Read about The Legion of Decency and the films they condemned!  It's quite a list, and quite surprising, too.

What's amazing to me is that "Midnight Cowboy" isn't on the list when it was the last (IIRC) film to ever receive an X rating from the MPAA.

Not true. MYRA BRECKINRIDGE, BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE all received X ratings in their initial releases, and all came after MIDNIGHT COWBOY.

It took me almost three hours to watch all of the bonus documentaries on THE GOLDEN COMPASS 2-disc package. Boy, they covered every single aspect of the making of that film. I couldn't think of a thing they left untended.

There weren't any bloopers or deleted scenes on the disc, but that's about all they've omitted.

I did watch tonight's CSI: NY. An OK episode but no chance really of guessing the murderer, and the show ended ambiguously. Was this a two parter or is this a killer who'll surface again near the end of the season?

IDOL results:

Kind of a surprise for me. I would have thought this person would have been in OK shape for another week or two.

I absolutely despised the way people were shuffled around during the results portions of the show tonight.

Interesting that the one most folks predicted wasn't even in the bottom three.

There is also the issue that "Midnight Cowboy" was the first (only?) X-rated movie to win the Academy Award for best movie.

From what was written above, my guess is that when FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL comes to DVD - it will be more impressive on DR GEORGE's new 50" Plasma than on my 37" LCD.

They guess there are two people in the US with my name. However, I know there are others than just me and my father.  In fact, at one point and time, there were four listed in the DC-area phonebook.

Etymology*:
* Not to be confused with entomology; the study of bugs.

Forename:
Origin: Greek
Meaning: A Tiller of the Soil

My binary name is:
01000111 01100101 01101111 01110010 01100111 01100101 00100000 01000100 01101111 01110101 01100111 01101000 01100101 01110010 01110100 01111001

3 Things You Didn't Know:

   1. George Dougherty, what is your power animal?
Your personal power animal is the Duck-billed Platypus

   2. Your 'Numerology' number is 9. If it wasn't bulls**t, it would mean that you are multi-talented, compassionate, and impartial. A humanitarian, you seek opportunities to help others.

   3. According to the US Census Bureau, 0.932% of US residents have the first name 'George' and 0.0157% have the surname 'Dougherty'. The US has around 300 million residents, so we guesstimate there are 439 'George Dougherty's.
