Well, you've read the notes, the notes had good vamps and rideouts, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently arguing about what an arranger does and what an orchestrator does.
-
And the word of the day is: CLOU!
-
Right now, I'm playing my videotape of The Light in the Piazza and recording it on my DVD burner to make a DVD. It looks pretty good for a video, but the DVD (especially when blown up to fill the widescreen TV) is a bit blurry. :-\ But it's better than nothing.
After that will eventually be "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," that I got from Netflix.
-
The problem with TLitP is that the sound drops out for a fraction of a second throughout the entire video. The PBS station that broadcast it does that. I have other videos that this happens on. It's very frustrating. :P

This jernt is like a ghost town late at night.

BK, I love reading about the early years of your career. Thanks for sharing. :)

Clou (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clou)
-
I'm not listening to anything right now.
I have no plans for this evening, tomorrow or Sunday. Although tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful "Spring" day (although Spring is still two weeks away) so I will most likely be out and about. I may take a long walk, maybe up to Central Park or down to Battery Park City instead of riding the exercise bike.
I have to go to midtown to the Credit Union on my lunch hour.
I don't know what I will do about lunch.
Wow, this is just like tweeting only I'm not on a phone. And these would be single posts (since they are under 140 characters).

Would my followers be interested in my trip to the Credit Union?

Hmmm, this is a replay of yesterday although I won't have the entire page to myself (not that I did yesterday, Bruce and DAW had a few posts on Page 1).
-
7 more.
-
I'll log into the BBC at some point.
-
And I may listen to Wish You Were Here and Salad Days and There's No Business Like Show Business with Ethel and Donald and Marilyn and Dan and Mitzi
-
Remember, Spring Ahead on Saturday at 2am or Sunday when you wake up.

Most of the snow is gone from Manhattan. I don't know what it's like on Long Island.

I have a headache and I'm cranky.

Actor Clarence Swensen dies
Performer played a Munchkin in 'Wizard of Oz'
Clarence Swensen, who played a Munchkin soldier in the "The Wizard of Oz," died Feb. 25 in Pflugerville, Texas. He was 91.
He had being in poor health since suffering a stroke in 2005, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
In the late 1930s, Swensen joined The Stanley R. Graham All Midget Circus troupe, which performed at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas. It eventually led to an offer from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to play a Munchkin, earning a salary of $700.
Swensen had regularly attended Wizard of Oz festivals. He was among seven of the surviving actors who played the inhabitants of Munchkinland present when the Munchkins received a collective star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna and three daughters.

No word on the database.

Actually, I don't tweet only because most people do it on their phones and I have a pay as you go cell phone and the text feature is clunky and expensive so I don't use it. I know I could tweet from a computer but that makes it hard to tweet if you're out and about.

FOR BK
I put the 14 songs you have mentioned over last few days into an IPod Playlist
Below is the order I put them in.
I tried to open and close the playlist with two "big" upbeat selections. I tried not to put two ballads or Liz Callaway's cuts one after another. From tracks 5-12 did three upbeats and then a ballad. And tried to use the same kind of songs for 1 & 14 and 2 & 13
If you were to put these 14 songs on a CD what order would you put them and why?
1) Come To The Supermarket In Old Peking
2) Joey, Joey, Joey
3) If You Haven't Got An Ear For Music
4) What Can You Lose?
5) It's A Lovely Day For A Walk
6) Song Of The Pirates/The Elegant Captain Hook
7) Impossible/Suddenly It Happens
8) Too Happy Dancing
9) Nothing More To Say
10) What's New Pussycat?
11) You're Just In Love
12) Evening Star
13) Multitudes of Amy
14) You Can Fly/I'm Flying

Good morning, all! My morning is tied up with BABES IN TOYLAND libretto annotations and my afternoon session with Mr Frank Loesser.
BK, I feel like my life is flashing before my eyes with your notes! I really am enjoying them quite a lot, and I'm sorry the fairy tale albums didn't continue: I really wanted to do an ALICE IN WONDERLAND and Chris Durang wanted to be the White Rabbit. I love the image of you singing the flying ballet into a pay phone! I am so looking forward to the next Hoffstetter mystery as much as ANYA.

Saw a British/Irish film earlier in the week called 9 Dead Gay Guys. The synopsis in Netflix made it sound like a very funny comedy.
Well it was a comedy but not a laugh out loud comedy. Also they seemed to abandon the concept of the story as it was described in the synopsis. Somewhere in the middle of the film they took a right turn and dumped the concept and ended the story abruptly as if they ran out money and had to wind up the plot rather quickly.

I thought that after everybody sang that the outcome was extremly predictable. But i don't see
why they couldn't just announce who made it to the F12. Instead they had to bring out each
group. They started with jasmine. And said she was through. She sang really well last night.
And you could tell by the judge's reaction to her song that she was gonna make it. They had
megan and tatiana standing together. I knew they loved megan and that she would make it.
Plus they were not at all happy with tatiana's singing or song choice (repeated a song). So I
knew she was out. She broke down of course. Uggh. I knew von was out based on what they
said about him last night. Same with ricky braddy. Jesse sang a really weird song. Plus they
had already put 2 girls through. So i knew she was out. Then they had anoop and matt g. Both
got great reviews last night. I knew anoop was very popular and that they would take him for
sure. But they loved matt last night. Anyhow they announce matt makes it. Then anoop gets all
sad. Then simon announces that they decided to do something different this year: Final 13. So
Anoop gets through. Apparently it had been announced (but i missed it) that there would be
some big change/announcement last night. Although i was like 90% sure when anoop and matt
were standing there that they would both go through. So we have jasmine, megan, matt and anoop.
Considering those were the choices, i was okay with them. Although they were not who
i would have put in the wildcard. My favorite of these is megan. I think she has potential. But did
not love her last night. hello be aoiu oiudf ioudf iu kj kj 987 whay ejkekj why woiuoi fk dfkllj jkkjk

I began my morning with reading the newspaper, but since my work project for the weekend is JAG - Season 8, I wanted to go ahead and get started on it. So, I watched the season premiere episode.
This is the follow-up for the season closer in which Lt. Bud Roberts steps on a land mine and blows his right leg off. The episode had nothing to do with a JAG case but Bud's fight for life and flashback clips of Bud's interactions with the show's other stars.
A very moving show (David James Elliott dissolves into tears at the end when Bud finally pulls through a harrowing second operation to take more of his leg and remove his spleen), but I'll hope the show gets back to court cases soon.

EXAMINER (http://www.examiner.com/a-1873794~Christian_salt_seller_hopes_to_shake_up_market.html)
Christian salt seller hopes to shake up market
CRESAPTOWN, Md. (Map, News) - You've heard of kosher salt? Now there's a Christian variety.
Retired barber Joe Godlewski says he was inspired by television chefs who repeatedly recommended kosher salt in recipes.
"I said, 'What the heck's the matter with Christian salt?'" Godlewski said, sipping a beer in the living room of his home in unincorporated Cresaptown, a western Maryland mountain community.
By next week, his trademarked Blessed Christians Salt will be available at http://www.memphi.net, the Web site of Memphis, Tenn.-based seasonings manufacturer Ingredients Corporation of America.
…
If the salt takes off, Godlewski plans an entire line of Christian-branded foods, including rye bread, bagels and pickles.

Sad:
One of the Pro-Prop 8 protestors yesterday outside the California Supreme Court proudly held a sign which read:
"Dan White: Hero For Killing A Queer."
I will never understand people who bear such hatred for their fellow man. What particularly depresses me is how often these people characterize themselves as
"Christians" and how often the press will follow suit.
Any true follower of Christ might have some slight recognition that Christ taught
"Love your neighbor as yourself"
and
"Judge not, lest ye be judged"
and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" etc etc
Jesus never mentioned ostracizing people who were "different", let alone advocating injury or killing
Allowing these hatemongers to hide behind the cross refelcts badly on all Christians
and now I will get off of my soapbox

Isd that Josh Stamberg? DR MBarnum and I saw him after the play he forced me to sit through because Brian D'Arcy James was in it!

And I always have a big smile when I see Vixmom posting! ;D

I also have a smile on my face when I see Brian D'Arcy James.

Yes. And Cynthia Nixon.

On TV TOnight!
CBS - GHOST WHISPERER, FLASHPOINT, NUMB3RS
NBC - HOWIE DO IT, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, DATELINE
ABC - WIFE SWAP, SIEGFRED AND ROY report, 20/20
FOX - SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, DOLLHOUSE
SCI - BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
Midway through last weeks SARAH CONNOR we dropped the series.
I dropped it after a couple of episodes this season when it was still on Monday night.
-
Errands went effortlessly today, and it was such a beautiful day I walked around a bit to enjoy the fresh air. I knew I'd be inside all afternoon working, so it was very pleasant enjoying the air and sunshine when it wasn't too warm but instead very comfortable.
-
While I ate a very slight snack/lunch (going out to dinner tonight with my friend Gregg who's in town this weekend), I watched last night's BURN NOTICE. Superb season finale with great capers and many surprises. Loved it!
-
I watched four more JAG episodes (finishing disc one). Dean Stockwell was made Secretary of the Navy by a Bush lookalike in one episode. Doug Savant guest starred in another. These military cases are always so interesting and involving (like a little mini A FEW GOOD MEN in every episode.)
Bud Roberts' slow rehibilitation has been the "B" story if all of the episodes I watched this afternoon. Hopefully, that's going to settle and we can move on.
-
To end my afternoon, I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing, but the boys were in next week's previews and so was Laurence Lau! How great to see him again, even if it's only for a one-off.
-
Jello, not Mallomars.
That was more of an "in" joke aimed at you, actually. ;)
I got it ;) I wanted to make sure DR Vixmom didn't try one, not yet anyway. :)

Apparently tomorrow is Barbie's 50th Birthday.
I am going to a party for her tomorrow.
There are free cupcakes, balloons and presents for the kids.
Careful, not only is Barbie still anorexic, broken up with Ken recently, she now has a tattoo. ::) ;D
-
DR elmore3003 and dB - you make a good point. Name any issue, and you can find wing-nuts and extremists who can take you aback with their fervent beliefs.
Not with Bollywood.
;D ;D

OK, I promise to get off the gay marriage soapbox, but I really liked this Op/Ed piece (http://www.timesdispatch.com/rtd/news/opinion/columnists/article/HINKLE6_20090305-180904/222790/). Follow the link only if it interests you. :)
That was very interesting. I bet a lot of people here would opt for PACS if it were an option. I know young couples who don't want to get married yet they have houses and children together.

Well I found eating that pasta incredibly difficult. I made less than a measuring cup of noodles and managed to eat only four or five little pieces. Oh well baby steps.
Thank you for the food ideas. I think I will try some soup next but I see I will definitely need to supplement with the can for a little while at least.
Maybe you will do better after your first therapy session. So far you have only done the initial testing. CONTINUED PATIENCE VIBES!
Speaking of the therapist, I'm beginning to doubt she/he knew you had been forgotten last time. Maybe no one mentioned it or in reality it was the responsibility of the front desk person.
-
Back from picking up the Illya Darling tapes. In addition to the album masters (stereo and mono) I've got all the session tapes, too, but unless something is drastically wrong with the album masters, I'm not going to do anything with the session masters, other than perhaps look for anything that wasn't used on the album - however, I'd have to mix those tracks, which is VERY costly, especially since the format on these is four-track and who knows if anyone has that type of machine.

Well I passed the swallowing test! I have been told I can start eating real food again.
I have been told to start with soft and creamy foods.
I think I am going to start with egg noodles with alfredo sauce sauce
Great news!

Handy Man 1 still MIA - says he'll be here within the hour. I think I'll go see if I have any mail and maybe get a sandwich.
-
Then again, maybe I won't.
-
Want to ten to a few more little items upstairs and then I'll head back down to try to watch another JAG episode before Gregg arrives. He's supposed to be here around 6:30.

Congratulations on passing your test, DR Vixmom. How about yogurt?

Richard and I just returned from a program at our local public library about Linked In, the professional networking site. There were 3 other people there, all men. One of them is a fellow-retiree and the other 2 are out of work.

Excerpts from Terry Teachout's review for GUYS AND DOLLS in the Wall Street Journal:
Never underestimate the power of a director to louse up a good show. That's what Des McAnuff has done to "Guys and Dolls," a pop-culture masterwork so bulletproof that it's never failed to make its effect, even when performed by amateurs -- until now. Mr. McAnuff, the director of "Jersey Boys," has taken Frank Loesser's timeless tale of New York in the '30s and turned it into a shrink-wrapped, over-designed piece of high-dollar plastic that belongs in a warm-weather theme park, not on Broadway.
What we have here, I suspect, is yet another case of a revival whose makers didn't trust their material. Viewed in a dim light, after all, "Guys and Dolls" can look like a faded period piece, a backward glance at a long-lost Broadway that was already more than half gone when the show opened six decades ago, a land of crapshooting sharpies in snap-brimmed hats who prowled the streets in search of action. Hence Mr. McAnuff's cluttered, noisy staging, in which the actors cavort before a giant screen on which an ever-changing stream of glossy images of New York is digitally projected. You can barely see the cast for the scenery, or hear the score through Bruce Coughlin's buffed-up, smoothed-out orchestrations.
-
My work's gotten kicked around in its day, but i've never been accused of "buffed up" orchestration!
-
Now I remember what I wanted to tell you all this morning.
I went to the theatre last night and as I usually do, I stopped by the TKTS booth to see what was up. As I was reading the board an out of town person asked one of the paid hawkers about Guys and Dolls.
"Well", she said in a bright and friendly voice, "it's a great show based on a wonderful movie from the 50s. Marlon Brando played the lead and he couldn't sing but he sure was a good actor."
I
SCREAMED
to myself and walked away quickly before I could look at the idiot woman who is hawking shows she doesn't even f*****g know!!! Or, if she does know G&D and did that on purpose, shame on her for helping to continue the dumbing down of the Broadway audience.
By the way, I was not impressed by
Impressionism (http://www.impressionismtheplay.com/)
While there are some good people in the show, the play is weak, pretenious and boring. There IS a great scene in Act Two with Andre de Shields but much of the play just sits there like so much fish.

I want a job as a swallow therapist.
I want to ignore my patients in lieu of going out to lunch, and then when I return get paid lots of money to tell my patients that they can eat - now go away! :)

Michael, your link is wonky. ;)
According to THIS (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/126989.html) article on Playbill.com...
Composer Bacharach added, "I saw this show in San Diego a couple of years ago and was quite impressed with the presentation and the musicality. I have always been very particular about how my music is presented on stage and have had some disappointments in the past. Steve Gunderson's musicality and Kathy Najimy's direction makes this a very exciting prospect for me."

Hi,
Back from a 5-day trip to Austin. The house is almost finished and looks great.
Assuming that escrow closes on our Los Angeles residence this week (fingers crossed), we'll be driving our animals back to TX starting next Sunday (15).
:)
-
I've been printing out orders all day, plus doing errands and whatnot and I just ate some food from Gelson's and have begun a motion picture on DVD.
-
Might I just say - page seven?
-
I believe I saw an incarnation of this Bacharach-Najimy show close to twelve years ago, in a club in NY. It was awful.

An orchestrator I know just asked me if "buffed up" orchestrations is a euphemism for dumbed down?
All brawn and no brain? :)
-
Good news, DR Druxy -
***VIBES*** that everything goes according to plan!
-
I've had a lovely dinner, got through another part of THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, found and drafted most of my libretto annotations and I'm tired! I'm thinking about watching every Dickens adaptation I have on DVD over the next couple of months. I loved the BBC version of THE PICKWICK PAPERS and I just got the 1952(?) film version on a Region-2 DVD. I could start with that, move on to all the versions of OLIVER TWIST, the DAVID COPPERFIELD and keep on going. Hmmmm. . .

An orchestrator I know just asked me if "buffed up" orchestrations is a euphemism for dumbed down?
All brawn and no brain? :)

A vendor on eBay just pissed me off: two vocal scores from 1900-1910, and since he's charging $5.00 to ship each item, he's charging me $10.00 for shipping via media mail , which has taken over 6 weeks to arrive a couple of times. When I told the vendor I thought he could have shipped them by priority mail or first class for that, he jumped all over me about his costs for tape, envelope, box, time, and I suggested the ass incorporate that into the cost of the item before he lists it on eBay.

DR Laura I'm very sorry you don't like oatmeal. I cook mine with loads of nonfat milk & dried cherries. Sometimes I add cinnamon.

Sequencing is everything on a CD, at least for me. I have spent weeks doing so for certain releases. And I pride myself that my sequencing makes people return to the CD over and over again. Some of it is pure instinct, and some of it is based on a theory I came up with on the very first two CDs, which I'll talk about in the notes. The songs you've chosen are not easy to sequence into a coherent whole, but right off the top of my head I would move If You Haven't Got An Ear to the final position. I would move You Can Fly much earlier in the program, perhaps track five. I would move Evening Star earlier.
-
Watching The Helen Morgan Story - I used to really like this film when I was in my 20s, but I'm finding it slow going now.
-
Good Evening!
Well... After playing "Sail Me Away" this morning, I was again surprised when a young woman brought in "I Want More" during the afternoon session.
*I believe that's the first time I've played both of those songs since Lestat closed almost three(!?!?!) years ago!
-
Otherwise, it was another good day. Everyone seemed quite upbeat and not too stressed out. Of course, traditionally, the third and final day of auditions has been the "crazy" one. So, we'll see what tomorrow brings.
*And I can definitely tell that I've played two audition-filled days already. I was going to head into the Five Points area of downtown Alabama tonight for a "real" dinner, but decided to stay put at the hotel in order to conserve my energy for tomorrow. Thankfully, there was another reception tonight, so I was able to scrounge up a dinner of antipasti and chicken skewers. Oh, and a beer too. :)
-
Why go out to eat where are are free receptions for you to enjoy ;)
-
Some deluded CASTRECL person is emailing me insisting that ANYA and RIO aren't up on Kritzerland, which of course they are. He needs to clear more than his cache. ;)
-
Clearing The Cache - that's the title of my next novel.
-
And he'd better clear it fast if he wants Rio.
-
Why go out to eat where are are free receptions for you to enjoy ;)
EXACTLY!
*Of course, a friend of mine who happens to be from Birmingham, sent me a list of restaurant recommendations. As well as a list of his favorite coffee houses and bakeries. ;)
-
I told him the very same.
-
And why pray tell is he emailing me, for crying out loud?
-
I am going to watch Ghost Whisperer now!
-
It's not that I don't like oatmeal. It's just that it's, well, oatmeal.
-
Audition playing vibes for DR JOSE.....maybe you will hear "Ciribiribin" today.
Nope. However, there were a few people who could have very well been singing "Ciribiribin" and didn't know it... Since they didn't really know the real notes for the song they were singing in the first place.
-
DR JOSE - the technicians can't get anywhere near the hard drive to format it because we don't have the password to get onto the system, so it is a nice piece of useless hardware now.
-Not even if they boot the system from a boot/system disk?
-
Actually, I don't tweet only because most people do it on their phones and I have a pay as you go cell phone and the text feature is clunky and expensive so I don't use it. I know I could tweet from a computer but that makes it hard to tweet if you're out and about.
DR Ben - ...But by only tweeting from your computer, you could "control" your "addiction". ;) -And not everything on Twitter happens in real time.
-
So...
An actor sat down at the piano. He placed his music on the piano in front of me. I glanced at his music... And I started to smile and giggle...
The song: "Sail Away" from Lestat.
:) :D :)
*And he sang it well too!
The music has been published? I wish the OCR would be released.
DR vixmom - The music has not been published - and probably will never be. However, there are "sources" for the sheet music should someone want to a procure a copy.
*I did catch up with the actor who sang "Sail Me Away" - not "Sail Away" as I posted earlier. He's currently based out of Raleigh, NC, but he has lived in New York City. And he happened to attend the first preview of Lestat. :)
-
I started to smile and giggle...
Did you giggle like a schoolgirl?
I hope you giggled like a schoolgirl. :)
That's the only way to giggle!
-
DR vixmom - Congrats on passing your test! And an every bigger Congrats on being able to eat "normal" food again!
-Have you already down the "dream" gallon of orange juice yet?
-As for what to eat: you could always start off making your own fruit and yogurt smoothies. Or fruit and ice cream smoothies. Of just milk shakes. ;)
-
It's not that I don't like oatmeal. It's just that it's, well, oatmeal.
;D
-
Milk shakes, great idea. Add some malt for a little nutrition ;)

I wonder where they got the idea to do this show??? And the name is so close you can say copywright infringement
DR Michael S - "Back To Bacharach and David" originated years(!) ago - 1992 to be exact. It ran at Steve McGraw's in NYC. It's licensed by Samuel French. In fact, I MD'd the Richmond premiere of it back in 2000. -And there really are some cool arrangements in that show - as well as one or two truly obscure Bacharach tunes.
-
I guess I'll try to finish Helen Morgan Story - another fifty minutes to go and then I probably won't have enough time for another motion picture.
-
I believe I saw an incarnation of this Bacharach-Najimy show close to twelve years ago, in a club in NY. It was awful.
Well... I liked the version I worked on. ;)

Tomorrow, I shall be listening to and viewing the MET's [relatively] new production of Madame Butterfly from my local movie theatre.
Is it a rebroadcast of the Opening Night presentation from last season? Or it is of this season's presentation? -I also wonder if Cristina Gallardo-Domas (I think that's her name) is out from under the weather. I know that Patricia Racette had to fill in last week.
-
I would like ice cream right about now, but all we have is apple sauce. :(
I would like ice cream right now, but...
A two-scoop sundae in the hotel's restaurant costs $8.50!
And a Good Humor Ice Cream Bar - a Strawberry Shortcake - which only costs me $0.75 at my corner bodega in NYC, is priced at $3.49(!?!?!?!?) here in the hotel gift shop.
*The food prices in this hotel seem a lot higher than usual. I was going to order oatmeal this morning (speaking of oatmeal), but a bowl in the restaurant costs $8.50. And if I had ordered it from room service: $14.50!?!?!?!? -Yes, it does come with brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon, if you desire, but, still, all that ain't worth $14.50.

It's not that I don't like oatmeal. It's just that it's, well, oatmeal.
But it's good for you. And good for your cholesterol too.
*Although, when I feel like "indulging", I like to put a pat of butter on my oatmeal... along with a generous dash of cinnamon... a sprinkling of brown sugar... some toasted almonds... dried cranberries and/or cherries... -Oh, and I make it with whole milk instead of water.
**I've also grown fond of stirring in a spoonful of fruit preserves too.
-
Milk shakes, great idea. Add some malt for a little nutrition ;)
DR vixmom - Are you supposed to follow any particular dietary guidelines and/or restrictions right now? Have they advised taking any sort of supplements? If you did go the smoothie and milkshake route, you could always add a scoop or two of protein powder (soy or whey or egg white) to them in order to give them a "boost".

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
-
It's still oatmeal. Not ice cream.
-
DR Laura - The hotel and the convention center here has some nice looking carpets. ;)

For any DRs who might be interested in checking out a fun, funny and informative food blog, I highly recommend Adam Roberts'
The Amateur Gourmet (http://www.amateurgourmet.com/)
He's a food writer based out NYC - .He reviews books, favorite recipes and restaurants on his website. His comic book style restaurant reviews are very creative. His most recent post chronicles a recent Thai food experience he had - the Thai food (http://www.amateurgourmet.com/2009/03/me_vs_larb_gai.html) won. He also recently reviewed the new restaurant, "The John Dory" (http://www.amateurgourmet.com/2009/02/the_john_dor1.html) - and managed to incorporate one of the Disney princesses into the review. ;)
*I also like his new website banner for this month which pays tribute to the Girl Scouts. ;)

Watching The Helen Morgan Story - I used to really like this film when I was in my 20s, but I'm finding it slow going now.
I have the soundtrack on CD, and I've always enjoyed listening to it even though Gogi Grant doesn't sound A THING like Helen Morgan.
-
I had a lovely dinner and visit with my friend Gregg. He stayed until around 8:30.
-
I then watched three more epiosodes of JAG making a total of 8 episodes for the day. That's OK, but I hope to get a few more than that watched tomorrow.
William Windom was on a couple of episodes and so was Steven Culp.
-
It's still oatmeal. Not ice cream.
Well.... Ben & Jerry's does make an Oatmeal Cookie Chunk flavor.
;D
-
Next I watched GHOST WHISPERER.
I can't believe Melinda didn't remember the doctor's threat and realize why Jim/Sam was acting the way he was.
-
OK - My laptop battery is about to die... And I believe I'm going to start shutting down myself for the evening...
Goodnight.
-
I finished up my evening by watching last night's 30 ROCK. Not a particularly funny episode, but Patti Lupone had a funny scene as an Italian mamma mia, and John Lithgow popped in for a visit, too.
BTW, I've never seen HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS (which was part of the plot of 30 ROCK tonight.)
-
Good evening one and all!!
-
The nice temps we had the last couple of days has no faded to COLD!!!
-
TOD:
VCR: Gangs of New York
DVD: Deceit
CD: sound track from Tristan and Isolde, Liz Calloway, Michael Buble
-
Strange week at work, I was helping the kids shift books on the bookshelves and we found a lovely stash of unused condoms.
-
I've been watching The Silver Chalice - truly as bad as its reputation. We'll see how far I can slog it out.
-
I guess I'll take care of a little bit of writing and then head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
I am looking forward to taking a week off and two weeks. Yes, I will be busy that week but I will be able to relax and have "ME" time.
-
I should be doing my homework... I have to read a book called HeatWave
-
It is about the Chicago Heat wave some years ago... A sociological autopsy...
-
DR Laura I'm very sorry you don't like oatmeal. I cook mine with loads of nonfat milk & dried cherries. Sometimes I add cinnamon.
I like instant oatmeal with hot water poured into it so it's not mushy like cooked oatmeal. My mother thinks I'm crazy, but that's ok
-
bk's book is infinitely more interesting.
-
I like the instant oatmeal also...
I also liked Malt O Meal at one time

Kathy Najimy to Direct L.A. Run of Back to Bachrach and David
http://www.theatermania.com/los-angeles/news/03-2009/kathy-najimy-to-direct-la-run-of-back-to-bachrach_17929.html (http://www.theatermania.com/los-angeles/news/03-2009/kathy-najimy-to-direct-la-run-of-back-to-bachrach_17929.html)
I wonder where they got the idea to do this show??? And the name is so close you can say copywright infringement
I basically read the title and jumped to conclusions, I didn't read that on theatermania

It's been a very very long day for me. I've been going to and fro and hither and yon and back again. It was productive and some of the gov't checks I was waiting for came in, so that was good. But I'm very tired
Tonight I went to the semi-finals of the Iowa Piano Competition. The audience was tiny. I don't know why people don't go to the semi-finals, it's piano quintets and really more enjoyable than the finals with the orchestra.
-
Every one I talked to picked the same person to win it all....well, the judges didn't, they placed her 4th so she's not even in the finals. There was much talk about that decision.
The finals are tomorrow night. I will go if we don't get the inch of ice followed by 2-4 inches of snow that is predicted. It's not supposed to start until tomorrow night so I should have time to go to the store, but I brought home all my trial stuff and some other work just in case I can't get to the office.
-
And now, for the first time since Feb 22, I do not have to get up when an alarm goes off. I plan to sleep until I wake up. Then I'll deal with the day. I just hope the weather holds off until I get to the store for milk and cat food.

Tonight I watch Casino Royale (TV 1954) & Casino Royale (1967)
-
I gotta say watching HERCULES AND THE CAPTIVE WOMEN is not a bad way to spend a Friday evening.
-
THE GHOST WHISPERER did suffer IMHO from a little touch of idiot-plot syndrome, but I was in tears by the end of that scene anyway.
-
My favorite is maple brown sugar...
-
I'm just sitting here like so much fish.
-
I am working on stuff for a website. I am a task force at work exploring sustainability.
-
I am versed in HTML but CMS is a completely different dog. I am getting frustrated. If we were allowed to use Dreamweaver, I would be much more capable.
-
It's not that I don't like oatmeal. It's just that it's, well, oatmeal.
Oatmeal definitely works best on chilly mornings.

Note: "chilly" means ice or snow!

I'm still working on a really involved tax return.

I am thankful my taxes are done.

I am thinking about a Polish Sausage. I know not why - I'm not even sure what a Polish Sausage is, and yet here I sit, thinking of a Polish Sausage and also an Armenian Meat Ball. Go know.

Did you know that know is wonk spelled backwards?
