Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so Monday and were touched with madness, and now it is time for you to post until the mad cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANEGYRICALLY!
-
Last night, I went to and participated in a reading of "All the World's a Grave," a "new" Shakespeare play by John Reed (he took several Shakespeare plays, mixed and matched speeches and scenes and created a relatively new story). It was long. I got there at about 7:00 pm. We started reading at about 7:20 and finished at 10:40! :P The consensus was that it was too long and there was a lot that didn't need to be there and it essentially ended up being a white version of Othello. It was disappointing to our director, Pug. She was hoping that it would've been better...and funnier. They're now thinking of creating their own mash-up of two (or three, at the most) stories. We'll see what happens. They need something cheap, and since Shakespeare's in the public domain, it can't get cheaper than that.
-
But the good thing was that when I got home, the latest Adriana Hofstetter book was waiting for me!
-
But now, I must go to bed. I'm taking my car in for its annual service. I use my income tax refund to pay for it. Hopefully, it won't cost more than what I have left. ::)
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Last night we set up the turntable on the computer as well as the tape player. They both work so Anthony will have no problem continuing to transfer records to CDs.
-
We also found that the tape to cd machine has exactly the type of USB cord I need for the printer. We have a shorter cable but because of the length I couldn't use it for the printer (too far away and no room to move the printer closer). Anthony now has the shorter cable and I took the longer one, downloaded the new printer driver from Brother and the laser printer is up and running. Now we just need to get a new scanner and our technology is up to date.
-
I just heard the news about Ahnold and Maria.
What a scumbag! Ahnold, that is.
-
Good morning, all! After a night of terrible and unsettlng dreams filled with alens, a horrible death, treachery, deceit, and Audra McDonald (part of the treachery), I was wide awake at 5 am. After deliberating for 30 minutes, I got out of bed, showered and dressed. It's time for the first cup of coffee.
First thing this morning, a trek to Toyland to check on things. I will come back here and get ready for my annual physical exam at 1:15. When I return from that, I've got lots of Appalachian thinking and writing to accomplish. That's my day.
-
It's physical day in Manhattan. I'm having my physical today at 11am.
I had my blood work done last week. I don't expect any issues.
It's lightly raining/misting in Manhattan at 6:35am
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm not yet back in the swing of getting up to go to work. It's hard at this hour of the morning to keep both eyes open.
-
TOD: I don't know how heralded she was in her day, but I think Ida Lupino has been unjustly neglected as both an actress and director.
-
Time to head out! The sooner i'm back from Toyland, the sooner I can get ready for my appointment.
DR JohnG, I haven't sent your DVD yet, but it is wrapped and ready to go! I doublt I'll get to it until this weekend.
-
I haz finished the book.....but I have to get an oil change before I can comment....that is for the car.

TOD:
Former SNL'er Maya Rudolph. She was absolutely wonderful in the overlooked film AWAY WE GO. And this fall she's a supporting player in some sit-com. I hope for better things for her.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Another cool and gloomy morning here in SW Ohio. Today I must grocery shop, continue sorting, shredding, and filing, and attend a meeting this evening of the program planning committee for AAUW.
-
Greetings from Toyland! I've had a wet walk and a strange experience when I got here! More to follow when I have the time . . .
-
Good morning. Another usually cool day in Arizona for May. I'll be outside all day!
-
Let's all go out and play!
-
BK,
How can you talk about THE COMANCHEROS and not mention my friend, Michael Ansara, who plays the "lead" heavy.
>:(
According to Michael, Wayne directed a good deal of that film, because Curtiz was very ill and not up to the task. Star and driector butted heads several times.
-
TOD:
Michael Ansara

Bruce, I specifically asked Candy about you, and she never said one word about having worked with you. She said she thought she knew you through Janet McSweeney. That said, she also was giggling because IMDb has her listed as having done voicework for something she said she has absolutely no memory of, and I told her she needed to ask for residuals. :)
-
Ah-nold fathered an illegitimate child by their housekeeper. So now we know the reason for that separation.
-
My voice is a bit better today.
So today is my niece's actual 2nd birthday. Her little 3 year old friend called her this morning to wish her a happy birthday. Anyway when the phone rang my niece thought it was me. So she made my sister call me at 7:30am.
So my voice is all croaky. I say happy birthday. She listens to my voice and starts to crack up. Then she says "more nana" (not sure why but she can't say auntie so that is what she has decided to call me). She wanted me to sing her happy birthday in my croaky voice so she could laugh at me! :)
-
Last night my sister packaged up some birthday presents for my niece to open today.
When she went into the kitchen last night she found my niece had opened all the packages and was reading her new Dora book. :)

TOD:
Allison Hayes
Carroll Baker - although she gets some good attention now and then
Michael Pasdar

What a great season finale of CHUCK last night.
-
The most interesting thing happening in our family today is DS Rob's "ride along" with a Middletown police officer. It's part of his paramedic training and said officer, who used to be a firefighter, is a former student of DH Richard's.
-
I think it is a real shame, JMK. Twenty-five years is a long time for a celebrity marriage.
-
If you couldn't get Michelle Lee, why not try for the woman she replaced--Lainie Kazan?
-
Very interesting DR GINNY.
-
TOD:
all of my favorites are unheralded and underappreciated.
-
Somehow or other I did not log onto HHW over the weekend and now I have several days worth of HHW posts to catch up on.
-
My favorite new TV series, OUTSOURCED, has been cancelled. :'(
I will certainly miss that program and the characters. Such a funny and sweet show. Moving it from 9pm to 10:30 PM was pretty much a death blow to it.

I liked several of the actors on that show.....hmmmmmmmmm....certainly worse shows are still around.

My review of the new book is awaiting publication at Amazon.

Catherine Burns (Oscar nominated for "Last Summer" and absolutely wonderful in "Red Sky at Morning"...and then her career fizzled).
-
I remember when they re-released RED SKY AT MORNING to cash in on the LOVE STORY craze. And it tanked that time, too. :)
-
Somehow or other I did not log onto HHW over the weekend and now I have several days worth of HHW posts to catch up on.
What happened? Did you get jailed for loitering in lobbies of geriatric centers?
-
Actually, maybe what I'm remembering is a re-jiggered campaign for the film after LOVE STORY took off, since it seems they were both released around the same time.
-
So, I got to Toyland, and I was checking out all the rooms when this man walked into the office and scared the hell out of me. Turns out it was our cleaning man Arnold, who's got a set of keys, but he was there on Friday cleaning when I arrived so he wasn't there to tidy.
He said he was looking for a phone number he thought he'd left on the piano. I hadn't moved anything so, I know nothing about a misplaced phone number. He said he'd left it on the piano with his keys, but he took the keys with him when he left on Friday. Why didn't he take the phone number? Or is he coming in and out of the offiice for other reasons?
It has me puzzled and a bit freaked.
-

TWO AND A HALF MEN, for one!
-
Jerry Lewis' announcement that he will only be on hand to sing You'll Never Walk Alone this year reminds me of one of my favorite stories from Betsy's news anchoring career.
She worked at two huge Chicago stations that were so big the anchors didn't write their own copy. She got handed copy at the last second one day as the Jerry Lewis Telethon was shutting down for the year, and the news writer had finished the story with this classic line: Jerry Lewis closed the telethon with an emotional rendition of You'll Never Walk Again.
-
I made a tasteless joke about Ah-nold this morning referencing Two and a Half Men:
Maria, Maria, you know that show Two and a Half Men? Well, we have four and a half children.
-
What a great season finale of CHUCK last night.
I thought it was pretty good, too.
The season finale of "Castle", however, was PHENOMENAL!

I know the situation is ripe for humor, but I thought that Andy Borowitz' jokes were more crude than funny.
I'm looking forward to hearing Jay Leno's take on it. Or, Jon Stewart's.

Actually, maybe what I'm remembering is a re-jiggered campaign for the film after LOVE STORY took off, since it seems they were both released around the same time.
"Love Story" was 1970 and "Red Sky,... was 1971.
Maybe they re-released both films (in 1972?) as a double bill....hoping to capitalize on the popularity of one in order to recoup costs of the other. They're not similar types of films...one a coming-of-age and one a love story between a privileged law student and a poor music student).

The Schwarzenegger situation makes me think of the first act of PLAZA SUITE where the wife is (at first) not so much upset by her husband's affair with his secretary as she is by his lack of effort and imagination at finding a mistress.

Thanks for the link, DR JRand - I've ordered and should have the book by the weekend!

Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And I really wish the sun would come out again sometime sooner rather than later.
-
And, yes, it's another rainy, drizzly, gray, it's-raining-again day here in New York City. There were a couple of big claps of thunder earlier this morning that woke me up... And then I went back to bed for a bit.

DR elmore - Did you ask the cleaning man if he had your ruler?

Happy Birthday to DR Jennifer's Dear Niece!!

But now, I must go to bed. I'm taking my car in for its annual service. I use my income tax refund to pay for it. Hopefully, it won't cost more than what I have left. ::)
I've been dropped off at work and the estimate for the servicing (this year) is less than half of what it usually has been! I'm very happy now! :D

I'm not yet back in the swing of getting up to go to work. It's hard at this hour of the morning to keep both eyes open.
I need to start thinking about that "swing" too in order to get ready for Oklahoma! rehearsals down in DC. Rehearsals will be starting at 10:00am, which means I'll have to be up by 7:30am in order to make sure I'm able to make it from Fairfax to southwest DC in time. I'm actually thinking of just getting up earlier in order to head into work with my brother - there's a Metro stop right at his office building - and using the extra time before rehearsals for some reading, practicing and preparation. Thankfully, since this is a remount, the rehearsal period will only be two and a half weeks. -Then I won't have to worry about showing up at the theatre until show time.
-
What a great season finale of CHUCK last night.
I thought it was pretty good, too.
The season finale of "Castle", however, was PHENOMENAL!
:o NO SPOILERS PLEASE!! I HAVEN'T SEEN EITHER EPISODE YET! I'll watch them tonight.
Thank you.

I checked my mail here at work and Camelot and Until September have arrived! And as I was typing this, our mail clerk just handed me a personal package from Amazon and in it are Galaxy Quest (on Blu-ray) and Edisaurus' very own "Jews and Baseballs" It's like my birthday all over again! :D
-
AND I just got an e-mail notice that the library's copy of "Jews and Baseball" is ready for me to pick up! What a coinkydink!
-
I'm off to the grocery - in the cold rain :P
Bye for now!
-
I'm up after another good night's sleep, but this is the last time for the next few weeks that I can sleep past nine.
-
Jrand, thanks for the nice review!
-
JMK - Candy's memory is, shall we say, a little funky. I talk in the book extensively about the little short we made, but it's thirty years ago now. And we met each other originally through Pat McQueeney who was our manager.

Hi everyone!!! I have decided to re-join the human race which is HHW.
On Sunday, I moved into my new apartment in Foster City, CA. and a new beginning has begun.
So, now that I'm settled and have my computer much more accessible, so I'll be able to check in more and join in on the laughter and merriment that is HHW.
The events of the last 2 months will be in the memoirs, or in a cabaret act if bk is interested in directing it!!
It's so lovely to be back. :)
-
Jrand, thanks for the nice review!
Y.W.
-
DR JOSE I am very excited about reading about your OKLAHOMA! experience!
-
Another run thru tonight......we shall see what we shall see....the stage crew seems most unorganized and more interested in standing around and talking than anything else.
-
Welcome Back, DR Matthew! Welcome Home, DR Matthew!
-
DR JOSE I am very excited about reading about your OKLAHOMA! experience!
So am I, DR JRand. I have a planning meeting/phone call coming up in a bit for "The Road to Opening Night". And once that is done, then I need to figure out just when I want to head down to DC on a more "full-time" basis. Right now, I'm thinking June 10 will be the day.
-
Another run thru tonight......we shall see what we shall see....the stage crew seems most unorganized and more interested in standing around and talking than anything else.
Why don't you just join their conversations? ::)

DR elmore - Did you ask the cleaning man if he had your ruler?
I feared he was coming in to steal the other!

Welcome back, DR Matthew.

And, yes, it's another rainy, drizzly, gray, it's-raining-again day here in New York City. There were a couple of big claps of thunder earlier this morning that woke me up... And then I went back to bed for a bit.
We have a 20% chance of rain tomorrow. This is VERY unusual for May. We usually don't get rain in May or June -- none until the monsoon comes, which the last couple of years has been August. We are all hoping for some rain.
-
Thanks everyone. As soon as the apartment is unpacked, I'll post some pictures.
-
Welcome back DR Matthew. Keith had an apartment in Foster City during one of our relocations. I enjoyed the time I spent in the area.
-
Rain vibes for laura & kerry!!!
-
Oakland is cold, rainy and gray today.
It would have been a perfect day to stay home and sleep.
-
One of my co-workers has been on a rampage today -- he's been trying to create a user ID with a federal agency and has hit brick walls all day. I'm fairly certain it's his fault. He called for my help and then acted like he didn't like anything I was doing to try helping him. So, I got up and returned to my desk. End of story.
He now has his door closed but the little fits he has thrown throughout the day has most of us certain he's headed for a stroke.

Are we STILL on page 4?
-
We need some Grecian urns, I think.
-
One Grecian Urn!
-
Two Grecian Urns!
-
The Third Grecian Urn has a chip on its rim.
-
The Fourth Grecian Urn lies on its side next to the creek.
-
The Third Grecian Urn has a chip on its rim.
Does that make it debris?
-
The Fifth Grecian Urn has figures on it which Mayor Shinn declared immoral. He painted clothes on them.
-
The Sixth Grecian Urn sits on a shelf in the Mercantile. It has nice colors and the ladies on it wear flowing gowns. Mrs. Shinn has been studying it for some time.
-
The Third Grecian Urn has a chip on its rim.
Does that make it debris?
Roger!
-
There's a Seventh Grecian Urn that has bulls on it. Everyone presumes it was agricultural, although they don't quite understand why there's a nekkid man on it, too.
-
The Eighth Grecian Urn has cracked through and through. It's being mended by the Ladies Restoration and Reconstruction Committtee.
-
The Ninth Grecian Urn rests in the trophy case at Madison High School. It has athletes on it.
-
The Tenth Grecian Urn is over to the Library where Miss Marian has it behind a glass door. You can only see one side of it, and the town's ladies are certain there must be something unsightly on the back as Miss Marian won't let anyone inspect it.
-
Nobody has ordered the Eleventh and Twelfth Grecian Urns yet as the town's coffers are a bit low until the Ladies' Committee on Baked Goods and Handicrafts holds its next exposition over in Madison Park.
-
That's a full set of Grecian Urns....iffen anybody here got to wonderin'.
-
I've been finishing up my opening night gift for Mr Ron Raines, and it is now wrapped, attached to a greeting card, and ready to be mailed tomorrow. He's getting great word of mouth for his performance. I hope it leads to some really good things.
-
Chaucer!
-
Rabelais!
-
BALzac!
-
I'm feeling quite envious of JRand. I wish "I" was in a production of "The Music Man" right now.
-
The co-worker's door has been opened. Not a poop out of him, either. (I think I meant peep).
-
If we can just move this page along a few more posts, we'll be on page 5.
-
I don't mind help...really I don't.
-
I wonder if Amaryllis will grow up to become a sadder but wiser girl.
-
Is it true that Ethel Toffelmier had possession of that Eight Grecian Urn and accidentally sat on it?
-
This post might do it!

You did it, Ron!

Back from a sandwich and fries and Xeroxing, but the Xerox, which was supposed to be ready by the time I finished lunch, wasn't, so I have to go back there in thirty minutes - pain in the ASS.

I went back to pick up the Xeroxing, even gave them an extra fifteen minutes. The guy who usually takes care of me was there and said he hadn't even started it yet. I explained to him that the idiot who took the stuff told me an hour - then when I came back an hour later he told me they needed another thirty minutes. So, I had to come back again. Turns out the idiot didn't even tell the guy about it or me or when I was coming to get it! My guy did it while I waited and then didn't charge me for the order, which was very nice of him. I think he'll probably be having some words with the idiot.

Andy Taylor came by and picked up his and Alet's music and CDs.

Lawyers always say that clients in our court appointed cases don't appreciate what we do. I have never believed that. Today, the client from yesterday who got to go home to her 5 kids and granddaughter instead of going to jail or prison sent me a plant, balloons and a willow tree thank you angel. It really made me smile. It took the delivery guy 2 trips!!

Kirstie is definitely losing weight
-
I can really see it in her shoulders and arms
-
Well, I found my car today. No wandering through endless parking lots. But I made a wrong turn out of the campus and added 25 minutes to my return trip.
The building is as large as the Pentagon from what I'm told. It feels endless, like some sort of airport terminal that stretches on forever. There are even carts to carry people around.

Kirstie is definitely losing weight
Yes, but can she dance? I haven't seen her. I really don't know.

That's nice, Cillaliz. :)

DR Jane - Is it possible that you just need to push your mouse button/keyboard a little harder?

OK, so I have a mattress and box spring to get rid of. In good shape practically new....well the cats snagged it a bit over the winter. Anyway, there was an article on the front page of the paper from three people looking for donations of new and slightly used mattresses to donate to people who don't have beds. SO....I called yesterday, I emailed yesterday, I called today, I emailed today. Nothing. No answer. NADA. It irritates me.
George, be sure and tell Pug that I am working on a musical version of MERCHANT OF VENICE using the music of The Beatles.

My vote is "other reasons."

ROTFLMAO!

Well...I got a call and it's not going to be half of what it usually has been. :P They found a couple of leaks and it'll cost more than the original estimate, but still a little less than previous years' costs. It needs to be done BUT they need it overnight, so I'll walk home tonight and will walk to work tomorrow (good thing I live so close to work). Which means that it's time for me to walk home now.
Until later!

DR Jane - Maybe you have some sort of "slowness" with your internet connection.
-Which browser are you using?
-And depending how you have programmed your mouse buttons, it can be possible to click "too long".

Thank goodness.
-
No one in AZ cares, either.
In fact, I'd wager that no one in the USA cares, really.
-
I never would have thought of adding mint to zucchini. I have mint. Lots of mint.
-
I think I need to order 5 books. Just need to find the box amongst all the boxes in the other room, which I'm trying to make into a sitting / library room. :)

Thank you, John G.

Family values types would care, except that he's in their party. So is Newt Gingrich, another with a similar problem.

I love you guys. Always good laughs. ;)

It is possible he did not expect anyone to be there and thought he might use the copy machine or telephone

I am a terrible gardener. But I picked two zucchinis today. I ate one for dinner.
-
I can not stop listening to Al DiMeola's Orange and Blue CD. And I don't want to stop.
-
Watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray and will now go get something sweet to eat, since I only had a sandwich and fries, and there weren't that many of the latter. It's been a little too chilly to jog.

I love them sliced thin with a drizzle of exceptionally good olive oil on them and maybe some sun-dried tomatoes. Simple but the peak of natural flavors.

You wanna know what I keep hearing in my head? The Trololololo Song. It's too catchy.

So nice to see Matthew back again --- ((((Matthew)))))

thank you all for the nice words about the video

Dumb question, John G., but do you cook them or eat them raw like that?
-
(Not only am I a terrible gardener, I am also a terrible cook.)
-

Raw. I love raw food. Fresher, more alive flavors.
-
Well, then, that sounds like something I could make!
-
bk, is the book ready to order???
-
Night, all.

Book is ready to order - just go to kritzerland.com and it's right on the home page.

Woo Hoo! Heard from Mattress girl. They would love to pick up my mattress. The timing is so funny. Last week SunDee and Adam decided they don't want to try to get the extra bed I have and take it all the way to Wisconsin and this week the front page of the paper has thing.
