I'm up, I'm up - I was so tired when writing the notes that I plum AND apricot forgot to put Laura's birthday wish in - I'm doing so right now.

Good morning!

I was surprised how well I slept knowing that I had a new appliance in the house. When I got that last TV, I was up at 4 a.m. watching stuff, but this morning, I slept to 7:30 as usual.

Again, not as cool or brisk as earlier this week, and I'm just going to have to bear it (but not grin) until this "heat Wave" runs its course.

Baring it is also an option.   8)

I did finish the 3 PENNY OPERA documentary on the production of the stage and film versions, and the problems Brecht and Weill had with the finished product.

I began listening to the audio commentary by two scholars. Good communicators but not always interesting discussions on Brecht's aversion to method acting.

The oddest thing happened - 3DDiffusion went over to the FSM board, where, if I correctly read his response here, he posted in the thread that I'd begun about Robinson Crusoe On Mars.  I didn't know it was him (if it was him) and it did look to me like the guy who was muddying waters again had created yet another username to clap himself on the back (he has at least one besides his own).  He came back after my post and said he'd come from here, and then I asked who it was and he responded here.  But he somehow found my behavior in that thread somehow "off", which I'm here to tell you, wasn't, especially as there is some history with this guy Ron calls St. David, and he's done this sort of thing before (say other composers have ghostwritten parts of a score for someone else) - while the latter is, of course, true (it does happen), when the supposed ghostwriters are using nothing but the original composer's thematic material, then it's arranging and orchestrating, not composing original music.  When this is pointed out to this guy, he just ignores it.  Anyway, apparently things got nasty over there last night between Ron (who didn't know who it was) and "altamese" which, as I said, if I read what was posted here, is 3DDiffusion.

Weird, and especially weird as I still hold that I did nothing that was offensive other than tell the thread hijacker that everyone could see what was going on.  Never called him a name, never berated him, in fact went out of my way to say that I would not do so because of a previous thread where this guy went off his rocker.  This current thread was deleted from existence by the owner of the FSM board because HE could see what was at play and, frankly, has had it with this raging egomaniac.  He knew I was being good and not fanning flames, but merely responding with one-liners that merely said things like "I'm just sitting here, smiling and saying nothing," while the raging egomaniac made posts twelve paragraphs long, filled with paranoia and weirdness.

Dear Esteemed, rested, well-produced, creative, and flirtatious BK --

Congrats on what sounds like a damned good opening night.  I think you were right when you said that you may be too close to the production to really know how well it played last night.

Sure, now things can get fine tuned and tightened, and it will just be that much better.  I'm actually thinking of getting fine tuned and tightened myself.

Wonderful, powerful, and desert inspired VIBES for continued success with the lovely and charming "BRAIN."

I can sympathize with the actors going through a run through before giving an operning night performance for THE BRAIN.

When I did SHENANDOAH, we still had "It's a Boy" to be choreographed and learn on the day we opened. We came in at 6 p.m., were taught the dance, did it twice all the way through, and then performed it in the show as a whole that night. I felt like I was dancing on egg shells during that number hoping I'd remember everything. Thankfully, all of us playing brothers were trained dancers so we could pick up the steps quickly and retain it, but I never want to be put in that position ever again.

As for ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, the choreographer changed the "Spanish Panic" the night we were going to open, so again, we came in early, got the new section, and then did it that night before a paying audience. That was also the show that we never ran all the way through without stopping until we did it on opening night. A nightmare!

I had a message from the potential client today. They can't come up with the funds to hire me but were very appreciative of everything I explained during our meeting yesterday.   I'm really not surprised, although it would have been great to be involved in the case.

It was a marijuana growing operation, the government seized over 4100 plants in various locations, the government has also seized their assets including their home, business and I'm assuming their bank accounts.

In a way this is a relief.  I need today and the weekend to catch up at the office, unwind and get organized.
