I'm feeling out of the loop because I've never seen Downton Abbey. It passed me by because I'm not usually a fan of costume dramas.

DR Doug R, do you prefer your dramas without costumes?

Elmore's CD was also reviewed in that batch Michael S. quoted earlier, even if his name weren't mentioned:

Victor Herbert: Works for Cello and Piano/Solo Piano Works (New World Records)
Simple "parlor" pieces -- works that were intended for ordinary people to play at home -- are the welcome focus of this two-disc set, which brings 26 absolutely beguiling works by the man behind such operettas as Babes in Toyland and Naughty Marietta into the 21st Century. Pianist William Hicks and cellist Jerry Grossman bring Herbert's graceful and elegant melodies to life with finesse, making them almost impossible to resist. Particularly enticing are "The Little Red Lark," a duet which has echoes of the "Old South" in it, and the whimsical piano solo "Scherzo."

I looked at my plate during the last dinner at the church. It looked like the way a seven-year-old would eat. All carbs. So I have decided to cut back to only healthy carbs for Lent.

I will be eating a BIG cinnamon roll on Easter morning, I predict.

It's okay, Doug.  You can be secure in the knowledge that you're not alone.

I'm up - had a good night's sleep, so that was nice.  Director David Galligan called at nine-thirty - I think they may finally be ready to issue a couple more of those STAGE benefit CDs.

Cool!  I love those!! ;D

BK, I certainly noticed no "spasmodic jerks" on my BD of Season 2 of DA.  Perhaps you have a defective copy.

Are you saying yours has a PBS "bug" over the episodes?  Ours sure doesn't.  There's the opening Masterpiece Classics bumper, but that's it.

My Season Two set is likewise bugless and spaz free.

If I have one minor gripe about DOWNTON ABBEY, it's that the characters are showing no signs of aging.  Seven years have gone by, and no one looks a day older.  Maybe there's something in the waters in that part of Merry Ol'?

I have been making my way through this new glut of Jerry Lewis films out on BD (reviews will be live tomorrow), and I must say I think Mr. Lewis had a profound influence on a young BK, who probably saw all of these films in their theatrical exhibitions.

We were at a Christmas party a few years ago at a law firm and the partners gave one of the secretaries (from Boise) a T shirt which read:

Idaho?

No, you da ho!!

This morning I finished reading THE NIGHT CIRCUS.  All told, it was a disappointing book.  While I enjoyed the author's imagery, her characters were rather dull and her story was just as unexciting.

I have downloaded the SMASH episode and may watch it after I return from ZUMBA this morning.

GLEE was very DRAMATIC last night - and I think it's on hiatus for six weeks or so.....of course.  Some sad topics and character backflips - but that is typical.  And of course my least favorite actor continued to be terrible.....and now he is writing/directing/starring in a MOVIE - where he plays ....  a high school student......

I believe that he and Debra Messing will be starring in a new sitcom, next year, playing husband and wife.

I have never seen Downton Abbey either.  Is Downton a family name in the show, or what is the use of Downton in the title.  The first year the show was on PBS, I assume that Spellcheck kept going in and correcting the title on different TV listings.
