My doctor's office called the office and told them my blood work was fine and I should call to schedule my colonoscopy.   There are several problems with this.  One, I specifically told them not to leave messages at my office. Two, I didn't do any blood work when I went to the doctor, and three I was supposed to do a sonogram of my gallbladder not a colonoscopy.    I decided not to do either and will call if I have any more problems

Oy! is right. I've never had an MRI, and I've received no phone call, and since it's after 5, I guess they won't call until tomorrow at the earliest. Darn! I want to get this over with as soon as possible.

I love Bobby McFerrin!  I would love to see him conduct the St Paul Symphony (is he still there?) He does some really fun and creative things like having the musicians sing their parts to the William Tell Overture.

Woo Hoo, he's getting close.  When he's done I need to go to the office and crank out a quick sentencing memo.   Then stop at the grocery store and come home and cook!   I put away almost everything that I moved out of the kitchen earlier today so that's cool. 

I am SOOOO glad this went smoothly and is almost done.  I love my countertops and am considering skipping the backsplash.  It looks pretty good the way it is

So, I'm gathering that via HDMI any digital station automatically adjusts for the ratio that's correct.  And I gather that TCM isn't digital and therefore stretches the picture unless you specifically select pillarbox.  Does that sound right, oh experts?

It is a digital channel but is not high def so your general set-up for your regular channels will carry over for it, too, Yes, it should pillarbox most of the movies it shows and windowbox the widescreen ones.

But it doesn't do it right now - I have to select pillarbox.  Is there some way to have it "know"?  As I said, on my regular channels, the local ones, it does it automatically - full screen for HD and pillarboxed for non-HD, but when I then go to TCM it's stretched.

DR Matt H, when you get to the MRI, tell them you need earplugs and they should give you a pair. Trust me, you should use them!

Hopefully you guys will have better MRI machines than what i had.

I know there are the tunnel ones. And the ones with the sides open. The tunnel ones make you feel like you're in a coffin. And for someone who is claustrophobic it can be awful.

But to me the worst part (and the part i was not expecting) was the excrutiating noise. It was almost unbearable (especially considering that i was being treated for a migraine!). Hopefully these machines have gotten better.

Ha, i just read DR Elmore's earplug advice. IF you are able to do this do it. For some reason i think i had a headset on or something. But i certainly was not offered earplugs. And the sound was the loudest thing i've ever heard. And they blare it in your ears!

Sorry to add to the "litany of woe" a certain DR complained about, but I could use some major vibage--I have had a tender knee for months, which I just racked up to age and the fact that I walk so many miles for exercise each day.  Well, something major happened last night.  Suddenly I literally could not bend my right knee without an amazingly sharp and painful twinge shooting down the right side of my calf.  I got no sleep last night and am off to an emergency appointment with my clinic.  This could not have happened at a worse time.

Thanks for the good wishes, folks. I am slightly encouraged after seeing the doctor today. Oh, the diagnosis was upsetting, but if it means some relief, I don't care even if I end up being one of the 10% who need an operation to correct the problem.

I have (he thinks) a herniated disc in my neck. And MRI will reveal much, and I'm waiting for the call to schedule that to be done.

Meanwhile, I've started on steroids for the pain.

Steroids?  Great, now you can play for the New York Yankees.

I set my DVR on a high-definition channel and then select "Full" for the image (on my remote).  This gives me the proper anamorphic image.  After that, channels that are not high def revert to pillar (which is the correct ratio for older shows and movies) or letterboxed.  I often select "Zoom" to watch those and then change back after the movie ends.

I wish mine "knew" automatically what to do with each occurrence -- or could be programmed to know -- but I don't "know" of a way to make it "know" how.

When I would swallow food, the esophagus expanded, the disc pressed on my spinal cords and my leg twitched.

Cilla, glad your countertops went in so smoothly. FJL can correct me here, but since the plumber was called as part of a remodel, ie improvement, that charge is now an improvement for tax purposes, whereas it would have been considered a repair if it had been done separately. Yes, Fred?
