Last round, I promise!

I think these two posters are wonderful and tell the audience exactly what the production hopes to convey as well as the great original FOLLIES poster (how many unhappy audience members who walked out missed the crack in the face on the poster? It says it all) and the Al Capp design for

As for the Topic of the Day....

The first things to come to my mind are two Sondheim shows: the "half and half" artwork for the original production of Sunday in the Park with George, and the artwork for the first London production of Assassins:

*I still remember coming across the Assassins poster in Triton Gallery years ago, and making that splurge purpose. I'm guessing it's somewhere rolled up with my other posters (it was printed on paper-stock and not carboard/stock).

I'd never seen the ASSASSINS London artwork; it's wonderful, as good as the FOLLIES poster.

As for the Topic of the Day - The Movie Edition....

I guess I'd have to say "Jaws" and "Cinema Paradiso".

Why is Candide nekkid on that poster?

I think it was a request of the orchestrator.

There can be only one answer for me.

Artist Reynold Brown.
Subject Miss Allison Hayes as the titular character.

I had never seen it either until I stumbled upon it in the bins.  It literally shocked me - just the right amount of creepiness.  It's also printed on what looks like a grocery bag - which provides the brown background - so that, combined with the silk-screened nature of the graphic, and the flag as Venetian blinds... Yep, creepy and unsettling.

As for the passing of Mary Travers...

One of my earliest musical memories is going through the stack of music books my parents had - mainly Time-Life and Reader's Digest collections - and coming across "Something To Sing About", which is a collection of tunes from the "Folk Era". -Clothbound, red cover. Not only was the sheet music included to selected songs, but there were also pictures and profiles of various artists.  Peter, Paul and Mary were, of course, one of the featured artists.  I believe they were also mentioned in the little introductory note before "Michael Row The Boat Ashore" in "The Reader's Digest Treasury of Best-Loved Songs of All Time". My parents also had their first self-titled album, and I will always associate "Blowin' in the Wind" with them - and Mary Travers' voice - rather than Bob Dylan.

Yes, favorite theater poster would have to be '1776' which I think is simply hilarious, and, after seeing the show and hearing "The Egg," completely appropriate.

Can I say I have been really enjoying the moderate coolness this morning. I have the window open in my office with the attick fan pulling the air through the room. It's just wonderful not having that hot, sticky air to deal with.

Fall cannot come soon enough for me.

Did you know "The Egg" was written late in previews and suggested by the poster?

Now I'm going to head down for more MY NAME IS EARL. I thought I only had nine more episodes to go, but a quick count shows it to be more like eleven more episodes, so I can get several knocked out quickly this morning.

That was one of my last reviews for DVD Talk.  I love Mary, but she's not exactly my favorite interpreter of Laura Nyro, LOL.

Yes, BK, I did indeed mention the Gilberto tune being temporally misplaced.  :)

Did someone say, "Ice Cream"?  Well, how about "Ice Cream Sundaes"?

And, of course, PROJECT RUNWAY continues with its new season on Lifetime tonight as usual.

I just realized: I have yet to watch an episode of the current season.  Hmm...

You're gonna love some of them, Jose!
