good morning all

Well, I am in eburg after an impromptu trip over the mountains.  My mother, who was making the trek from Eugene to Ellensburg, called me and said she was just simply too tired to make the entire 8-9 hour drive.  She asked if I'd be willing to drive her the rest of the way from tacoma, then drive her back this evening.  As anyone who's ever had a parent knows, they "ask" only as a formality, especially when said parents are currently helping you out with bills...so off I went over the pass.

Moment I must share -
My father just returned with a bouquet of tulips for my mother, which he wanted to put into a vase.  He looked around in vain for a pair of scissors to trim then ends, but no luck.  Then I saw a look of inspiration cross his face and he disappeared into his workshop.  A minute later I heard the sound of the table saw going...a minute after that he returned, smiling triumphantly, with a bunch of very neatly cut flowers.

Wow--Leslie has a certain Farmer-esque (circa 1940-41) look in that photo, don't ya think?  Say yes, it'll be easier.  :)

I will agree with you! Ha!

I thought Ms. Parrish looked quite lovely in it...and in color and available on Ebay at this very second!

I mentioned a great CD called Vuelta by someone named Richard Shindell here a few weeks ago.  Here's a very insightful review:

http://www.christianitytoday.com/bc/2005/001/20.38.html

If you like folky pop with very intelligent lyric writing, I highly recommend this guy.  I'm arranging "The Island" from this CD for my big choral group.

If "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" qualifies as a giant monstyer movie, I think I'll have to go with that.

Is that Leslie in the Maidenform Bra???  I thought it looked like her a bit but then I though, nah.  And it's availble on eBay?  Link me, Sidney.

I'm on my way to the memorabilia show.

THEM!  THEM!!! THEM!!!! had the giant ants!

I remember seeing this movie, but I don't remember anything about it.  Weird huh? ::)

I like the first Godzilla movie.  When my sister and I were much younger (I must have been 7 or 8 years old...my sister's a couple of years older), "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" was supposted to play at the local movie house.  We were excited about seeing this, but then it never came.  We were both very sad. :'( I still have never seen this movie.

There are many stories to be told, some of them quite strange...
Quote
He said the woman told him the banana "was an affront to me and to others, including a former state senator." She wouldn't name the senator.

But wait, there's more!

Quote
Stewart tells me she shouldn't have to explain that. People should know why that's offensive, and if they don't, then they need to find out. But they're not going to find out from her -- even though she's the one complaining about it.

Now, isn't this all very special?

Well I just got disappointing news. I cannot get Voom Satelitte service. My house is positioned the wrong way! What a major bummer. My only option is Adelphia and they don't have enough channels for my taste. I will have to wait until they have more channels or I move.
You want to mooV for Voom?

Tonight we will not be dining on frijoles.  Tonight der B and I will be enjoying the feast over at Cafe Zeus, which is reopening for the season.  There will be music, fine food and wine, and much cause for celebration.

I do enjoy good frijoles, of course, but that's not what Charles and company create in their kitchen.

Elsewhere, der B and I have found a place locally that might have corn tortillas!  About half-way between Rehoboth and Georgetown is a restaurant/mercado that has almost all of it's signage in Spanish, except for a line that proudly and joyfully announces "English Spoken."  We're going to have to check it out sometime soon.  Flour tortillas have their place, but not with tacos or enchiladas, and certainly not as a munchy for snacking.

Did anyone else gasp in horror at the news of that horrible chimp attack yesterday (no joke).  The evening news mentioned the part about the poor man's face being chewed off (bad enough), but they didn't mention the even more horrific things that happened to him, which I read in this morning's paper.

Well, I saw it before breakfast, but opted to post the pictures from Jersey and the story about Shul House Rock instead.

But for ghouls amounst us here are two stories:

LA Times which mentions buttocks,
and Press Telegram which mentions testicles.

Enjoy

DerBrucer-love the story of the 1st doggie door experience.  Does Fletcher fit through the door?

We had a doggie door for our little poodles when I was young but Keith and I have never put one in for the big dogs.

As a kid who was very small I could easily go through the doggie door when I forgot my key.  After we were married Keith and I stopped by the house and no one was home yet so I did my usual quick slide through the door.  To my surprise I had hips I never knew I had and almost didn’t make it into the house.  There were a few scary moments when I was stuck half way through the door.

Just barely :-\

Of course that moose would just push out a bigger hole if need be! Trying to tell a deaf 85 lb beast "Don't Jump Up" works not at all.

Jose I have this image of us going from bakery to bakery together.  I would follow you around buying all of these tasty treats you talk about.  It would cost me a fortune to do my usual thing.  I take a few bites, satisfy my curiosity and craving, and then trash the rest. ;D

What is the pecking order in that picture?  Is it always the same, or is it first come first served?

I heard about the chimp attack - and opted not to look at the photos.

S.Woody White and Der Brucer--

Is Cafe Zeus the place that serves "Fried Potato Straws with Remoulade Sauce"?

My family stays at a place called the Addy Sea in Bethany Beach. Last summer , they drove to Rehoboth for dinner because they love the town and the restaurants. I believe it was Cafe Zeus that had a lovely outdoor seating area.

Also,Der Brucer, thanks for the article on Temple Beth Shalom in Long Beach-very interesting. I attended many a Bar and Bat Mitzvah there when I lived in the area.

Your puppies are so adorable.

DerBrucer-cute picture.  It is definitely a dog’s life in your house.
I forgot to mention I too enjoyed the article.  Our Rabbi in Michigan played the guitar and sang, not as interesting as the Temple in Long Beach.

I didn't see any photos of the chimp attack, thank heavens.  The description alone was enough to make me lose my breath.

Those of you who visited our home know that BeeGee is another 70 lb. lapdog.  Actually lap, chest and head dog--he will attempt to get his whole body on top of the first available human at any given moment.  :)
