Was checking out the ingredients in allergy meds yesterday. It seems that Claritin and too many others are made with corn. No wonder they are said to contribute to blood sugar spikes.

Yes, DR John G, meds are tricky.  Take care!

I am feeling a bit better today - pretty well, in fact.  Had a morning meeting, and am now back home doing an iPhone update.  I may do a little writing, and I think I'll try to go to tonight's partay.

I've been out and about on a few errands and I'm ready to work on EILEEN. We had a situation yesterday give me the suspicion that the recording is being postponed. Oy!

Hello, everyone.

I've been busy with cleaning and laundry today and am now taking a break.

I chuckled at the title of today's Notes, but I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well, Bruce. This is what I went through most of last summer. I sure hope I don't have to do that again! Hope it's over for you--the nausea, that is.

That was the little town my parents moved to right after World War II ended.  It was of course 99.9% LDS in those days (it may be down to 99.899% nowadays), and one of the neighbor men came over and introduced himself to my Dad and told him all the men were meeting at the Stake House (the Mormon equivalent of a Parish) that night, and to come down and meet everyone.  My father spent hours driving up and down the Main Street of American Fork looking for the Steak House.  And thus my parents' 50 year adventure with Mormonism began.  :)

your poor father but it is funny in the telling.

I hope eliminating the drugs with corn helps with the blood sugar levels.

A wildfire in Arizona practically exploded overnight on (I believe) Wednesday. Overnight it went from a small fire to 100,000 acres. There is no stopping it. It is now at 140,000. The Monarch Scientist says there is a patch of milkweed where monarchs breed in the summer that she has been studying. It will probably go up in flames.

DR Laura - I read about the AZ wildfire in this morning's paper.  So sorry to hear about the butterfly habitat...

The area I went to this morning is Oak Flat. It is scheduled to be torn apart to be mined for copper. Lots of people love to go there, and many families camp there in the summertime.

We're having a lavender festival next weekend and I just typed up a recipe for Chocolate Lavender Brownies that looks really good. Not going there though.

And DR Laura, I tried a tiny taste of a zucchini cake with lemon crema on top last night. We'll be running that recipe soon.

Picked up a small package and an important envelope.  I noticed a few weeks ago that my iPhone's calendar has not been sycnhing with the computer, so I called about it and after about forty minutes all was well.  It seems that the calendar function of iCal and mobile me was changed and one had to upgrade to it to have them synch.  Nice.  So, the first guy I wasted twenty minutes with had me doing all sorts of irrelevant things - wouldn't you think the first question out of his mouth would have been "Did you do the upgrade?"  I was finally switched to someone who knew what he was doing and ten minutes later the synch issues were all fine.
