Here's info about the

2006 Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival

Our only involvement was what we saw on the way home from the grocery and the balloons Richard heard overhead yesterday - Whoosh!

Vibes to Anthony's friend.

I, too, am checking on someone who fell last week - my mother. Friday evening on the phone she finally got around to telling me that MONDAY she'd lost her balance and hit her head and shoulder on her bedroom window sill. Did she use the retirement community panic button and have someone come and check on her? No, she waited until her scheduled doctor's appointment on Thursday to mention it. He wasn't pleased with her, nor am I.

Yes, in 1993, we had my mom here from Phoenix for almost a month and guests from Michigan both weekends of the US Nationals. We spent a lot of time out at the venue, where there was a lovely juried craft show. That's where DH Richard bought me the ring I wear most frequently on my right hand - 2 blue topaz and an amethyst. I think in 1992, we'd been in Phoenix ourselves during the competition and in 1994 the weather was awful and they lost a lot of money on that event.

*I believe it the first time I've seen a musical guest - AND his back-up dancers - have a costume change mid-song. -They didn't strip on stage - they left the stage while the contestants paraded around in their swimsuits, and then came back on in different costumes.

Hmm...

The announcement of the new Miss Universe seemed sort of anti-climactic. Truly a lackluster affair. -Although with Nancy O'Dell from "Access Hollywood" as one of the hosts... $:-\$

-However, I'm sure one of my sister-in-laws is very happy with tonight's newly crowned-one.

However, I do have to say the Miss Universe Pageant was ideal "background" while I was taking care of some e-mails and phone calls. Not really much of a distraction of all.

No, you're remembering correctly. The girl falling over a cliff with the guy extending his hand is very similar to NORTH BY NORTHWEST, but in this Hitchcock milks the danger a lot more, and, you're right, the cliff chips off bit by bit as she's yanked up. Beautifully done.

I finally got ON BORROWED TIME watched. The print TCM showed was only in fair shape. There was a fair amount of specks and scratches, but the story is still gripping, and I liked it so much.

They had to do some camera tricks to get Lionel Barrymore out of that wheelchair and walking, of course, and it's an obvious double in long shots and he's merely standing on a stand while process scenes move behind him near the end. Still effective.

After I dubbed the film onto a DVD-R, I only had time for another TWILIGHT ZONE episode, another I don't ever remember seeing (amazing as I thought I had seen all the half hour ones) called "I Sing the Body Electric." Didn't quite get to the end of it, so I'll finish it tomorrow. This one came from Season 3.

COLD CASE was a new episode for me dealing with the death of a debutante in 1968. Nice to see Ben Murphy as a guest star. Hadn't seen him for a long time.

GREY'S ANATOMY continued the story of the mother and her underdeveloped quintuplets. Very engrossing series. So glad I have added it to my list of regular viewing.
