I went through and took probably three dozen DVDs!

I did forget to gets some CDs from their extra bedroom, so I'll get those when I go back to put up a new curtain rod in my mom's extra bedroom.

My dad's library, which used to be MY bedroom, is now my mom's study.

[George]

She really likes the recliner that she got for my dad, so she'll keep that. 

[George]

Also, my dad pretty much only used his computer to play Bookworm and other games (he never went online), so she'll keep and use that when she needs a desktop computer instead of her laptop.

After EVERYONE has taken any DVDs or books or CDs, I'll take some things and see what the library has and donate those.

[George]

For the most part, the library really only takes things that they already own and are in good condition...nothing smelly or wet or damaged, of course. 

[George]

But if they don't own it, unless it's really important or of local history, they usually don't want to add just one copy of something. 

[George]

It'll be a process, but it won't be difficult.

The New York Animal Concentration Camp Care Center is now photographing new arrivals in an autumnal setting.  If I could, I would adopt little 33-lb Greenie in a heartbeat.

The flag resting on your father's urn is very moving.  We have one from Keith's father's service.

We just watched the 2015 film version of Ahrens and Flaherty's Lucky Stiff.  Fun!

I really enjoyed it...not everyone here did, though (but that's okay, too).

I also really liked the idea that someone even wanted to do it, at all!  The performers were pretty good, and they got Broadway talent to do it.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Yesterday afternoon we had a video chat with Charlotte and her parents and in the evening we had a socially distant patio dinner with friends.  I made lasagna, Sharon made a salad, and our hostess Marianne made garlic bread and chocolate mousse.  Richard, Tom, and Steve (and their wives) ate and drank heartily and enjoyed the in-person conversation.

My wife was there, too?

I remembered that someone had asked this, so I went back and found it:

I have never seen ASSASSINS, is Santa Claus a character in the show?

That character is Sam Byck whose plan it was to assassinate Richard Nixon. He wears the Santa suit throughout the show, which is unexplained, but it fits in beautifully with his persona and his two over-the-top monologues. It's based on his having been arrested at a protest in which he was indeed in such a suit.

According to Wikipedia:

Byck is one of the (failed) assassins portrayed in Stephen Sondheim's and John Weidman's 1991 musical Assassins. His role in the musical is built largely around his tapes sent to Leonard Bernstein and other famous public figures, which he is depicted recording during two scene-length monologues, the first addressed to Bernstein and the second to Nixon himself. Byck also wears a Santa suit throughout the play in reference to a photograph of him protesting Nixon.

Interesting...Byck was born almost exactly two months before Stephen Sondheim...January 30, 1930 and Sondheim was born March 22, 1930.
