Yes, he should.  And he should also be sure to give me plenty of advance notice, so I can be sure to be out of town.    ;)

I assure you...you'll never know I was there until I post the pictures of me and other wonderful Hainsie/Kimlets having wonderful times at various locales throughout the city!

And the word of the day is: PRITHEE!
PRITHEE is much easier to pronounce than EEHTIRP.

Tonight my mom and I will go to dinner and then to the movies...The Elsinore Theatre is showing the 1933 (pre-code) comedy DESIGN FOR LIVING which stars Miriam Hopkins, Gary Cooper, and Frederic March. Should be a lot of fun!

It's based on Noel Coward, Mikey, so take a dictionary.

...Perhaps, DR JRand57, when I'm next in Ohio, you, perhaps DR Ginny, and I can meet somewhere between Middletown and Indianapolis?

Sounds like fun - I'll drive!

How embarrassing!  Didn't anyone tell Victoria that she had a horn sticking out of her a#@?
A horn with a crank, no less!

Wasn't Prithee a character in Gone With the Wind?
Show Boat.  Married to Capt'n Antsy.

That photo was taken just before she snuggled up to her cash register.

Oh, I forgot to post about Lester Lanin's Theatre Party CD.

bk was right, of course.  The arrangements are witty and fun.  And the sound is simply out of this world!!  Somehow it was closely enough miked that you can hear every note, every line, every instrument, and yet the overall sound is not cramped, boxy, or congested.  It's a real accomplishment and a great listen.  :)

Good Afternoon!

I'm almost done here at Ripley-Grier.  The Women's Equity Chorus Call finished up about 15 minutes ago, and now we just have one other woman coming in to audition for the "people behind the table" for another project.  So, I should be out of here by 1:30, and then I can walk up to the Hirschfeld to meet my parents before they go into the theatre for this afternoon's matinee of Curtains.  I may try to see if I can walk in, but I also may just camp out somewhere and have a nice leisurely lunch, and then meet them after the show.  We shall see...

As opposed to most other days, when you're a veritable soufflé of giddy giggles.   ;)

*When I checked my voicemail, there were five messages waiting for me.  -One of them of was even marked "Urgent".  Of course, all five messages were from my Mom.  They found the theatre, but they said there were no tickets for them at the box office.  Thankfully, the fifth message was from my father - he said that once he told the woman at the box office that "my son is a musician", well, she figured out it was a house seat request.  Of course, I had already told them that the tickets would be held under my Dad's name, and that they were a staff ticket request, so...  In any case... I hope they enjoy the show.  ;)

TOD:

Well, I'm not that terribly fond of chain restaurants.  IMO, any place where the guy running the kitchen isn't even learning directly from the chef who devised the dishes, but is instead following instructions from a book where the first rule is to never ever ever deviate from the book, the end result is going to be something that is bland and uninteresting.  The manager will be spinning his wheels, trying to keep from being ground into powder by the corporate management, all the while grinding the workers in the shop down into even finer powder, and I don't mean fine as in wonderful.  The inspiration and motivation will be gone, and the odds will be a meal that will just sit in my stomach like so much tofu and surimi.  Bleh.

That being said, der Brucer and I do enjoy ourselves at the local La Tonalteca.  It's part of a small chain, where the employees take pride in what they're doing: presenting authentic Mexican dishes in a friendly setting.  We were afraid that, in moving to Delaware, we wouldn't find anything to satisfy my Mex cravings - La Tonalteca proved us wrong.
