I'm off to rehearsal!  Tonight, we run act two...last night was all of act one.  I only have one line in act one, but I come on and go off stage a few times.  I have two lines in act two and a lot more stage business. :) It's fun!

Since I missed most of THE CLOSER Season 2, I started watching it tonight.  I was so happy to see my old friend Kevin Kilner, even if he were the killer!

And then waited less-patiently:

And then gave up!

Woody was released at 4 PM

der Brucer

Yep, finally released two hours after I was supposed to get off work.

My schedule gets crazier and crazier.

I was originally supposed to have today off.  Nope, schedule got changed, today was added, they needed someone to watch over the self-checkout lanes.

I have tomorrow off.

Thursday, I was supposed to go in at six AM.  That got switched - the gal who works the night shift has to have some time off for family business, so I'm going in at four in the morning!  (I expect that der Brucer will still be up at that hour, so he can get me up and drive me to work.)

Friday is more normal, a six hour shift.

But for Saturday, I've been asked to come in another couple of hours early, covering for another checker who will be out.

This brings me up to a 44-hour workweek.

This is what we call semi-retired.

My gosh, can you imagine how many Daddy Day cards MBarnum must send out?
That does it - I'm buying stock in Hallmark.

Bruce, have a nice drive if there is such a thing anymore.  I remember when it was fun to drive to the valley and back to West L.A.

Well, I suppose I should pack. I hate packing for a conference in a place that is having hot weather. It's always freezing in the conference rooms and really hot outside....too many clothes to pack!
Just wear your favorite sable fur coat to the meetings.

And nothing else!  That'll show 'em!

Yowza!!!

With all the crap going on in my life these days, it's always nice for something good to occur.  I'm featured once again by my publisher!

You can actually look at some pages of music.

Nice, Larry! I sent it on.

For most of the other featured composers and arrangers, they have a picture.  For Larry's piece, they have...a Virgin

LOL.

Hhmmmm, and not one person has mentioned THE EXORCIST II.

I believe that if you go back and read my selections, you'll find that I mentioned it and THE MEDUSA TOUCH.

Well, I went to DQ to get a root beer float. They gave me a glass full of ice cream with a little bit of root beer.  I took one drink and the root beer was gone.  So, I stopped at a convenience store and bought a bottle of root beer.  I didn't need all of it, but it was worth it

So, apparently winning a Tony for best revival is absolutely meaningless.

For the box-office, yes.

For the producers' egos, definitely not.

I saw Richard Burton's VILLAIN. It wasn't a bad performance, but as I recall, he was the whole show. The rest of it was not very good.

Today I finished the first Donald Strachey mystery - DEATH TRICK. Because I enjoyed the two movie versions that were broadcast on here! and then later on DVD (where I saw them; naturally no Bible Belt cable system is going to carry an all-gay network), I decided I'd read some of the series that haven't yet been filmed. This oine was written in 1979, so it was pre-AIDS, and there's a lot of sleeping around. Donald is dating Timmy but they haven't become a couple yet. The mystery is not quite as good as either of the two books already filmed (obviously why they were chosen instead of this first one).

Today in my Gold Box at Amazon, another of the Strachey books was there for a discount - ICE BLUES, so I bought it. Just got the shipping notice that it shipped early this evening. I might have it by the weekend. Hooray!

I began my evening's entertainment with another ANGEL episode. Cordelia is about to give birth, and the gang is doing everything they can to locate her before she does. Good prep episode for the one to follow.

Next I watched the Blu-ray disc version of RIO BRAVO. I haven't watched this movie all the way through in decades, and high definition is definitely the way to see it. Apart from two overly grainy scenes, the video is sharp in that three dimensional way, clear of artifacts, and with sensually rich Technicolor, very deeply saturated.

I think the film is a pinch too long (maybe that song that Martin and Nelson duet on could have been cut, though it's beautiful singing), but just when you think nothing's happening, something does. The action set pieces are so much fun to watch. And Walter Brennan chews up the scenery like nobody's business making his every appearance loads of fun.

Nope, but I loved the film "The Krays!"

Me, too. Gary and Martin Kemp came to our Video Music Channel to promote the film, and Spandau Ballet was also on tour so we interviewed them as an actors that day and then went to see the band that night. (I think they had just reunited at that point.) Good concert! Cute boys!

I don't think I have a favorite Liz Taylor film, but probably her finest performance was in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. As for Mr. Burton he made more crap that good films but Ann of a 1000 Days, Beckett, Equus, ...Woolf and believe it or not Where Eagles Dare.

His biggest embarasment? Playing himself on The Fall Guy

Wow---he looks really different from his role in the show. That was a heart-rending last scene he had in the electronics room!
