A horrible night of sleep. My body, between my leg cramps and other ailing - not failing, I hope! - systems were in turmoil and then Stella was particularly frisky and pesky. I was up and down too many times, so I would not be surprised to be napping later today.

BK, do you have any ins at Kapp Records? In the 1950s, Kapp recorded the New York City Ballet orchestra in a complete recording of The Nutcracker and Western Symphony/Stars and Stripes, both conducted by the great ballet conductor Robert Irving. I've always wanted them on CD.

Kapp also released several other NYC Ballet orchestra recordings, such as The Firebird and Bizet;s Symphony in C.

This cute dog is Damu. He was in foster from the New York animal shelter. The day after the sonsabitches posted this video of him in foster on their YouTube channel, they killed him. This senseless killing of adoptable animals is horrifying.

The Nutcracker foldout was really nice because it was loaded with photos from the original 1954 production designed by Horace Armistead. When City Ballet moved to Lincoln Center, the old sets were too small for the stage, so it was redesigned by Reuben Ter-Arutinian. City Ballet rarely shows photos of that original production.
