did the volunteering I promised to do, but really didn't feel like going back tonight.

Thank you!

You should have seen my face! I sort of started to laugh and said to my mother.
"Don't be scarred; move slowly to your right and look!"

Now, speaking of black and laundry:

do you also have over there  -- and that's new to me here! -- special laundry products for DARK clothes?!

*Ruth Reichl and her husband raved about FIG on Twitter.  It's most definitely on "The List".  -In fact, I believe the May issue of Gourmet will be featuring the restaurants and foods of Charleston.

Well, they did partially "bake" dry.  When I heard the buzzer go off, I first thought, "Wow, that was fast!".  Then when I opened the dryer, I discovered the clothes were still "in place".  However, some of the clothes did have dry spots.  :-\

You'll either thank me for this or hate me - but Warners has taken a leaf from Arkiv Music and they're about to release a whole slew of movies via their new Warners Archive line - only available on the Internet - some incredible titles that I think we can now assume won't ever see the light of a proper release - I'm sure they're spending nothing on remastering them properly, but I think our dear readers will definitely want to get some of these.

One of the more interesting titles is one of Steve McQueen's last films and a pet project...An Enemy of the People. It played the Montreal Film Festival and I don't think it ever was released in Canada and probably played a few cities in the USA.

And I guess the Crowded Sky predated Airport 1975 by 15 years.

And my favorite film title is The Devil is A Sissy

And an interesting side note about The Crowded Sky and Airport 1975

In The Crowded sky, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. plays a small aircraft pilot who crashes his plane into the commercial jet piloted by Dana Andrews.  In Airport 1975, Dana Andrews plays a small aircraft pilot who crashes his plane into the commercial jet piloted by Efrem Zimbalist Jr.

Has anyone heard any buzz about the Blu Ray release of South Pacific? I am curious if they fixed the color in the roadshow version so that the re-inserted footage matches the rest of the film. I hope it does.

Otherwise I think I will skip the release.

You could always grill them or perhaps saute them with a little white  wine and lemon!

And if they do a Blu Ray release of Oklahoma! I hope that they fixed the color on the Todd-AO version and has a bonus feature you can watch both versions at the same time!

Just had to turn on the heat to take the chill out of the air.  Even though the daytime temps here have been in the mid-60s, we're still having some very cool evenings.  It's supposed to get down to the 40s tonight.

Here's the final version of the Nudie art for the reading - I had him add more of a smile and the wink - didn't like both her eyes closed - now it's saucy.

It's got sort of a 40's quality to it, but I always liked the original design  -- was it by Pearsall (however you spell it)?  I know he is no longer with us, but he was a talented man.

I know what it reminds me of-- one of those revues like "Stars and Garters."

Today's posts are just too funny.  I wish I had a sense of humor to keep up with everyone.   But, I just sit here and laugh till it hurts.  For me humor is something I do not have.

BK's event was great.  For some reason all the pic's I took printed yellow.  I gave the photo CD to someone to correct the color.  They are going to email the corrected pics to BK to post.
