Hi, Jane & Ben - would love to stay and chat, but I think I'll make my graham cracker stop on my way to work!  Bye!

I, too, love baked potatoes with oodles of butter and chives.
And I prefer a Miso Soup with potatoes and onions. It's tasty.

The soup sounds delicious.  I make a miso, ginger dressing (our son Bryan's recipe) that is wonderful.

Elmore chances are friends will drive from PA and spend the weekend with me.  Following them friends from Michigan might fly out to see me which adds to my dilemma of how many nights to book a hotel for.

Hisaka thanks for the photo.  Those are big.  I wonder if they are Japanese plums or European ones.

Ginny sorry I missed you.  I am now craving graham crackers.  Thankfully I don’t have any in the house at the moment or I might eat an entire box.

Jose do any of the places on the walking tour have sugar free treats?  Great photos!  Will your building be included in the walking tour.

My favorite way to eat a baked potato is with sour cream and chives, unfortunately not the healthiest way so I usually eat it plain or with veggies mixed in.

I love garlic mashed potatoes, French fries, home made potato chips and best of all, sweet potato fries.

A special treat passed down from my mother is regular mashed potatoes fried and topped with Lyle's Golden Syrup.

Keith makes the best potato pancakes!

There is a baked potato cart near to my office- I love getting a huge baked potato with cottage cheese, spinach and salsa for lunch.  I also love garlic fries and any kind of mashed potatoes.

French fries are my favorite style of potato, and the best fries I have ever had in my lifetime were at a steak restaurant chain called Western Sizzlin'.

The fries were cut into VERY long strips - like 10 inches long (no innuendo, DR TCB) - and fried a golden brown, and they just filled your platter up with them. I don't know where they got that size of potato in order to make fries that long, but they are far and away the best fries I have ever eaten.

Yes, I really love potato pancakes, too, but I haven't had them in a long time. My former partner made just about the best ones I've ever tasted.

Ah, yes. Text message. I know what they are but since we don't have  cell phones (we are probably the only two people in all of New York City Anthony and me, who don't have cell phones) I don't get text messages.

I loathe the over-usage of cell phones in public areas, and I despise the cell phone companies for promoting their usage in every situation..   That's why God invented pay phones.  I will never (I hope) have one either, DRBen.

I was very dismayed to read of the passing of the marvelous actress Geraldine Fitzgerald. Always thought she was quietly impressive and always underrated. She deserved to be a much bigger star than she ever became.

Another absolutely scorching day here. My AC has been kicking on constantly, and the outside air is just miserable.

There is a huge condo complex being built right across the street from me, and I really feel for those workmen. They've been lucky that a majority of the weather during the building of this big unit has been bearable, but not the last couple of weeks.

I have never loved baked potatoes.  But I do adore fries.  I wish my waistline liked them as much.  I could eat them everyday!  Gee now I will probably be craving them. :)

Birthday wishes and health vibes to DR OZDEREK!

Congratulations to DR MATTH for his sparkling prize and to all the other Broadway Brainiacs for figuring out the Trivia Contest.  I have been stumped another TWO weeks in a row!

Glad to read about Mr Spirtas' revue turning out so well.  A revue in a laundromat - how lovely.

Ah, well. No packages in today's mail, so I'll have to go back to the DVR for some movies stored there. I finally got 21 GRAMS last night (it had been eluding me for the last couple of months). But I think I'll probably start with ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND.

Will listen a bit more to the NEW Guy Haines CD today.  The design of the packaging is clever and intriguing.  And I already have my FAVORITES of the tracks....

Jose...my God, man, are you trying to kill me!?!?! (When are we going to those places?) I've not yet been to Magnolia Bakery, but I've heard their cupcakes are UH-MAY-ZING.

Now, about potatoes. I love them. I love them mashed (with garlic or cheese or both. The Viceroy in Chelsea has incredible mashed potatoes). I love them fried. (Joe Allen's fries in that red wine garlic butter is fabulous). I love them baked. (A little margarine, a little bacon, a little heaven). I love them hashed. (Political differences aside, Cracker Barrel serves some of the best hash brown potatoes I've ever eaten). I love potato bread. In short, I love potatoes.

My mom makes a hash brown casserole that I beg for every time I go home. It involves the hash browns, obviously, in sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, chopped onions and then it's absolutely smothered in cheddar cheese and baked.  My favorite part is the cheese, but oh! how I do love that recipe. She calls them "Lucious Potatoes." Amen, sister!

Why is it - and it must be a rule - that in every stage group, there is one person who turns the wrong way?

In MAGIC TO DO, I have everyone turn UPSTAGE - it's a half turn....and then at the end of the phrase, they complete the turn slowly to face the audience.  And Joseph the TALLEST boy onstage always turns back the way he came, instead of just completing the turn in the same direction.  And it's a S L O W turn and so 11 people are turning one way - slowly - and one tall boy is turning in the opposite direction....slowly.....  It is almost fascinating to watch - ALMOST.

DR JOSE I agree with DRHISAKA that your garden and living spaces are very nice.  You could almost raise a stalk of corn out there.  And if you had chickens, you could do what we talked about in yesterday's notes!
