Joan has left the premises. We didn't really do much because she didn't have everything she needed. I did have a long and serious talk with her about her "comfort zone" and her mantra "I know what I do best" - those are two sentences which put the kibosh on creativity and discovering new things, and she does it constantly. And most people bow to it and let her - not I. So, she's realizing that she's going to be doing some completely new types of things and that she's got to make them work and commit to them - it's scary for her, but she'll ultimately be a good egg about it. Doing her album was the same thing - I really had to be strong with her, and because of it, and because I knew what words to say to her to get those performances, we came out with something unusual for her - she didn't belt everything and didn't cry out loud on all the ballads.
