I'm up and it appears to be another sunless day here in the City of Studio.

As far as Mr. Scorsese, very hit and miss with me.  The hits would certainly be Taxi Driver and The King Of Comedy (even though that one is not perfect).  The misses would be New York, New York, Cape Fear, and many others.  As to Good Fellas, I've seen it once and would not know if it was good or bad as I thought the violence was so disgusting that it automatically put it in the loathsome category for me.

Of course, those with long memories for film history will remember that the same week that New York, New York opened in New York, New York, another film, very low-budget, opened, too, and in several of the reviews for that low-budget film New York, New York was invoked and not in a good way in comparison to the low-budget film.

I think I'll have to dig out "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"  and watch it again.

Photos on Richard Skipper's site from Tuesday night's event at the Actors Studio LAST OF THE BAD GIRLS, written by Diane Ladd and my friend Harriet Schock - also featuring Connie Stevens, who (like Diane Ladd) also has a solo in Act II that was to kvell about.

Speaking of ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, of course.   Diane Ladd was in both the film and later the TV series.

I don't think that's accurate, FJL.  Polly Holliday played Ladd's role on TV, at least I think it was Ladd's role.  Unless Ladd joined the show after Holliday left.

FROM JOSE
Quote
There was one "lady" who came up to the window of the truck. She was dressed in a very smart, black business suit, and she had a roller bag...

"Excuse me, I have to catch a train back to Philadelphia... Could I cut in line?"

The rest of the story goes downhill from there, however, at the first request i would have said fine or i'm sorry i don't have the time to spare.  I've done so many a time or offered if the person behind me seems rushed.  i have also made similar requests, though not with so many people in line.

Gardenia show is fully cast - Zachary Ford (he did our Sondheim show), Juliana Hansen, Damon Kirsche, Marsha Kramer (she played Wendy to Sandy Duncan's Peter Pan), and Lauren Rubin (the original Joyce in The Brain and also star of Bukowsical), along with Melody Hollis and a guest star TBA.

And our guest star for the Kander and Ebb show is - Gregory Harrison.  He'll be doing a Steel Pier song, but not one he sang in that show.

Yes, Diane Ladd joined the TV series ALICE after Polly Holliday left.

According to IMDb, Diane Ladd played Belle Dupree for 23 episodes, from 1980-1981.

Well, this weekend is Olympia's Capital City Pride weekend!  AND the special guest performer during today's festivities is Olympia's very own Broadway baby, Shoshana Bean!

BUT I have to usher for a local production of Honk! and the VERY MOMENT that Shoshana is performing. :P

I didn't specifically ask to usher at this performance.  They just assigned this time to me.  I didn't know.

Darn.

So, I have to try to find a good parking place but Honk! is playing in the theater right next to the park where Shoshana is performing, so I don't think that I'll be able to park too close.  So, I have to leave as soon as I can.

Have a good day, all!

I ordered HEARTS OF THE WEST with Jeff Bridges and Alan Arkin  from Warner Archive.

I think that's one of the funniest movies about Hollywood ever made.
