Every time I've posted today I get a stuttering effect as the new page loads.  Weird.

Dear Laura     I have 5 of those singing fish in the closet.  My husband loved them.  They all hung inside the front door and were really annoying.

DR Sam - Why are they still in the closet instead of the trash?

Dear Jose, one of the big mouth bass only insults, maybe 20 sayings, I could never part with it.   I did get rid of the lobster when I moved a few years ago.

DR Jennifer headsets likely worked as well as ear plugs.  Ouch, to do that with a migraine.

I have always been given, without asking, ear plugs.  Some were better than others.  I suggest testing them a bit first or asking for two sets of ear plugs or additional cotton or something.  I also take a very mild tranquilizer before doing an MRI.  Of course that requires someone drive you.

I think i said it wrong. There was nothing to block out the noise. I was thinking that the noise came from a headset. But maybe not. There was no offer of anything to block out the noise.

I had the coffin MRI with it closed on both sides. That in itself was really bad for me. I wasn't sure i could do it. But i kept my eyes closed and counted.

I find it hard to believe that there is no way they can do it without the noise. But i guess minus the migraine and with earplugs maybe it could be okay.

Why am I still holding on to fishing equipment, remote control 4 wheel drive jeeps,  hand held bowling  video games, pellet guns and indoor shooting traps, I don't know.

So, I'm gathering that via HDMI any digital station automatically adjusts for the ratio that's correct.  And I gather that TCM isn't digital and therefore stretches the picture unless you specifically select pillarbox.  Does that sound right, oh experts?

It is a digital channel but is not high def so your general set-up for your regular channels will carry over for it, too, Yes, it should pillarbox most of the movies it shows and windowbox the widescreen ones.

But it doesn't do it right now - I have to select pillarbox.  Is there some way to have it "know"?  As I said, on my regular channels, the local ones, it does it automatically - full screen for HD and pillarboxed for non-HD, but when I then go to TCM it's stretched.

My digital cable box has a "settings" section that is pretty foolproof. But all of these services are different from one another.

Oy! is right. I've never had an MRI, and I've received no phone call, and since it's after 5, I guess they won't call until tomorrow at the earliest. Darn! I want to get this over with as soon as possible.

DR Matt H, when you get to the MRI, tell them you need earplugs and they should give you a pair. Trust me, you should use them!

Thanks for the tip! I have seen them on medical shows, of course, but nothing is like being there yourself!

Need to have an MRI, but they're thinking torn ligament.  I am on Percoset.

DR JMK - Have you thought back to think how and when that might have happened?

Remember folks that BURN NOTICE has ended its summer run, but ROYAL PAINS is showing a few more new episodes.

I didn't know :(  Thanks for the mention.  What about THE CLOSER?

There are two more new episodes this summer.

I am really, really exhausted. I had hoped I could continue watching NCIS until 11, but after 10 episodes and 3 bonus features today, I just can't sit there any longer and concentrate. No chair feels comfortable and I get achy walking around during the show. So, I just shut everything down.

I remember it George.  That always bugged me too.  Some friends of my parents had the piano player roll of itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini, so we used to play and sing it when we went over there.

I loved our player piano and was kind of bummed when my mom sold it.  Has anyone else had one?

We have a modern version, it plays discs.

Cilla, you look absolutely fabulous!!!

Yes, I forgot to mention that, too.  You look great Cilla!

Of the two other bonus features I watched tonight, one was Pauley Perette recording a song ("Fear") for the soundtrack of an episode. Not very good.

The other had the producers and cast talking about the decision to split up the team at the start of the season and the on-going story arc about finding a mole within NCIS. All pretty basic stuff but I enjoyed hearing their motivations. And it did seem to bring back the audience. NCIS had its highest ratings ever this season, its sixth on the air. That's VERY rare in today's TV world to be able to build an audience after so many years on the air.

Thanks for the good wishes, folks. I am slightly encouraged after seeing the doctor today. Oh, the diagnosis was upsetting, but if it means some relief, I don't care even if I end up being one of the 10% who need an operation to correct the problem.

I have (he thinks) a herniated disc in my neck. And MRI will reveal much, and I'm waiting for the call to schedule that to be done.

Meanwhile, I've started on steroids for the pain.

Oy.  Maybe we should re-acronym this site MRI.

Miserable Readers Island
Miserable Readers Incorporated
Miserable Readers Incapacitated

???

::)

;D

I zipped through the soaps tonight, too before I got back to work. AS THE WORLD TURNS didn't have Luke (he's on tomorrow) but did have a plot sequence that will affect him greatly.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE did have Kyle and Fish, but it was basically still marking time: Fish putting off telling Layla the truth. Kyle pretending to be over Fish and not really convincing anyone that he is.

And Tuc Watkins was back on today being silly and charming as ever.

On the way to the hospital this afternoon I picked up a library copy of the OBC recording of Next to Normal.  Even though the catalog record says "Synopsis and Lyrics in Container," I find no booklet in the box.  Guess I'll have to call the library tomorrow and see if they can track it down.  At least, they need to flag my record so I don't get blamed for losing it.

We also stopped at a Laz-E-Boy furniture store and I've pretty much been talked out of a chair-and-a-half.  Doug, the salesman, said they're pretty useless and uncomfortable unless you have a small child or animal to share it with an adult.  Having neither, we're exploring other options.
