Favorite camping memory  -- went on a 2-week canoe trip down the Guadalupe River in the Hill Country of Texas (beautiful) when I was a sophomore in high school. 14 teens and a couple of chaperones -- met some of my favorite people in the world on that one.  I couldn't rough it that long now, but as a teen it was the greatest experience. ...now I'm gonna be thinking about Mark and Hank all day...and the rest of that crazy crew...good times...

How exciting DR Jose.

I once had some wolf cubs come up and eat pancakes with me, but my father chased them away before the mother (the cubs or mine) could find out.

Sure! You mean, pick you up at 6:45 instead of 7, or pick you up at 7:15? That's really a nice honor to be personally invited!

Let's say 6:45 if that works for you (and the traffic).  I just want to make sure we don't feel rushed during dinner. I want to have plenty of time to give you all the dirt on tell you about all the wonderful DRs here on HHW.

Today I am going to a Big Sit. Instead of a bird walk, is is a bird sit. You set up your chair, and you list everything you see from your spot.

No more 2-week canoe trips for me, but this -- a Big Sit -- I could handle.

My cousins called me this morning to sing my happy birthday, and then they began singing the rock-a-byes from the party animals...including the dialouge at the beginning! It was sooo cute!!!

Hmm... While I was at Grand Central the other day, I stopped in to the Grand Central Market - a really fun place to check out - and picked up some coffee from Oren's.  I just brewed a pot of their NYC Blend - that's some good cofffee!

Traffic should be fine at that time, so that works for me!

Hmm... And the crazy weather pattern continues...

Right now, it's bright and sunny outside, and it's supposed to get in the mid-50s this afternoon - if it hasn't already.  And then tonight there's a possibility of flurries.  Hmm...  And next week looks likes a combo of sun, flurries and rain too.  *Including some light flurries Wednesday morning - which I fly down to Atlanta.  -I hope the flurries stay light.

Good Morning, Miss Patti.  Is that the sequel to Good Morning, Miss Dove?

Whenever I had my mom as a substitute teacher, I would always walk into class and say "Good Morning, Miss Dove"!

Ooohhh... And I just checked the 10-day forecast for Atlanta.... :)  -Of course, I'll be spending 12-14 hours in the convention center... But at least I'll know the sun will be shining outside the audition room.

From DERBRUCER
Quote
The bill does not benefit illegal immigrants - it applies only to children born in the USA. (No one has yet made a successful effort to discriminate against native born Americans based on their parents' residency status.)

Right, that bill didn’t get passed.  Okay, so now that new bill proposed goes way beyond asinine.   ::)

No time to stay and play today (this site is addictive) so it's up to you troops to get bk to whichever page he asks about...Oh, DR Dingdaw I was just funnin' with ya yesterday -- post away, that's what makes this site so fun -- all the different meanings these clever, crazy folks can find within the most innocent of posts...well, maybe not always so innocent...

Sherlock & I are off to his training class, both of us limping.  We will have to take it easy.  I don’t know what he did, I have been limping since I got the worst blister, on my heel, I have ever had while hiking after the big snow storm.  My daily hikes with Sherlock have only made it worse.

I've never been to Grand Central Market...good to know! Do you buy whole beans or ground? (I figure someone who makes their own tobiko is a whole bean kind of guy!)

Normally, I buy whole beans and grind them here, but for some unknown reason, I asked for them to be ground there.  ??? I told the guy that I had a standard paper-filter drip coffee maker, but it looks like he gave me an espresso-grind - it looks a bit too fine to me.  But I only bought a 1/2 pound, so no biggie.

Grand Central Market is actually a bunch of little markets, food stands set up in one long "hallway".  Meat and fish vendors, bakeries, cheese (Murry's set up shop there), chocolates (Li-Lac), and Penzey's Spices(!!!!) even set up a retail stall there.  It's a great place just to go into and marvel at.  Yes, it's always quite busy, but I think that's part of it's charm.  *And the one "chandelier" composed of crystals hanging off an upside down tree-top is quite a sight to behold.
