1. Sleeping through a fellow student's 1:00 pm recital for which I was the accompanist. Oops. I ran the three blocks to the school to find out if I was still alive. What's still amazing to me, to this day, is that it didn't matter. No one was in the least upset. Recital was rescheduled, and nobody gave a flying...well, anything. Some of those little recitals were really minor and informal affairs.
2. Years later, sleeping till 15 minutes before start time for Saturday morning auditions for a show. The theater was 30 minutes away. I threw on my clothes and didn't drive -- I flew low, arriving at least fifteen minutes late, only to find the others were just arriving, too, and no auditioners had shown up yet.
Well, at least I'm "lucky."
