Might take the folks to see Ben-Hur this weekend.

I think this is the BBC version cut from three hours to two.

I don't mean to dissuade you from going, but a co-worker of mine read a review that gave in one-half star.  That's it...just one half of a star.  Rotten Tomatoes gives it just 30%, but the audience give it 58%.  That's better, and what is more important. :)

Charlotte and I saw the previews at "Florence Foster Jenkins."  It looked as though the chariot race is using footage from the Charlton Heston version.  Watch the BBC version from 2010.

Thanks, John!  Hmm...I wonder where Goethe came from. :-\

Computer guy called and had a preliminary report.  He's not sure if it's the hard drive, that's thing one.  Apparently one of the fans was out causing the computer to really overheat, which I noticed on Wednesday - so hot you could barely touch it.  That apparently has caused the problems.  So, he feels it might be the video card - if it is that's a five hundred dollar fix and there's no guarantee that there might not be other issues once that's fixed and that will take a week to get from Apple since it's an older computer (2011).  He feels I might want to get a new computer - but that's not an option right now due to all the bank stuff I'm dealing with, unless some kind soul wants to but a couple of grand in my Paypal account.  I probably should get a new computer and normally that wouldn't be a problem, but until I get this bank stuff sorted out, which could also take a week, I can't do anything and the Paypal account is not that healthy right now - if I had a new release to announce on Monday it would probably be healthy by the end of that day, but alas we're a couple of weeks away from that.  Anyone want some art?  :)

No, this new film is not the BBC version of 2010.

Then I misread one of the reviews. Not the first time that's happened.

Well, it's time for me to leave work and first go to Costco for some water and some candy for concessions for tonight's performance of "Words, Words, Words: Contemporary Horror."  I'm running the sound and slides, so I don't have a difficult job to do.  Hopefully, we'll have an audience. :)

Had to make tough decisions about the computer.  The new video card would cost over 500 bucks, there would be no guarantee that there wouldn't other problems, plus labor costs and everything - again, his strong recommendation was that the computer was almost six year old and to get a new one - which is what I just did.  New 27 inch iMac supposedly a great computer, the middle of the three in terms of speed and memory but plenty for me and better than the slightly cheaper version.  So, got it home, plugged it in, got everything ready and despite them telling me how easy it would be I called Apple so we could do the initial steps together.  And glad I did - while the actual restoring from a backup is pretty easy, I would have been very frustrated with the wireless keyboard and trackpad because they wouldn't have paired until everything was up and running.  The easy solution that I would not have thought of was to plug them in to the back of the computer until they pair.  That solved that, but my former keyboard and trackpad didn't do that - the best thing about these two items?  No more batteries - they charge from the computer itself now.  I used so many batteries it was ridiculous.

So we chose the last back-up Time Machine did (the only one offered), and it "prepared" to transfer, and now it's looking for applications and documents to transfer - I suspect it takes a while - so far it's found over 33,000 of them.

Oh man, that sounds great.  Vibes for the rest of the transfer going well -- which I'm sure it will!

Now it's begun transferring - it currently says this will take 24 hours but I'm sure that cannot be right - it's supposed to take two to four hours.  Perhaps I'll call back Apple and see what they think.  As I typed that it went to 13 hours, now 12, so maybe that's what it does.  I should have pretty fast modem speed.  Eight hours.

Where is Vixmom?  Vixmkm has been busy making sure that all the rich people are abke to close on their new houses in time for their kiddies to be enrolled in for the new school year .  Of course they are all off on vacations in Europe or the Caribbean or the orient so vixmom must prepare powers of attorney for them and type POA language on hundreds of signature lines
