Larry, I'm glad you liked Drowsy. I may even see it a third time!
I guess I don't know from Slings and Arrows.
Hmmmm....I am thinking that last night's eliminated team from TAR would have had a 15 minutes penalty as well since they also did what a couple of other teams did.... Sorry to see them go, though.
RE: THE AMAZIN' RACE
SPOILERS O'PLENTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was not happy about last night's TAR in a number of ways. First of all, the cable signal for just that particualr channel was a'blinkin' and a'flickerin' with ghosts, so watching the show was not easy on my eyes. Secondly, the DaVinci thing, which sounded intriguing in the written promos, turned out to be a lame product placement for the coming movie. (This also resulted in what had to be the lamest race prize ever, but then, considering the ease with which the frat boys won this leg, it's perhaps entirely deserving.)
It was interesting to see the drastic change of energy in the hippies when they realized the huge mistake they had made.
I still have no idea what that "It's All Greek To Me" task was all about. I guess it was all Greek to me.
Not sorry to see the dentist go. Talk about a heart attack waiting to happen.
DR TCB - Max's songs are in, as are I Have Confidence and Something Good from the movie. My Favorite Things moves to the thunderstorm scene, and I am not sure what happens to the poor goatherd, but time will tell. The only song GONE, as far as I know is An Ordinary Couple.
My stove needs replacing.
There are blue sparks coming fromthe elemnets... not a good sign in Vixdad's opinion... so last night we went stove shopping. What an exciting life I do lead.
In other news, the Vixter's report card came and she is on the honor roll due to her getting her math grade up five points since last semester, and a total of 10 points since the first semester... thanks to DR WFO for being available for homework phone consultations!!!
I just read that Bollywood actor Raj Kumar, star of JRand's favorite film PAKEEZAH, passed away of cardiac arrest at age 77.
He made a TON of movies and was one of India's most popular yesteryear actors.

Vixmom, tell the Vixter that I am very proud of her ...don't tell her I flunked math, however.
Well the director has cast 50 people in THE SOUND OF MUSIC and created non-existent characters for some (son for the butler, daughter for the maid) and it will be chaos....but I am out of it!!

Congratulations to the Vixter on her great report card and honor roll designation!
DR Vixmom - something similar happened to our oven and we just had to have the element replaced. Or do you mean the stove top burners?
Everyone here seems to speak highly of the Drowsy Chaperone- would that be a good show to take my mother to see?
Without question Miss Punk! It's available on the TKTS booth and through TDF. I hope you enjoy it as much as Larry and I. It's charming, funny, intelligent and I hope it's a hit!
WELLINGTON, New Zealand - Message to the Easter Bunny: You're not welcome in New Zealand.
Hundreds of hunters will stalk and shoot thousands of rabbits over Easter as part of moves to cut numbers of the big eating, fast breeding pests, which are not native to New Zealand and are blamed for destroying plants and pastures.
"The Easter icon is in fact a villain," said Chris Macann, a spokesman for Environment Canterbury, a government-backed group on New Zealand's South Island.
"It is very hard to get the message across that although these look like cute cuddly creatures we want them dead," he said.
To help that aim more than 400 shooters will converge on the South Island town of Alexandra this Easter weekend — for the 15th Great Easter Bunny Hunt.
More than 500 hunters bagged 21,000 rabbits and hares during last year's hunt in the hilly grasslands of the Central Otago region, said organizer Dave Ramsay. Last year's winning team bagged 1,800 bunnies.
TOKYO - A theater audience in Japan will be sniffing their noses — literally — at a new Hollywood adventure film when it opens here later this month.
A new service from a major telecommunications company, NTT Communications Corp., will synchronize seven different smells to parts of "The New World," starring Colin Farrell.
A floral scent accompanies a love scene, while a mix of peppermint and rosemary is emitted during a tear-jerking scene. Joy is a citrus mix of orange and grapefruit, while anger is enhanced by a herb-like concoction with a hint of eucalyptus and tea tree.
The smells waft from special machines under the seats in the back rows of two movie theaters, which create different fragrances by controlling the mix of oils stored in the machines, company spokeswoman Akiko Suzaki said Wednesday.
In "The New World," which opened in the United States in December, Farrell plays American colonial leader John Smith, who is said to have been saved from execution by North American Indian princess Pocahontas.
Theaters will be able to download from the Internet different scent sequences for other films, Suzaki said.
The company began a similar service for homes in Japan last year. Owners of the $620 home version can download different programs to emit smells to accompany a horoscope reading or work as aromatherapy.
Owners must keep refilling the machine with fragrant liquids. NTT Communications would not disclose how many machines it has sold.
U.S. startups have developed similar technologies before, although at least one company had to shut down during the dot-com bust.
NEW YORK - Rescuers used drills, miniature cameras and a raw fish Wednesday to try to lure a kitten that has been trapped for 12 days behind a delicatessen’s basement wall.
The effort to free 11-month-old Molly, the deli’s resident mouser, was renewed early in the day, when workers heard her meowing after days of silence that had raised fears she had died.
An animal-rescue team tried using a tiny video camera attached to a plumber’s snake on Wednesday, but the sound of its drill may have spooked the peripatetic pussycat into retreating farther into the maze of walls in the 19th century brick structure in Greenwich Village.
“This is the most difficult case of this kind I’ve ever been on,” said Mike Pastore, field director of Animal Care & Control of New York City, which handles animal rescues for the city.
Normally Molly sleeps in a basket inside Myers of Keswick, a specialty deli offering clotted cream, Scotch eggs and other British foods.
Owner Peter Myers, 61, said he periodically pays a $300 fine for the health violation, “but if I didn’t have the cat I would be paying a $300 fine for having mice in the store. I saw a mouse running across the kitchen floor this morning.”
Molly, being a curious sort, apparently got trapped after slipping into a narrow space between two buildings, then falling or crawling through a hole to reach the deli cellar, Pastore said.
The police and fire departments have been on the scene but as of Wednesday were leaving the job to Pastore, whose agency receives about 120 stray or surrendered dogs and cats a day for temporary care and adoption.
Breaking into the walls is a delicate proposition because the building is a city landmark, Pastore said. Three observers from the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission showed up Wednesday to make sure no serious structural damage occurs.
Others were pitching in to help. Neighbors left cans of cat food on the steps, and nearby restaurateur Renato Migliorini delivered a fresh, whole branzino fish.
“I hope it will come out, because I love cats and dogs,” Migliorini said.
Pastore wasn’t sure Molly could reach the food, and it was unclear whether she has access to water dripping from a drain.
Please send vibes to Mrs Rose Martins Toyo of the Ivory Coast, who only needs my bank account number and SS number to transfer $5.5 million to my account.
Now here's a funny story HHWers may appreciate. Another thing that has kept me busy is I am directing a 10-minute play that a friend of mine wrote for a night of plays around the theme of Hamlet.
So I needed three women, and the writer had one girl in mind, then we cast a mutual friend, and we needed one more, so we went with a recommendation from another member of the theatre group. Well, I met the girl, and she seemed nice enough, and she spoke of having worked at MTI, so I say, "Hey, you might know my friend Jason." And she did know him.
Yesterday, I speak to Jason and ask him about her, and it turns out who is this girl, but the CARROT-EATING GIRL we used to read about right here at HHW!!!
I'm ready for one of those glass top ranges that makes cleaning up from boil overs so much easier!!
Our Passover Things.[/size]
(Sing to the tune of "OUR FAVORITE THINGS" FROM "THE SOUND OF MUSIC")
by The Bohnen, Levitt and Malina Families
Cleaning and cooking and so many dishes
Out with the hametz, no pasta, no knishes
Fish that's gefilted, horseradish that stings
These are a few of our Passover things
Matzah and karpas and chopped up haroset
Shankbones and kiddish and yiddish neuroses
Tante who kvetches and uncle who sings
These are a few of our Passover things.
Motzi and maror and trouble with Pharoahs
Famines and locusts and slaves with wheelbarrows
Matzoh balls floating and eggshell that clings
These are a few of our Passover things.
When the plagues strike
When the lice bite
when we're feeling sad
We simply remember our Passover things
And then we don't feel ... so bad ...
TPUnk, that lively "Good morning" post with your photo with your arms up in the air combined just brightens my morning! LOL!
Can you say TECHNOSTRESS?
Re: last night's IDOL, I was happy with the results. I don't think Elliot should have been in the bottom 3. But when there are only 8 left, and 3 have to be in the bottom, then there is not a lot of choice.
I just received in the mail a demo tape from an artist who would like to come and perform at my church. Said demo ranks right up there with Mrs. Miller and Wing, I think.

The two nicest hotels I stayed at were both in NY...The Rodzinski-Tpunk Arms was quite elegant and even allowed pets...actually the pets were included with the room...the staff was friendly and they had a chair (no doubt nailed down) in the living room that was to die for (couldn't figure out a way to get it stuffed into my suitcase). OH, and the place is right across the street from the subway!
Then there was The Elmore Plaza. Cozy and cute with tons of reading material available as well as music piped in upon request. The staff was somewhat grumpy but the coffee was free. Oh, and the sleeping quarters were on the fire escape which I thought was quite unique.
I never did make it over to Jose Piano's No Tell Motel But I understand it is quite booked up.

elmore how is your father today?
HaHa! Jane! You've given me a great idea. I'll make carrot-eating part of her stage business. Then I'll invite Jason out to the show. Then we're guaranteed at least one howl of laughter at one point during the run.

DR MattH, re: AMERICAN IDOL and the American songbook category next week. Rod Stewart is the singer this week. I've read that the choices are only HIS songs, but not all of them.
Thank you all! I credit your excellent vibes and xylophones on his coming through the surgery so well, and I believe your wishes will sustain him for a while. I just booked the flight to Ohio, DR Ginny, May 5-12!
OK - I'm out of town May 5 & 6, but will be back Saturday evening. I know your priority this trip is family, but we're available if you need to get away anytime.
I'm available for dinner any night right now!
Great customer feedback, MBarnum. We aims to please. As do the cats.
Had a lovelier than lovely jog and come back to find I'm the only one in the jernt? What is this, afternoon siesta all of a sudden?
Michael S - I'm just catching up, so I just saw your post from yesterday. Those songs were recorded on Alix Korey's CD "Songs You Might Have Missed" back in 1989 or 1990 or so. Not sure what to say about them, except that they're songs Skip wrote the music for, with lyrics by the respective people you mentioned. Skip still gets some small royalties from that CD, and "I Almost Cry" has been recorded a couple of times on other CD's apparently as a result of Alix having recorded it.
The thing about Carrot Girl is we sort of committed to her sight unseen. Well, I had seen images of her on the web; she looked the part and she came highly recommended. (I would never do that for anything but a 10-minute play that I didn't write).
So now I am directing this girl who I know eats carrots in a very loud way, but I can never let on that I know, never can I let on, no.
Let's look at Sunday the 7th or Thursday the 11th, OK?

Had some interesting TV to watch tonight. Started off watching a gay-themed movie on one of the HBO channels that I already have on DVD, but it was on so I watched an hour of it - ALL OVER THE GUY. It's a quirky comedy-drama. Some of the dialogue seems over-written and rather purple, too movie-ish for reality. That said, it's still an enjoyable film, and at some point this weekend, I'll probably pull out the DVD and watch the whole thing. It's only about 95 minutes.
DR DakotaCelt... I believe you mentioned that you were familar with the Brobdinagian Bards....I just cgot off the phone with Andrew.. they are coming to Long Island at the end of the month and we are going to put them up at our house for the weekend
Not quite in the same class as any of the hotels mentioned previously although I suspect our front room will rival elmore's fire escape for comfort!
GEORGE!! Yes, the reading is open to the public - the Monday night one is at Hugo House. Take a look at www.mirrorstage.org - it has all the details, well, most of the details!
