Hmmm.... I guess someone did the Snow Dance here in NYC!

Nice, big flakes falling right now.  And some reports saying we could get 1-3 inches of accumulation.  Alas, most of that accumulation will be slush.  But, it's still accumulation!

I've been thinking a lot about the passing of Bobby Short...and his legacy...and his association with NYC.  I was upset not to find his obituary in the NYTimes under that section, but found more than enough wonderful writing about him under Arts/Music in that paper...where he belonged, of course.

It makes me yearn to put "Hannah and Her Sisters" (my favorite movie of the 1980s) in my DVD player and just relish it.

Oh, no wonder I didn't get it, DR RLP.  I have avoided that show for a few years because Debra Messing (the NEW Lucille Ball) gets onto my last nerve with her "stage accent" and .... well her HAIR!

I asked the clerk if I could look at the paper since DR Larry Elmore was a friend of mine.  The clerk got quite snooty and said in an uppity voice, "Well, I guess so."  So I took the paper and started looking for the article at which point....

I woke up.

Freudian analysis welcome.  As long as it's free.

Well, there's my question for the day:  JMK, what in the world?

I just heard the sad news that my friend Theodore Uppman, the great opera singer, died last week!  I knew he was in bad health, but once again my good intentions of getting over for a visit with him and his beautiful wife Jean since last April have paved one more road in hell.  He was a great singer, and a lovely gentleman.  He will be missed by many who loved him as much as I.

I have LAURA lined up as the next DVD, but I didn't get to it this afternoon. Had lunch out and then had errands to run. Maybe tomorrow.

I think a 4 year old would be bored with INTO THE WOODS after awhile. There are a lot of stories going on, and the music would seem to be just a bit too sophisticated to hold one's interest at that age.

But I haven't been around many 4 year olds, so what do I know?

DR Jennifer - When our son was about 4, he loved the animated Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown.  It also would not completely bore the 9 year old, I suspect.

I forgot to mention that the flying apparatus for the PDX Peter Pan was by Cirque du Soleil (no joke).  They brought up a couple of techs from whatever the show is in Las Vegas.  It was really spectacular--Adair could fly out over pit and completely over the first several rows of the audience.  We got bathed in "fairy dust" every night and twice on Sundays!!

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?

I had an amusing and nice e-mail from a member of The Grass Roots rock band - he grew up in my nabe and has been reading and enjoying the Kritzer books.

Being discussed on the IdolonFox.com "Community" chat room:

Thread subject:  "Who is Donny Almond?"

Reason:  Donny Osmond was in the audience last night and Ryan Seacrest introduced him and had him stand and wave.

Answer to query in thread subject line:

"He's a singer from a long time ago.""

I'm thinking "Chat" is full of 10-year-olds.

Hi folks!  I was tired.  I slept most of the morning away.  When I got up, Mom and I talked about the trip.  Then I went online and answered some e-mails.  Then I caught up on all of the posts but was so tired by the time I finished them that I said the heck with it and went and laid back down.  Bear went with me.

I woke up about a half hour ago and feel pretty good now.

I had another Mr. Toads Wild Ride home last night.  The van driver took a wrong turn and we went to Saint Petersburg!  Yikes!

Hey, DR Ben, we DO look alike!  I didn’t believe it when I think DR Elmore told me that but when I saw the picture of us, I have to agree.

I can’t BELIEVE I missed the snow by one day.  Dog gone it.  I really wanted to see some.

But, I did get to go ice skating! You would have been so proud of me—I was as graceful as a gazelle in underpants.

I went around the ring ten times and I didn’t fall.  Not even once.  One guy slammed me into the wall because HE couldn’t stop but I didn’t fall even then.  I’m not saying that I was in the middle of the ring but I was an arms length off of the side. I even went around a few times without touching the side at all.  I was passing people that were on the side as well.

All in all, I was very pleased with myself.  The downside was that I got so hot and sweaty under the sweater and coat that when I got off of the ice I got the chills.  By the time I went back to my hotel room, my teeth were chattering.  I took a good hot bath and changed into some new warm clothes (including my long johns) and I was fine.

Vixmom, don’t feel bad—I know how you feel.  I wish I had time to talk to everyone.  We were such a merry group that night.  You know that usually I am very shy around a new group of people and find it very hard to say very much to anyone.   I felt so comfortable with everyone of our group that there was none of that shyness.  You all made me feel so welcome.

I loved meeting everyone.   I can’t thank you all enough for one of the most wonderful times I’ve ever had.

I have to upload my photos and resize some of them then I will post them.

I would like copies of the ones that have already been posted.  I will gladly send copies of the ones I took.

So much to say I can't get my thoughts straight.

DR Jose, the wi fi card does work but the PDA screen is so small that I had to keep scrolling back and forth to read the posts--it was giving me quite a headache.  I vow to have a notebook computer for next time and as I have a nice chunk of money left over from the trip, that might be as soon as this weekend.

I have found my hotel.  I just LOVED the Muse.  When I come back (note I am not saying IF) I shall stay there.  They had everything one could want.  From an umbrella to the bathrobe to a room safe to the mini bar to, to, to!  The room was large and quiet.  I didn't have to ask for a bathtub/shower either.

I had my bed turned down for me every evening and a cookie/cake thing that was quite good was waiting for me as well.  I always enjoyed it the next morning with my tea.

The dogs really missed me.  I was almost knocked over with dog kisses and thumping tails when I was greeted by them last night.  Bear slept by my side and wouldn't leave me today.

It was wonderful to get away but wonderful to come home.  I missed my mom and was very happy to see that she was ok.   :D ;D

Today is National Chip and Dip Day.

I am now going to try to catch up with the last couple of day's posts.  But we may have to leave on another adventure mid-read.  Be patient with me.
