A. If most people stopped buying gas today or tomorrow, the oil companies would suffer very little - folks would just have to buy more the day after.

B. Recommended emergency preparedness in areas like Southern CA suggest keeping your tank at least half full.

If people really want to "hurt the oil companies" then replace a "don't buy gas day" with a "don't drive day"!

Skeet Ulrich?  You didn't like Skeet?

Holy Moly....on rye.

Oh, well....diffrent strokes and all that.

I know, I know...but there is just something about him that grates on my nerves...at least in that show.

I told you I needed Elmo and Jose to help...   ;)

There WAS a third coin thrown, though.  I'll have to pull this DVD out and watch it again on my plasma.

Ah yes, that was thrown by the young Italian boy who was working as Louis Jourdan's dresser.

Hi all.

If I ever needed those famous HHW vibes, it is now.

I got here from work and was told that Mom may not make it though the night.  If she does, she won't last but a day or two.  All the signs they tell you about are there so I don't doubt it this time.

Forgive me but I won't be posting for a few days.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  You are such a wonderful group of people.  No one could ask for a better group of friends.

Much love,
Danise

DR Danise, I send vibes to your mother for a speedy and painless passing and huge vibes to you for all the support you can muster to get through this.  [move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]

I've never heard of ANY of those ABC shows.

Did they publicize this "don't buy gas" boycott?  If I hadn't been told about it, I would never have known.  Certainly it wasn't on the AOL News page at any time, nor the roadrunner news page.  Are they owned by oil companies?

I would have been happy to forward any of the eight e-mails I got this week regarding the boycott, but I didn't think you would want me sending you junk e-mails.

Dear BK -- ABSOLUTELY TRUST your instinct on this.  I just wanted to toss you my 2 cents...... your own gut feelings, as to what does and doesn't fit your voice, its range, and its color, I feel are spot on the mark in this instance.

That inherent instinct that you posess, has served you very well in producing other singers, and even guiding the career of Guy Haines.  So don't doubt your inner feeling this time.

Ah haz spoken !

And personally, I have never thought that Guy Haines' voice could hold a candle to Bk's voice.

Then again, why would a voice want to hold a candle?

It has come to my attention that I did not have the special two-disc editions of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and EAST OF EDEN, so I ordered a used copy of each for a total of about $22 including shpg.

DR Danise,

I pray that your mother will have a speedy and painless passing.  And remember, at this difficult time, that you are surrounded by love and friendship from us all.  May God bless you both.

DR Danise...

I'm not sure what the appropriate vibes even ARE at this point.

But know that we are with you and your mother!

I adore good onion rings.

But I'm cooking with a Chinese edge tonight.

Poached boneless/skinless chicken breasts, w. a little sweet and sour dressing

Snow peas w. water chestnuts and mushrooms and a dab of hoisin

Sesame ginger rice.

I've been going though the Beard Foundation's archive on previous book award winners.

So far, checking through the list up to 1984, I know I've six of the books in my library.  That's out of about 120 winners dating back to 1967.

It's facinating how many of the books that have won (up to that time) that I've never heard of.  How fleeting fame can be.

And, when I returned from work this afternoon, I found Becket stuffed in our mailbox.  He looked quite undignified in that position.

And how well-stocked is your library with IACP winners?

*And I suspect The Good Cook Book Club will soon be featuring the IACP and Beard Foundation winners in a nice sale or two.  :)

I don't have much to say.  I went to the visitation for my friend's son. Literally hundreds of people there with a line out the door and down the sidewalk.  There was such raw emotion, it was really heartbreaking.
