Today, my sister will be down at Olympia's Farmer's Market at a table for PFLAG. I'm going to go down there and sit with her from noon until about 3:00.
At the begining of this year I had a successful production of my play, Heroes: Fighting In the AIDS Trenches. A producer was interested in adapting one of the stories into a film and I started writing a screenplay adaptation. It turned out that subject of the story did not have the correct information about who had the film rights to her story and I had to drop it.But out of lemons came lemonade with two additional shows. One going into prodution and one in the pre-production stages.I can't reveal the title of the show or who is going to be in it until the contracts are signed, but the first show will tour the US in one-offs (usually 1-3 performances) at smaller performance venues starting in the 2019-2020 and if it's a success beyond that.I have an additional play that is also in the works and the producer is looking at getting a well-known actor who has received a Tony nomination and has been in a popular TV series and its film spinoffs to play the title role. Once he is confirmed, I will also reveal the title and star, but aiming for Spring of 2019 to start work on it.Which brings me back to the first play. I spoke with the subject of the play earlier in the week and she is not happy with the producer who has her film rights and is in the process of terminating her relationship with her and with her LA lawyer who set up deal; which she says will then bring me and the producer back into the running to get the film options. Of course nothing will happen until to we have an agreement signed in front of us.And has Stephen Sondheim said, "That is the state of the art, my dear, That is the state of the art."
Oh my was it a great audience for SiSTER ACT last night - they ate us up....laughter and applause all around....So happy for everyone that it is such a success....we are SOLD OUT tonight - and that rarely happens in that theatre.....so I am hoping we are up to the task. My guess is, that we ARE!

I finally had to dig out my laptop and boot it up.
I am home from a lovely brunch with Ella and her husband Tim. When I stopped at Broadway Farms, I ran into Mark and his father. I had not seen them in 13 years since I left Barnes & Noble. Mark, who's now 38, is severely mentally and physically challenged, and a photo of us from B&N hangs on my refrigerator. His father told me today that Mark stays during the week at a special home in northern Manhattan and comes home on weekends. That kind man, besides being a mensch and a loving father, has the patience of Job. It was really nice to see them.
