I say this with no bragging - this place is something else again.
... Taut, Tense, and Terrific...
Just thought I would defend the poor spiders and post a christmas legend about them -
From the Czech Republic....the legend of the spider.
Legend says that once a poor woman was unable to provide the traditional decorations for the Christmas holiday. A spider, who had narrowly excaped the dust mop, made its home in her tree and began to spin beautiful webs. On Christmas morning, the first light of sun struck the cobwebs, turning them to silver. When the woman awoke, she found the tree covered with the silver treasure- the spider had brought her good fortune. :)
Good morning TCB. I hope this is a good day.
Time to dip the challah in the honey for a sweet new year
I guess my post wasn't clear enough. I was talking about the television program BONES on DVD.
And the word of the day is: ZOOPHYTE!
Aww.... I just finished watching tonight's episode of "Top Chef" courtesy of the DVR...
A friend of mine told me he was going to be on tonight's episode, but due to the secrecy clause he had to sign, he wasn't able to tell him why he was on show.
He'd have gotten more screen time, probably, if he had signed the Sanity Clause!
Good Morning All
And The Song of the Day: UNDER THE SEAI love that song!
TV notes to note:
Director Norman Jewison does a Private Screenings interview with Robert Osborne tonight on TCM at 8 (repeated at 11). I'll be watching.
Hard to believe with all of his successful films that he's never won an Oscar. I think the Academy should think about honoring him with a special award. They haven't done this already have they?
He received the Irving Thalberg award in 1998. That's the only one.
I'm gonna be out most of the morning...attending my agency's annual "Town Hall Meeting" (an opportunity for all the folks in my agency to gather in one location off-site and be treated to four hours of "what we do", "how we're doing it" and "what we need to do to make it better."
Light refreshments will be served.
September 13: Mercury sextile Jupiter
Mercury loves facts and information. Jupiter wants to understand that data within a broader framework. Jupiter synthesizes various pieces of information that Mercury provides and makes them mean something. With Mercury's placement in Libra, and Jupiter's in Sagittarius, expect conversations about how to enhance relationships and the way people get along by grounding them within a moral or ethical context. The sextile opportunity aspect gives everybody a chance to deepen their understanding.
Archie Bunker: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Something like this only happens two or three times in a person's lifetime."
(or something like that)
Did you hear that, guys! There's an opportunity for sex in every conversation you have today! Wah-Hoo!!!
...Very odd dreams, some of which had to do with a silly TV show on channel two about some wacko serial killer. This would be even stranger here in Rehoboth, where our channel two is the Weather Channel.

She's still around....it was starting to sound like a eulogy.Yes, she is stil around, and she also did an entertaining commentary on the BURNT OFFERINGS DVD. She and Bette did not get along. Of course, I don't think Bette got along with many younger actresses in any of her later films.
The Gays of our Lives.

My goodness, that was a long post, wasn't it!
I get that way when I'm in storytelling mode. ::)

Will somebody please explain-maybe BK can-that we show all these new members signing up but they never post. Strange! It has something to do with a linkage engine, or something. These people sign up for a different group, and end up being included on our membership list.
Mercury did what to Jupiter today? :o
(JRand, you and your planetary euphemisms! ;) )
But can you say it backwards? Or is that just showing off?
Will somebody please explain-maybe BK can-that we show all these new members signing up but they never post. Strange!
I noticed that the film CRUISING is being released next week in a new special edition that adds a bunch of deleted scenes back into the movie. I wonder if that will make it any more coherent?
In the theatrical version which I saw, the murder mystery element was a complete and total mess, and the real killer was never really found. Plus the intimation was that Al Pacino had turned into a psychotic killer himself. As I said, a total mess.
I'll be looking forward to reading reviews of this one.
Kind of like opportunity only knocks once twice. ;D
* * * * * VIBES THAT EVERYTHING COMES OUT ALRIGHT FOR CALLIE * * * * *;D
Arnold asked this question:And Woody responded:
It has something to do with a linkage engine, or something. These people sign up for a different group, and end up being included on our membership list.
Actually, that's not quite the explanation. It has to do with something called "pinging" which I won't try to define. When Bruce posts the daily notes, this Web site "pings" around the world and many different Web sites and mail services are notified that a new posting has occured. This causes "bots" to come to the sight. Bots are (obviously) not human posters. They are computer operated and they are able to "sign up" as a member of the site. They do this because the software is old (in technology terms) and the sight doesn't use any kind of verification to prevent random sign-ups. You (the royal you) may have been to other sights which require registration and you may have had to type in a random series of letters or numbers into a box as a way to prove you are human. The bots can't do that and so fail to register. We don't have that kind of verification here.
If you look at many of the "user names" and their e-mail addresses you will see that the majority of them come from .ru which is Russia or other Eastern European countries. You can also tell when a "member name" is something like greatsex dot com or something equally unbelievable.
Bruce has no real Web master for the site (Mark Bakalor who helped him get this version of the site up and running helps him out on occasion when the photo uploader needs to be emptied) so the new "members" register and stay in the list even though they are not real. There are ways to purge the membership list to get rid of these bots but that takes time and someone who knows the software.
BTW (by the way in Internet lingo) I'm not saying that all new members who register but don't post are "bot" registrations but a large majority of them are of that type. I think many people think you have to register to read the notes but you don't. You can lurk and read the posts, you just don't see the pictures of our loverly faces and you can't post.
Anyway, that's a LONG answer to your question Arnold. I hope it made sense.
And now back to Foundation Land (Larry goes to Toyland, I go to Foundation Land).
It has something to do with a linkage engine, or something. These people sign up for a different group, and end up being included on our membership list.
Either that, or we're being infiltrated by some terrorist group. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Well, it's back to Foundations (not garments, grants)
Well, it's only in the mid-60s right now here in NYC, and only supposed to reach the mid-70s later today. I may go ahead and wear a light sweater to rehearsal today. :)
Trilogy of Terror.....that Zuni Warrior sequence was one of the scariest things I have ever seen....the ending was shocking....
Karen Black.....always liked her....NASHVILLE, FIVE EASY PIECES....
I'm still sending you all goodvibes and wonderful thoughts--- whether you think you need them or not. We ALL need them!

LOL....DR JEANNE.
In other words, we are being encouraged to sit down and listen. The time to talk will come later.
...We'll have speakers and break-out sessions and food....Break-out sessions? For those allergic to the food? Sounds rash!
Me: She wants to talk to you.
L O N G P A U S E
Him: Who is it?
I am trying to get Willie to get rid of that pause that kills the laugh. But trying to convince him that the reaction to "Who is it?" is funnier than the wait for his line has become very difficult.
But I won't give up! Comedy is a science.
Like laps around the Reservoir, so are...
Does this mean you could catch up on some sleep?

Today's "topic" being TV quotes, I'm confused.
I'm having some rather bothersome sinus troubles today.
I just took it to mean bk's repeated references to "coherence" in today's notes. :-\
Quote yesterday from MattH:My apologies, Matt. It was just a very small attempt at humor.
Well... Time to wash my blender - another smoothie for breakfast - and then a bit more Mary Poppins study.
Laters...

our office manager, and he asked me if I was happy that we now had a refrigerator. I missed that, too! Oy.
That reminds me: Henry Willson's client was named Rush Hishonor, IIRC.

Thinking about today's topic reminded me of Horschack on WELCOME BACK, KOTTER saying, "Up your nose with a rubber hose" which made me think about John Travota who at one time was going out with Betty Buckley who appeared in DROOD as well as EIGHT IS ENOUGH which was a show I never really liked but I watched anyway because this girl I kind of liked watched it though it didn't really get me far with her because she had this huge crush on my second cousin who was the lead tenor in our high school concert choir and was a bit of a jerk and because the teacher liked his voice he got to pick some of the songs we had to perform and I remember when he found out that I really disliked "Beautiful City" from GODSPELL he damn well made sure that it became part of our set but then I fixed his wagon one time when I
What did you ask me again?
I found THE CAT BURGLAR neither taut nor tense....however, as DR MBARNUM writes, Ms June Kenney was terrific.
She has disappeared off the face of the earth - but those who worked with her said she was very serious about her work....she was a secretary who earned money for acting lessons and did parts on television and in a few B movies...and she was very pretty.
This would be even stranger here in Rehoboth, where our channel two is the Weather Channel.
And I didn't even mention Venus' quincunx to Uranus....but that was on September 10th anyway, and you probably didn't even notice. :D
The vet called this morning to tell me that Callie passed about 1/3 of what she needs to pass before she can come home. They have x-rayed and it's all in the lower colon which is where it needs to be right now. So, the poor girl got another enema. I'll go visit her later this afternoon, but I don't think she'll be home until tomorrow or Saturday at the earliest. The good news is if she can do this naturally, she won't need surgery. The other good news is that she was very healthy going into this, so far so good....

I do all these extras, but I’m not sure it’s a good thing.
For example, the murders in Cruising are not solved. There’s more than one killer. I say that right upfront now. I never said that when the film first came out, and so people were confused and angry because the murder that happened at 9 o’clock wasn’t solved at 12 o’clock.
Today, I just reveal the truth: there’s more than one killer. Most of the murders are unsolved, just as the murders that I based this film on were unsolved.

I don't even know when the fall shows will begin to begin.
There's an opportunity for sex in every conversation you have today!
LOL TCB.
Did your physical therapists suggest any names to your primary? Maybe you won't need to write that letter now your primary "gets it".
I hope your PT guys had nice things to say about your primary so you can go back to liking him.
The physical therapist then escorted me out of his office.
I am glad that Callie has been pooping.
DR ArnoldMBrockman, if I have not, yet, told you; I am delighted that you are posting with us on a regular basis. You are delightful.
You are very funny ;D. Is the therapy helping with your pain & shoulder movement?
Best of luck you get into see the new surgeon very quickly!
I'm watching some obnoxious woman called Nancy Grace.
I'm watching some obnoxious woman called Nancy Grace.
Good news! The first two season of "It's always Sunny In Philadelphia" was released this week on DVD. If you haven't seen this comedy series on FX, you should. It's so funny, and so politically incorrect and rude. I'm very fond of it.
I forgot to mention the obscenely good butterscotch/cashew nut bar that Jose bought me.
I laughed :D
I have a question for any DRs who are into the new Fall tv schedule.
What new shows have you heard good buzz about? What new shows do you plan on watching?
Any recommendations? I have the new Entertainment Weekly. But i really don't know which shows to choose.
Will we never get to page eleven?
Oh -- and I hope you feel better soon, too, Cillaliz.
LOL, JRand.
Thanks. I think it's just a cold. I'll go back to work tomorrow. Bob's funeral is in the morning. If I'm still coughing and hacking I may skip it. I didn't know his family, just him. So It would be nice for me to go, but it isn't like I need to go be supportive to anyone. It will be a HUGE funeral.
DR Cillaliz - I can't recall if you've actually said this or not, but... Does Callie's physical deformity directly contribute to her impacted colon? Or are they non-related conditions? In any case...
~~~~~GOOD POOP VIBES TO DC CALLIE~~~~~
Vibes for Callie to be Merry Poopins!;D ;D
I have seen endless promos of Journeyman, which looks like one of the most cliche-ridden seen it a million times ideas ever. I predict a swift demise.
