Strange but true department:  Gabe had his Hebrew lesson today for the upcoming Bar Mitzvah.  Zach and I usually walk around the neighborhood where his lesson is.  Today we were walking and spotted a fenced yard with a bunch of chickens and Zach said, "Wow!  Look at those chickens!"  At that exact moment another chicken--outside the fence--popped up in the flowers right next to Zach and he said without missing a beat, "Wow, look at *that* chicken!"  So this chicken started following us.  And I was a little concerned it would get hit by a car.  So I went to the door, rang the doorbell--no one home.  At this point the chicken is out in the middle of the road.  I walk up to the fence (where the "inside" chickens are totally freaked out that Harold--what I named him, though I don't if he was a rooster--was "outside."  And I ask Zach, "What do you think will happen if I call him?"  And I say, "Here, chicken," at which point the damned thing runs right over to me and sits at my feet.  So I gingerly picked it up and placed it back inside the fence!  I have never picked up a live chicken before--who says you can't teach a curmudgeonly old musician new tricks?

Oh Hell, I picked up a lot of chicken when I lived in Portland.

Meet Ramin Karimloo, the Canadian actor hand-picked by Sir Andrew to play the lead role in Phantom of the Opera II: Love Never Dies

I still find it funny that we're getting a hunk to pay a role thast depends on a lot of falsetto, a ton of deformed makeup and a silly mask. Has Sir Andrew finally turned gay?

The new star is making appearances on a lot of sites today.

Please don't let Sir Andrew turn gay.   I would have to turn in my toaster oven.

Bruce, dying suddenly & at a young age increases the frenzy & emotion.  I can imagine what it would have been like when Elvis died had the internet been what it is today.  Elvis was the King of Rock & Roll ;)

When Michael Jackson named himself the King Of Pop, everyone was outraged everytime the title was used.  But the minute Mr. Jackson died, it has suddenly become gospel.

I have no problem with the outpouring of grief and mourning for Michael Jackson.  In a way it is kind of a relief to know that our society still cares about something or someone other than themselves.

T.O.D.

That's easy.

ON THE FLIP SIDE

That's out already, TCB, in a neat little LP jacket reproduction version.

But now discontinued and selling for $40.00 and up.

A couple of weeks ago, I ran into Ann and Jed and the WCB (World's Cutest Baby) at the grocery store.  I think it was the first time that Toby could actually focus on the fact that Jed and I look so much alike.  I think he was a bit confused.

I watched a lot of the tribute to Michael Jackson.  I am glad I saw it.  I grew up with Michael's music, he's only 2 years older than I am.  I think he was amazingly talented and I'm sorry to see him go.  I especially feel sorry for his kids.

You won't believe what I've been watching - Show Girl.  Apparently this was taped for Pay TV back when it was on B'way.  We had Pay TV then, so I'm surprised I didn't see it - I did see The Streets Of New York many times.  Anyway, a Kritzerland fan sent it to me - quality is not so great, but you can see everything okay and it's a very interesting revue - and lots more material than what's on the album.

Also, the new Kritzerland title is uploading so I hope to hear that later, and then tomorrow's work will be listening to it and watching the film, making sure what we've got is in film order.  This one has been completely confusing - the album master doesn't actually match the album, and all these score reels are of varying quality and oddly put together.

That's pretty cool about Show Girl, BK.

Well, I'm off to the R&J pick-up rehearsal.  It shouldn't take the regular three+ hours...we've been told that we can go through it more quickly.  We'll see how quickly we can go. ;)

Until later!

I haven't unsealed the book yet, because I want to be wearing gloves when I open it.  But I doubt it.  I believe it all photos from Robert Ballard's collection.

Yes, Indeed.   I haven't really looked at it yet, perhaps I should show Callie and Boo so they can get it for me for my birthday :)

DR Michael Shayne:

It was Tucker Smith who dubbed Russ Tamblyn, not Robert Tucker (whoever that is).

My Fair Lady (1964) (vocal arranger)
Billy Rose's Jumbo (1962) (music arranger: vocals) (as Bobby Tucker)
... aka Jumbo (International: English title: informal short title)
West Side Story (1961) (vocal coach) (as Bobby Tucker)
Can-Can (1960) (vocal supervisor) (as Bobby Tucker)
... aka Cole Porter's Can-Can (USA: complete title)
Gigi (1958) (vocal supervisor)
Merry Andrew (1958) (vocal supervisor)
Les Girls (1957) (vocal supervisor)
... aka Cole Porter's Les Girls (USA: complete title)
Silk Stockings (1957) (vocal supervisor)
This Could Be the Night (1957) (vocal supervisor)
Ten Thousand Bedrooms (1957) (vocal supervisor)
The Opposite Sex (1956) (vocal supervisor)
Meet Me in Las Vegas (1956) (vocal supervisor)
... aka Viva Las Vegas! (UK)
Kismet (1955) (vocal supervisor)
It's Always Fair Weather (1955) (vocal supervisor)
Deep in My Heart (1954) (choral arrangements)
Brigadoon (1954) (choral arrangements)
Rose Marie (1954) (vocal supervisor)
Kiss Me Kate (1953) (vocal supervisor)
Lovely to Look at (1952) (music arranger: vocal arrangements)
The Belle of New York (1952) (music arranger: vocal arrangements) (uncredited)
Show Boat (1951) (music arranger: vocal arrangements)
Annie Get Your Gun (1950) (vocal supervisor) (uncredited)

This was my other purchase last week.  Unfortunately, I should have spent the money on photography lessons because I had a terrible time trying to take a good shot of this watch.

Yes, there is that aspect in your last sentence to consider.  And feelings for the family, of course, are the important thing.

TOD:  One of my guiltiest pleasures is Riz Ortolani's "The Yellow Rolls-Royce".  I'd love for that to be on CD one day.

Listening to the new Kritzerland release - sounds good to my ears - another masterful job with material that ranged from excellent to problematic.  You'd never know it.  And what a delightfully delightful score it is.  I've only got the first fourteen tracks, the rest are still uploading.  I think there are twenty-four tracks or more, all told.
