Happy I didn't go to the theater - not after this wacko day.  Instead, I finished the Vaughan Williams set, listened to some more Janacek, who I'm enjoying very much, but then I moved on the the Brahms symphonies - I'd just listened to the Ormandy recordings - and I deleted them.  They were good sounding and I'm sure excellent but the music just didn't "get" to me, which is why I assume I always end up deleting those symphonies.  Well, I got a two-CD set of the four symphonies - very early stereo on the Eloquence label from Australia (available very cheap on Amazon) - their remasterings are amazing - conducted by Rafael Kubelik.  Well, I love very early stereo and I'm listening to the first symphony, recorded in 1956, and it's fantastic.  It's like hearing music I haven't heard before and it's very appealing all of a sudden - I enjoy Ormandy, but I'm finding I enjoy hi less as I discover these other conductors.  Just beautiful - and it's like from note one - you can just tell.  Looking forward to the remaining three.

TOD - my listening is an audiobook:  Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok.  The narrator, whose name I don't know, does a great job with the Chinese accents.  The story is told by a young Chinese immigrant girl who imitates her Brooklyn neighbors very well.

This is the July selection for one of my book groups that meets next Wednesday noon.  Have to knit and color a lot in the next several days in order to finish it!

I added the book to my list of books to read.

Just home from a wacky day and was catching up when the electricity dehumanizes (I actually typed "shut") down. It just came back on.  How does "shut" become dehumanizes?  Someone explain.

It is unexplainable 😁

The very good news about the National Theatre production of Follies is that my adopted son and best friend Joshie will be assisting Jonathan Tunick on the orchestrations.  I am very proud of him.

Nice, very nice.

Good evening. I decided that I am not ready to commit to taming a feral kitten at this time. So the adorable little kitten is back with his mothers and the other kittens in the backyard. I'm just not ready.

I understand, it is a tremendous amount of work.

Bruce, Radio Shack has a nice little travel, battery run, travel clock.  I think you need a backup alarm clock.

A Happy Birthday to one Ringo Starr, who had the good sense to turn 77 on 7/7/17.

And of course, in honor of Ringo - my tribute to the Michelangelo exhibit downtown:

Tune of Ringo’s “You’re Sixteen, You’re Beautiful and You’re Mine”

With each stroke of your brush, I turn to mush
No one beats your design
Your Sistine is beautiful and so fine

Can’t afford to see Rome, but close to home
Folks are getting on line
Your Sistine is beautiful and so fine

To get in just costs fifteen
So let’s head down and make the scene
Since it’s nearby a transit hub
It may draw crowds, so hurry, bub

So I’m ready to go, to your big show
It says they’re open til nine
Your Sistine is beautiful and so fine

Nice. :)
