Well, you've read the notes, the notes were early, and now it is time for you to post until the early cows come home.

And following up on Michael S's post, here are the full quotes from MY FAVORITE YEAR, courtesy of imdb:

Sy: Leo, it gets me sick to think we gotta put up with some washed-up jaboni who's gonna be running around Central Park with his schlong hangin' out!
Alan Swann: My dear fellow, what I choose to do with my schlong is my business.
Sy: [who didn't know Swann had entered] How's business?
Alan Swann: Never better.

and

[Alan Swann has blundered into the wrong restroom]
Lil: This is for ladies only!
Alan Swann: [unzipping fly] So is *this*, ma'am, but every now and then I have to run a little water through it.

Last night, we watched ZOMBIELAND, which was fun, particularly in the non-blood/gore scenes that got tiring very quickly.  The funniest sequence involved Bill Murray.

Also watched TAKING WOODSTOCK, which I enjoyed but, like most Ang Lee movies, it could have lost 20 minutes.  Lee is a fine filmmaker, but he needs to hire a good editor.

Just because you shoot a scene, doesn't mean you have to use it.

Sunday morning greetings!  I'm getting ready to head for Columbus later to meet some friends at Easton Towne Center for some Vera Bradley-ing, some Nordstorm-ing, and some Cheesecake Factory-ing.

It's a beautiful day for travel and I send the best in-progress travel vibes to our very own BK!

Yes, BK, it's an unfortunate name for a Kentucky state park:

Big Bone Lick State Park (http://www.parks.ky.gov/findparks/recparks/bb/)

What's really ironic is its proximity to the:

Creation Museum (http://creationmuseum.org/)

Good morning, all! The damned dog barked quite a while last night; clearly the ass neighbor was away. So, I finaly used a pair of ear plugs to shut out the barking and slept very soundly. I don't like ear plugs; I hate the pressure and then feeling of wearing them. At some time around 3 am I removed them.

This morning, I have vegetables to prepare for my soup and I have edits on OZ. At 1 o'clock I have a meeting to schedule singers for recording in October and November. After that, back here to finish the soup, tidy, write some emails to all involved in the recordings, and that's my day.

I liked TAKING WOODSTOCK very much; I thought the cast was wonderful and  I saw it twice.

DR JMK, thanks for the info about your Japanese DVD. In the McGlinnventory I found a CD of Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra playing orchestrations by their staff arranger, Arthur Harris. He was an amazing writer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Travel Vibes for BK! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DR FJL I am sure DR GEORGE's personal brain IS lovely, but yes I was referring to his photo from yesterday.
DR CP obviously needs to be more aware of where the camera is.   I Myself, if cameras are around, exhibit behavior much like that of Jerry Lewis in THE ERRAND BOY.
Good morning!
I had a good night of sleep but awoke with a very sore lower back. Where did THAT come from? Other than walking, I didn't anything strenuous yesterday or lift anything heavy. So, it's a puzzlement (a KING & I reference). I did walk this morning, but I had to give up on my workout. Just didn't want to strain anything more than it already has been.
I'll be working on ARMAGEDDON today. It's 2 1/2 hours long, but as I recall, it's so loaded with action and events that the time passes by quickly. And other than a music video and a trailer or two, there are no bonuses, so I should be able to finish it this afternoon and get to the writing later today leaving the evening free.
Ah, easy mistake on my part.  i just assumed his parents had named him Evil Kurt, which I had found curious.  Thought it might have been a regional thing, like calling a child Bobbie Sue, or Betty Lynn or Billy Joe.  (I can almost hear it: "The day that Evil Kurt McAllister jumped off the Tallahatchee Bridge")
Title: Re: BIG BONE LICK
Jrand - re doing the Music Man - If the Music Man available is either Craig Bierko or Patrick Cassidy, I do recommend your doing him if you have the opportunity.  Deal with the consequences later, the memory will likely be worth the repercussions.
As for what I'll watch tonight after work is finished. I saw VAN HELSING sitting on top of the Blu-ray stack, but after watching a popcorn picture for work, I'm not sure I'll be in the mood for another.
I haven't fired up the HD-DVD player in some time, so I might watch FORBIDDEN PLANET on HD-DVD. (Still waiting on that Blu-ray release.) Or GRAND PRIX on HD-DVD which I haven't opened yet.
After laundry, I must go back to the artwalk to purchase 2 more glass fish for my wall from one of the local artists.  I bought 2 yesterday and they are so much fun, I think I need 2 more.  Very silly looking glass fish.
And then to listen to the last 2 cd's from Kritzerland which I have not opened yet.   I WILL NEVER MOVE AGAIN.
I WILL NEVER MOVE AGAIN.    The storage locker in the valley is empty, but I still have a 10x10 locker here in Ventura that I am slowly (extremely slowly) going through.   And then I think a garage sale is in order.
Good afternoon all!  We've had rain almost all day so far.  I still had to go out and get the old laundry done.  That is one thing I will not miss when I get my money back and can build that laundry room.
In the mean time, I have muddy paws to deal with.  No point in cleaning it up right now because they will just go out and bring in some more.
We all laid down on the couch this afternoon and watched a movie.  The Time Travelers Wife.  It was ok.
Now all I hear is a bunch of grunting and someone falling on the floor.
Vibes to Dear TCB and your back.
You don't have worry about missing me.  I will be popping up quite a bit now.
Argh!
Once again, I'm seeing about half of the pictures and the other half are 'x'ed out.
Strange - they're all in the same place on my hard drive and all from the same source.  Who knows.....
It must have something to do with file size. Maybe my computer just can't open pictures of a certain size. That's pure guesswork, however.
DR MattH, try right clicking on the "x" and see if a "view image" instruction pops up.
OMG! DR Elmore, you're a genius. I never even knew that existed!!!
I saw every picture!
Since DR ELmore is working his way through season three of BONES, I thought I'd do the same, so I watched the first two episodes of the season while I cooked and ate lunch. This is the Gormagon season, so a good number of episodes focus on that either partly or wholly. This was the writer's strike season, so it's shorter than the others, and the writers didn't really get a chance to delve deeply into the cannibal's conscripting of one of the lab's workers. I guess that's why it was SO unsatisfying for me once the identity was revealed at the end of the season. It just didn't ring true and seemed so haphazardly arrived at.
I mouthed off to Keith while he was giving Sherlock a shower, not a wise thing to do to a person holding a water sprayer ;D  I wish I had a photo of his expression he soooo wanted to get me.  I figured the realization he would also spray the entire bathroom saved me, nope only that it wasn't right to "get" a partial invalid. :)  Boy or boy, did he ever want to spray me. :)
Then I spent the rest of the afternoon with ARMAGEDDON. It's very typical Michael Bay stuff: lots of things go boom, lots of smart aleck one liners at the height of crises, and plot holes a mile wide that require complete suspension of disbelief. All that said, I'd be lying if I didn't admit to tearing up at the conclusion. He finds ways to work the emotions despite all the things that go wrong, one after another after another.
The bare bones bonus features are the same that were on the Disney DVD of the movie: a music video and two theatrical trailers. That's it: no commentary, no behind the scenes interviews or making of featurettes. This was a lost opportunity for Disney since this was a big, big hit in its day and a movie that lots of people like despite all its flaws.
I'm home.  The flight was fast and on time.  Then we had a car hiccup in that the guy wrote down PM instead of AM, so I had to sit at the airport for forty minutes while he came to get me.  I got home quickly, though.  Then I had to deal with an emergency hiccup about our next release - I've had to put it on hold for a few days and it could conceivably go away, but I'm hoping everything works out.  This has to do with the publisher - the master recording is owned by MGM, but the publishing is owned by the composer and since this is a first release, one has to get permission.  I've actually never had to before, but I got a note about it and the guy is being persnickety, but I'm hoping it will all work out by the end of the week.  Meanwhile, I've got to jump on another project right now.
DR FJL I am sure DR GEORGE's personal brain IS lovely, but yes I was referring to his photo from yesterday.
DR CP obviously needs to be more aware of where the camera is.   I Myself, if cameras are around, exhibit behavior much like that of Jerry Lewis in THE ERRAND BOY.
I was quite aware of where the camera was and was avoiding it like the plague.  It was BK's night.  No need for me to be in pictures with his cast.
BK, I envy you the trip to Gold Star, though I always preferred Skyline Chili myself. I haven't made a good pot of Cincinnati chili in a while. May have to change that in the near future.
I have a slight preference for Gold Star over Skyline, but I'll happily eat either.  And my actual favourite is Dixie Chili over in Newport.  Perhaps because it's open 24hrs.
I'm still bummed that Zak ended up being the apprentice! I love his relationship with Hodgins and, while I think his character is geeky and stunted, I cannot believe he would align himself with a  serial killer!
I had a good meeting with my friend Zach Stains, the naked Hercules, and we worked on scheduling singers. The hitch is that we ended up with questions only our recording producer can answer, so I'm waiting.
Welcome back safely, BK!
Sunday evening greetings from beautiful Gahanna, OH!  My hotel is right across the interstate from Port Columbus International Airport, so the pilots wave as they go over our parking lot.  I got here in time to check in and drop off my luggage in my room, then proceeded to Easton to meet my friends at the Vera Bradley enabler retailer.  There were 7 of us - 2 from greater Columbus, 2 from NE Ohio, 2 from northern Kentucky, and me.  The gal who'd arranged today's meet-up gave us goodie bags and arranged for the store also to give us goodie bags.  Everybody bought something and then we all proceeded to Cheesecake Factory, where another FB friend and her daughter joined us in time for dessert.  We dispersed about 5:30, I made a quick stop at Nordstrom, and made my way back here via the scenic route.  I'm in for the night, watching a very depressing NBC program about Detroit.
MR BK did you ever get to talk to Zubrick or did he stay away....I never did see him wander down to our end of the room.
I am listening to a fabulous new cd, Maria Friedman Celebrates the Great British Songbook.  Wow!  A true highlight is a magnificent cover of Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again Naturally, " a stunning "White Cliffs of Dover" (with "Dido's Lament") runs that a close second.  Plus, any cover of "What Kind of Fool Am I?" only adds more pleasure.  And then to top it all off, there's "Diamonds are Forever."
Jrand - You have a better memory than I do, your looking younger than me and all - Am I remembering correctly a photo of a DR (was it DR CP) doing a classic play, which revealed that that DR indeed has quite "a pair of good elbows" - indeed, when I had a need for a little culture, I would happen to go back to that page from time to time (due to my appreciation of the classics) and say "Yowza, look at those elbows."
Yowza is, of course, a classical term, like Alas and hey nonny nonny.
I have simple stretches I do.  I don't know how to explain what I do.
When I'm watching tv I support my back with pillows & put a moist heating pad on it.  I began using this when I was 18, after a car accident, and don't know what I would do without it.  I have the extra long one.  My guess is they are also sold in Canada.  http://www.thermophore.com/
Man am I tired.  Just finished watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray and shall now put the motor car away.  Tomorrow, they are blocking off four blocks including right in front of my house to film some stupid PSA commercial that involves a car accident.  The actual street they're using is two blocks from here and the very street on which I used to live.  So, I guess I'll be able to pull my car in and out of the garage, and the next block to the west you can park, too.  I just hope the CD delivery can pull up to the house because he will not be happy if he has to go too far.  In fact, if it's problematic, I'll have him pull up to the garage and bring them in that way.
Yes, I've had a heating pad on my back all evening (with some breaks). It has improved the stiffness and soreness a little, but having had this happen before, I know that it takes days for it to get back to normal. During that time, I can't do anything like my usual workout.
Work project, shmirk project--I pumped out three (count 'em) reviews today.  Oy.  ;)
I certainly have watched more than one film a day in terms of a work project, but more than one review a day? Not bloody likely (a PYGMALION reference). I don't think that'll ever happen.
I watched last night's CASTLE rerun first which I found very enjoyable. And the HD was particularly good in this episode for some reason.
I wish Disney would issue CASTLE seasons on Blu-ray rather than on DVD.
I just read that character actor SID CONRAD passed away on Friday (16).
He originated the role of Spencer Tracy in my one-person play, TRACY.
Two minutes after the curtain went up, you forgot that you were watching an actor and believed that he was, indeed, Tracy.  He was that good.
I think I'll likely go ahead and watch 'M' on Blu-ray for my work project tomorrow. Coming this week from Fox will be CRAZY HEART and AVATAR, and 'M' is the last disc I have in my stack waiting to be reviewed, so I might as well go ahead and get it done.
What's with all the back pain? (Me, too.)
FWIW (for what it's worth), my approach is heat, drinking lots of water (yes, it REALLY does help), and proteolytic enzymes, plus avoiding certain foods. Jennifer, you might wish to try Arnica or TriFlora gel, homeopathic remedies applied topically.
I blame the ice cream I've been eating--not Jose.
It's alway good to take a shower after a travel day. Wash all of that travel grime off of you. -Which should help alleviate your allergies too.
Woooooohoooooooooooo.....midnight on the WEST COAST.
they may be perusing the notes....certainly FACEBOOK has been buzzing among them about Mr Kimmel's visit....all positive of course.
DR CP and I are relegated to the background as non-persons in the coverage.  As we read, that may have been DR CP's plan....
LOL....after the show, you couldn't get close to MR BK without a pair of good elbows....and/or a tight sweater.
They did indeed flock around Mr. Kimmel.  And they were all lovely people!  Sitting at the same table, I was able to have some nice conversations with several as BK could not engage them all at the same time.   And once again, speaking of lovely people, JRand and his pal, Evil Kurt, were charming guides and a great taxi service.  If I had had to tote BK and me around, we would have been lucky to make it to the theatre, let alone the afters gathering spot.  Thanks again, Jrand, for all your help and kindnesses.  Great to finally meet you.
It was a really terrific weekend!
I am listening to a fabulous new cd, Maria Friedman Celebrates the Great British Songbook.  Wow!  A true highlight is a magnificent cover of Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again Naturally, " a stunning "White Cliffs of Dover" (with "Dido's Lament") runs that a close second.  Plus, any cover of "What Kind of Fool Am I?" only adds more pleasure.  And then to top it all off, there's "Diamonds are Forever."
I just got this on Friday!  I listened to it yesterday and really enjoyed it, also.  I bought the autographed copy. :D
BK, I can always send you a Gold Star care package of the chili.  I don't know where you can get the smaller than usual hot dogs, however.  But you can always use regular hot dogs, get the shredded cheese, and mustard yourself and make your own.  There are also Cincinnati chili recipes readily available on the internet.
There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You
My Life in the Slow Lane
Bruce Kimmel has managed to eke out a career in one form of show business or another for over forty years. A successful Grammy-nominated record producer, Kimmel began his show business journey as an actor, in a time when being a young up-and-coming thespian was fun, thrilling, and when anything seemed possible. It was a different world for a young actor in the 1970s, and Kimmel’s journey is paved with laughs, tears, success, and an amazing cast of players. At twenty-seven, he wrote, co-directed, and starred in a film that would become a major cult success, The First Nudie Musical. He did TV pilots, guest shots, series, plays. He met and worked with incredible people. It was the kind of time we will never see again.
And then things changed. The nature of the business changed. And the path to dealing with those changes—getting older, trying to survive in an ever increasingly negative and cutthroat world—becomes a story of reinvention and rebirth. Through it all, Kimmel tells his tale with wit, candor, affection, and self-effacing honesty.
Enjoy being the fly on the wall as Kimmel hangs out with Elsa Lanchester, Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy; goes to Groucho’s house and plays the piano for him; works with Shirley Jones, David Cassidy, Susan Dey on The Partridge Family. We observe his long friendship with Cindy Williams, watch as he works with screen legends Patricia Neal, Jean Simmons, Leslie Nielsen, Patrick Macnee, Bud Cort, and Geraldine Fitzgerald, and as he hangs out with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy mansion.
Bruce Kimmel’s showbiz tales are loaded with laughs, wide-eyed wonder, and heart.
Bruce Kimmel has written nine other books—his acclaimed Kritzer trilogy (Benjamin Kritzer, Kritzerland, and Kritzer Time), Writer’s Block, Rewind, How To Write A Dirty Book and Other Stories, and his popular Adriana Hofstetter mystery series, Murder At Hollywood High, Murder At The Grove, and Murder At The Hollywood Historical Society. He has done many other things, the majority of which you can read about in this book.
