Good morning!  Lots to do this weekend, but I think I'll start with coffee at my favorite coffee shop.

It's going to be in the upper 90s today and very humid. Yuck.  Better get my errands done early...

Never mind - I'm worried word will leak out - so tomorrow night at midnight, as planned.

What a tease!

Vibes to bk's pal, Debby! Glad it doesn't sound quite as dire as originally thought but still, cancer sucks no matter what form it takes.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 6:30 and i decided to go back to bed, Two hours later I bathed, dressed and caught up on last night's posts. i'm very happy to know that new DR LarryR is not another pseudonym for the dread DotM, and I look forward to learning more about him. As to the pathetic DotM, go away.

Today, I need to work some more on my BABES Vol 2 Report and proofread the second number for the Indianapolis Symphony. Around 4:45 I need to head to midtown to meet my friend Darrel for dinner on 46th Street.

BK, I'm sorry to hear of your friend's battle with cancer. I wouldn't be surprised if cancer were a term like the common cold: a generic term for any number of violent invasions attempting to kill us off. That leads me to my disgust for these tv commercials for Cancer Treatment Centers of America which daily regale me with stories of how the patients' doctors treated them badly and called them names, driving the patient to Cancer Treatment Centers of America for hope and cure.  I don't mean to knock anything offering hope and possible cure, but I detest these commercials.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good Healing Vibes to BK's Friend Debby, to the friend of DR John G, to DR Jane's Sherlock, and others! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is the 16th year for the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. The classic cruisers have been in town (Metropolitan Detroit area) since Monday. The weather has been pretty good all week, however, today, the official day of the cruise, has rain predicted. Still there will be thousands of people out on Woodward Avenue. I will not be getting anywhere near Woodward today.
Howdy, kidz. Chuck and I finished tiling the shower yesterday. Looks pretty fine. I started that job 2 years ago... got stuck at 'Step 1: affix a batten to the backer board.' Oy, power tools... I'm a Jew in the Woods. (that'll be the title of the next tome) Now we have a pile o' tiles left over, so we're going to tile the whole damn floor of said bathroom.
Why is it that the people who will fall in love with this house and buy it for the price I want, will have all these nice upgrades - when I lived without them for so long??? Ah, well... I get a month of the pleasure, at least.
Another cold and gloomy day up here in the Northwest - summer came and went over one weekend in July. The trees are turning color, the raccoons are stuffing their little faces in preparation for a long winter's nap. And I feel the migratory urges and the heartbreak of leaving again, maybe for the last time. Sigh...
I got some wonderful feedback from last week's 4-actor-plus-stage-directions-reader reading of my 4-actor version of JEWISH THIGHS ON BROADWAY at Rogue Machine Theatre. Now my fingers are crossed they'll decide to mount the first ever LA production. Strange comment I got from both my boss, Herr Artistic Director, and a gal on the literary committee: "You're a hell of a writer, and it's very clever... I laughed my head off -- but I've never really been a fan of solo shows."
Hmmmmm.... were we NOT 5 people on that stage???? WTF?
And I got an extra writing assignment from my editor at Bunker Hill Magazine - the regular monthly column PLUS a short piece about the Downtown Film Festival LA, for the September issue! Oh, boy!!!
AND!!! LA Ballet has asked for my expertise at grant proposal writing! Scribble, scribble, scribble...
About this cure for cancer... During my mother's long and arduous descent into Nevermore, she said: Everybody dies of something. There will never be a cure for death. That's why you have to live while you're living.
And several types of cancer, which used to be quite universally fatal, now have cure rates above 90%...
TOD:
I'm sure that many of you would pick "cure the world of all disease" (e.g. AIDS, cancer, etc.) as your miracle, so since that one is well covered:
I would have all of the world's terrorists and/or terrorist wannabes join Adolph Hitler wherever he might be.
TOD (addendum):
On the other hand, if this was to be a personal miracle,  rather than one that would benefit all of Mankind, I would see to it that I won an Academy Award.
That would, indeed, be a miracle.
What a strange reaction he had, Penny.
Odd, in NY, the Shere Rene Scott show that was on Broadway in May and June had three supporting players, but could never get beyond the impression that it was a solo show.
John G., maybe I misread one of your posts yesterday; but I thought you wrote that Reno opens ANYTHING GOES with "I Get A Kick Out of You."  But she doesn't in any prodcution I have ever seen. I have always seen the show open with "You're The Top."
