As if the lovely Peter Filicia mention of my book in his gift-giving column wasn't enough, here's another - this one from a DC theater site:

Scroll down to the books.

The Merry Searchers are back with a vengeance and being very outre - multiple searches for "herring."  I knew this site has an obsession with FISH, but perhaps it's our many references to a dead herring in the moonlight.  Or is there someone named Herring around here?  Another popular search today is "London bombing" - I had no idea haineshisway.com was the kind of site where you'd search such a topic.

I have been evaluated and remain a quality employee for another year (which will be my 20th).
...

Of course, WE already knew that - Congratulations, DR Ben!

So, Elmore, any idea who the new neighbor will be?

The apartment above the Oaf has been empty since August, I've heard, so it may be a period of silence until they rent it. I suspect painters and carpenters will be in first.

Spats has calici virus (or something like that). I was advised that he will always have it and/or be a carrier of it. Stress will make it flare up and that I should make sure he goes to the adoption bus and back home until he gets adopted and not go to the shelter again to cut down on the stress. And if I know of anyone who would like to adopt him, that would be even better.

I have returned from my doctor's appointment (uneventful) and my grocery shopping (very eventful).  At the doctor's office they used the finger-stick thingy to test my blood and it's a little too thin.  I could have told them that after yesterday's paper cut!  Anyway, just a slight adjustment in my Coumadin and I don't have to go back for 3 months.

At Kroger, I'd just ordered sliced ham at the deli when someone yelled from the other end of the counter that the rotisserie oven was on fire.  Sure enough, flames and lots of smoke and unresponsive management (sounds like my former workplace...).  Eventually, the geniuses figured out that they should probably clear the store.  Fortunately, I had what I needed in my cart already and they had all check-out lanes open to get people out expeditiously.  My cashier was the manager of the floral department.

There's already been one Oaf so why not another? :)

DR Laura, bring Spats to New York ASAP.

I was walking in the grocery store and the fresh cranberries started to call me. (They have dulcet voices, in an alto range, in case you hear any calling you.)

So, I'm  now trying to work on a cherry-cranberry pie. I will likely use lemon juice, almond extract and brown sugar, but don't know about any other spices.

So, cranberries, everyone.

The Oaf has officially left the building, I do believe. I just came in and found his father waiting for him in thr lobby while he said goodbye to the super, Steve, and his wife.

I had a ton of mail to pick up, including the new book about Bock and Harnick, which I think I will look at tonight.

Well...

It's currently in the mid-60s here in Richmond. Alas, it's a bit gray, and rain is in the forecast with storms supposed to move in later tonight.

In other words, good napping weather... Which I'm sure I'll be doing since I don't think I slept for more than an 45 minutes at a time last night.

And I just heard from one of my roommates... He, too, got hit with something over the weekend. Luckily, he's been writing papers and preparing for his finals, but he hasn't left the apartment for the past four days.

I'm really tired from getting only three or four hours of sleep and, as always when I've overtired, it goes right to my throat.  So, I've just been taking it easy today.
