If you could get the rights, BK, there are two Sergio Mendes albums left that have never been released on CD, and I'm sure they would both sell very well:  his 1963 Philips release "Quiet Nights" (instrumentals, lovely, extremely rare album, released years after it was recorded) and Sergio's much sought after live album for A&M (released only in the UK and Japan), recorded in 1972 IIRC, "Live at the Greek Carnival," which has the added attraction of being one of only two albums Sergio featured Geri (AKA Dodie) Stevens on as co-lead singer with his wife Gracinha.

Just posted some rehearsal photos from MAN OF LA MANCHA...I am sure they will be immediately picked up by Playbill.com and broadwayworld, com for their UPCOMING PRODUCTIONS sections.

That one little toughie is really getting into attacking Sancho in that third pic!  Is she bringing something outside into the role?

Hi, all.  Well, hell week has begun in earnest.  Sitzprobe last night.  Dress tech tonight, then invited audience dress tomorrow and Thursday and our opening on Friday.  Pray for Rosemary's Baby--I'm dealing with a director who has never done a musical before and does not seem to get that in a musical you want to treat the band (not to mention the MD) with at least a little respect.

WOW, DR JMK! It's just like you're working on Broadway!

::)

*I'm still amazed that when the press releases for a Broadway show go out, the one crucial person of the production staff that is usually left out is the Musical Director/Conductor.  -However, Musical Supervisor's tend to get listed.  I wonder if some Union and/or contractual arrangement involved.

Meet Ramin Karimloo, the Canadian actor hand-picked by Sir Andrew to play the lead role in Phantom of the Opera II: Love Never Dies

Yep, I would have hand-picked him, too.  Several times.  Just to make sure...

Uh oh....they hired the Tony soundman for the MJ Service.  I am having very ambivalent feelings about this whole event, and don't think I will watch the rest of it.

Had to package up a couple of orders, send in the contract for the new Kritzerland release, pay Kritzerland bills (endless), and now I shall endeavor to do the long and/or two-mile jog.

Walked past the magazine rack at WalMart today - and you can almost watch Michael Jackson grow up on all the covers.

Well, you can learn something new every day...

For years I thought it was Sammy Davis, Jr. who sang the title song (as the Cheshire Cat) in WHAT'S A NICE KID LIKE YOU DOING IN A PLACE LIKE THIS, the Hanna-Barbera version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND.  Turns out it was Scatman Crothers.

As for the Topic of the Day...

It's not a show-related recording, but I would love to have Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau's recording of the Three Songs, Op. 45, that Samuel Barber wrote for him.  I remember listening to those in Song Literature class in college - on LP, of course.  And the title of the second song is still one of my favorites: "A Green Lowland of Pianos".

And fall apart on them as well.

DR JANE - the UFO HUNTERS came to Indiana to tape a segment in May - they included our friends Jason and Rachel who run MRIPA - http://www.mripa.net/ - who asked us to participate as well.  That is the episode that will air on July 22.

The production company - Lisa Pollack of Motion Picture Production Inc - http://www.motionpictureprod.com/ - VP of Non Scripted Development Programming signed Jason and Rachel up for a year, they are shooting their pilot on August 8th...and they want my sister and I as a family of Psychics as semi regulars on the program....including trips to various sites such as Stonehenge, the Mayan ruins, and other places of interest.

Hence -- my passport.  Of course this is all IN DEVELOPMENT and we have neither seen nor signed any contracts....I think it all depends on the pilot, which is ALL about Jason and Rachel and which right now does not include us.

And that's the long answer to your question, DR JANE.  News as it becomes available.
