Some swimmers can't seem to swim in a straight line and completely cross over the the swimmer on the "right side" opposite them.  I can't tell you how many times I have hugged the rope to avoid getting hit.  Then there are the fast swimmers, or at least fast at turning around when they get to the wall.  They don't seem to look if someone else in front of them is making the turn to go back.  They cross in front of me even though I'm on the right side & they are still on on left.

That is crazy that people might hit you. I've never heard of anything like that before. I would politely ask them to look where they are going.

LOL I don't think they do it intentionally and saying something wouldn't make it any easier for them to swim in a straight line instead of drifting.

Very odd. When I got to haineshisway.com I get yesterday's notes again. So i had to click on the archived columns list to get today's notes!

Odd.

Speaking of bagels here there are two main kinds: poppy seeds and sesame seeds. When I was young I would only eat sesame seeded bagels. And now I totally prefer poppy seeds.

Now I'm in the mood for a toasted egg bagel.

DR Elmore:  Full score.  Nice!  An original, or one of his own creation?  Right now I'm blank on whether KATE was a McGlinn research/reconstruction project, like SHOW BOAT.

Just popped in "Follow Me, Boys" with Fred MacMurray and a very young Kurt Russell. Only problem is, the movie is 2:10. Why does a kids' movie have to be that long?

No. The KISS ME KATE was recorded from Tams-Witmark parts. I would guess that McGlinn took all of the existing full scores, assembled them to match the final routining of the numbers in the Tams-Witmark edition, and created new scores from parts for the missing numbers, since they're in his hand. He had Russell Warner orchestrate the numbers that were cut for an Appendix.  The full scores were created so that the EMI producer and engineer had full spcres to follow on all numbers in the Abbey Road sessions.

The TER recording uses the Tams-Witmark materials as well, and fills out the second disc with three Porter overtures, including the one I wrote for JUBILEE.

Good morning, all.

Sounds like a fun day, ChasSmith and BK. Enjoy.

Vibes for all.

Is that meeting this weekend?  I thought it was at the end of October.

DR ELMORE I think on some chat boards F/F stands for Flames and Freaks which is used for trouble making posters who have no real reason to be on a site except to cause trouble or be mean....i.e. - 3DDIFFUSION.

Thanks, DR JRand61. I don't think the abbrevation was meant negatively, but perhaps it was. Ifounda ton of meanings on Google, but I've never run across this before.

I've been up since ten-thirty, after getting nine hours of sleep.  Since dinner tonight is going to be late - eight-thirty - I'm thinking I'll have to eat something before then.  I'm also not sure I want to go see Argo at the DGA - I'm told that this year is the year the DGA is FINALLY sending screeners - they were the final hold-out.  I hope this news is true.  I should get the SAG screeners this year, too.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  We are back from Lima.  It was an uneventful trip, but the weather is very blustery - windy and oddly warm and kind of ominous.

Found the TER recording!  I'd bought it, immediately loaned it to someone, and you know how that goes.  But they have it and are returning it.

I just reviewed this page and saw where DR ELMORE wrote the JUBLIEE Overture on the CD.  Sorry to have missed that earlier.

Excellent!

I went to the local farmer's market, then to Du-Par's, where I got right in (more about that in the notes) and had a short stack and a side of bacon.  I ate about one and a half of the three pancakes.  Their magic is gone I'm afraid.

Then I walked up to the local art fair.  This used to be a huge deal, taking up all of the park at Moorpark and Laurel Canyon.  Well, not any more.  Hardly any real art dealers (a lot of giclees and copies, very little original) and hardly any dealers period.  And so few people attending that it really can't be worth anyone's time anymore.
