And, of course, those who've read Benjamin Kritzer know all about the soft vanilla custard cones sold at Ocean Park Pier.

I have fond memories of the Dairy Queen chocolate dipped cone. I would get a chocolate soft serve and have that dipped in chocolate. Much better than a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. I also would have the chocolate dipped in butterscotch. Umm, Umm, Umm.

DR JRand - I'm so sorry about your loss.  The photo of you and Holly is very touching.

Why one should pay attention to the clergy

Quote
A priest and a pastor from the local churches were standing by the side of the road, pounding a sign into the ground that read: "The End Is Near! Turn Yourself Around Now--Before It's Too Late!"

As a car sped past them, the driver yelled, "Leave us alone, you religious nuts!"

From the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash.

The pastor turns to the priest and asks, "Do you think the sign should just say "Bridge Out?"

This would have worked well with yesterday's TOD

Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business. Several members did not approve of her gossiping , but feared her enough to maintain their silence.

She made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. She emphatically told George and several others that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing.

George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny. He said nothing.

Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house and left it there all night

Well, the topic of June Kenney is not bringing in the amount of comments that I had hoped for...maybe if I posted some of the posters from her better movies it might elicit a few comments, or remind others of the cinematic treats they have missed or forgotten about.

In 1958's HOT CAR GIRL June gets involved with bad guy Richard Bakalyn in his car steeling activities...she even loses her virginity  :o

As you can see June was evidently "fired up for any thrill."

I have had days like that, too.

Is the audio stream thingy in my Mr. Softee post clogging up the page?  Maybe DR Vixmom and I should delete our posts?

SORORITY GIRL is Roger Corman's 1957 AIP classic.

June Kenney co-stars as Tina, (too pretty to be good) who loses her virginity and finds out that she is preggers! Sorority sister Sabra convinces poor June to blackmail the big man on campus, even though he isn't really the father.

The poster indicates that June is about to get a spanking from Susan Cabot...but it is actually plump freshman Ellie who gets the paddling in this film!

These movie posters are making me feel all wild and sordid inside.

And just when you thought June's film career couldn't get any more sordid, she makes another film for Roger Corman!

In TEENAGE DOLL, June loses her virginity to rough and tumble gang leader, and James Dean impressionist, John Brinkley. She then is chased around town by an all girl gang who accuse sweet June of killing one of their own! Oh, my!

I really don't know what the light bulb represents in the poster....I don't recall any light bulbs playing a prominent part in the film....maybe it was from a deleted scene.
