Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a particularly sweet smell, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - I wouldn't describe their smell as sweet, oh, no, I would not describe their smell as sweet.

And the word of the day is: EPEXEGESIS!
Whenever Walter gives some lame EPEXEGESIS on why he was unfaithful, his EXES SEE "PIG" written on his forhead. Clever of them, pooling their money to have that word tattooed on his brow, but that still doesn't explain why he hasn't noticed it himself, every time he looks in the mirror. (Or is he still trying to figure out what "GIP" means?)

Good morning, all! Yesterday, after a successful week, I forgot to take Clairitin-D for my allergies from the dogs, and at 2 AM I was wide awake with my allergies in full bloom. I'm about an hour behind this week's schedule, and I will be heading to the hospitakl in the next few minutes.
Dr George, thanks for the photos! Skip and Fred look happy and content.
Where, O Where is our birthday boy TD?
-
Happy Birthday DR TD!
-
Sunday morning greetings! In about 4 months, my mother-in-law will have her 90th birthday. Today is the first of 2 parties she requested, a punch & cookies open house for the people who live in her apartment building. Richard's older brother and one of his daughters have been in charge, so all we have to do is show up and help with the clean-up. The more elaborate celebration will be Sept. 30 - a family/friends dinner, for which I think I'm in charge of the table decorations.
-
Good morning! Boy am I getting tired! Had a great time with my nephew yesterday. He's definitely going to New York with me. We checked out prices at other hotels to try to find a room more comfortable for 2 people. All I can say is I'm glad I reserved the room at the CI when I did. It's amazing how much higher the rates are now, even at the CI. We're just going to figure it out there
-
I've had a great time at Steve's reunion. I've seen 3 of the first men I had HUGE crushes on back in high school. Not even a spark, lol. Actually I had a nice time talking to one of them. I am ready to go home and sleep, but alas, I have a baby shower to go to this afternoon. Steve leaves in the morning so I can head back to Sioux City then
-
DR Cillaliz - I know what you mean about the CI! I checked it for later in October for my boss and the rate was almost double the outrageous one I locked in last April.
Other friends who've stayed there have requested rooms with twin beds and said those rooms are a little bigger, as are the rooms on the front of the building (facing 46th St). One of the people who recommended it to me always requests a front room.
-
My mother had the best pie yesterday. It's a chocolate ice cream pie. The crust is chocolate cake mix with canned frosting mixed in...(Or something like that, I haven't seen recipe yet) then vanilla ice cream then it's topped with chocolate frosting. You eat it cold and boy is it tasty

Mmmm, that sounds good! May I have the recipe?

Thanks, I'm going to have to call tomorrow. I initally booked Tuesday to Sunday, but we're only going Wed to Sun, when I tried to change it online it was going to raise the rate A LOT for fewer nights. So I have to call directly. I'm going to ask about twin beds or a room in the front.
-
Gotta run. We're off to the lake
-
Good morning!
Felt very humid when I went out to get the newspaper today, so though the temperatures may be five to ten degrees cooler than last week, it's still going to be muggy and miserable outside today. Thankfully, I have laundry and other inside chores to keep me busy.
-
Happy Birthday, DR TD. Wish you'd drop by more regularly. Always a pleasure to read what you've got to say.
-
Looking forward to the GREY'S ANATOMY rerun tonight (which will be new to me) since it introduces Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character to the show.
I loved Mr. Morgan on SUPERNATURAL this season playing the father to the two leading characters, and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy him in this role just as much if not more (judging from what I read about the character during the initial run of his episodes).
-
New episodes of DEADWOOD, ENTOURAGE, and RENO 911! tonight as well, so lots of good entertainment coming up later tonight.

Elmore - more vibage, honeyboy.
Ginny and Cillaliz - first thing in the morning, we got PIE??? Is this FAIR??? Pie in the mawnin'... I'll be craving ice cream and sweet stuff all dang day! Mmmmm.....
And Happy Birthday, DR TD, wherever you are!
Is that everyone? NO! A huge Huzzah! to BK for the successful cabaret series. What an undertaking. It bodes well for other productions at LACC. The boy is Golden!
CURTAIN opens this week? Sheesh, where have I been? Oh, yeah -- San Antonio. Has anyone seen the weather? Right after I left El Paso, the rains came and they are flooded! I was born under lucky stars, that's for shore! The Lucky Penny.

Well, off to Birdland with my giant bag o' peanuts...

Um, ten o'clock and I'm the only one in the jernt? And there's twenty-four postings? I do believe there will be a rude awakening, o, hainsies/kimlets. The errant and truant behavior has reached epic proportions.
-
Huh?
-
so Bruce, I must have missed much discussion while I was on the road - is CURTAINS having performances this week???
-
Where? How long a run? I'd sure love to see it...
-
Curtains has been having performances for over a week, and opens on Wednesday. If you'd been reading the posts you would have seen photos and read Cillaliz's comments, o, errant and truant authoress.
-
Congrats, bucko, on your successful cabarets... and many more!
-
The Ahmanson, for a couple of months.
-
Wow - Page 2 Polka!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to used-to-be-here-a-lot-more dear reader TD.
-
The Ahmanson, as in DOWNTOWN? The Music Center?? Are we talking about the CURTAINS I think YOU wrote, that I read stage directions for in the first reading?? Are you in it??
-
Ah - i just read the Playbill article... the play sounds a lot like a novel a friend of mine wrote recently...
-
My short term memory is not what it once was...
-
And 8 more posts to a milestone!!!
Good morning, George!
-
Hi Penny!
-
Are you going to Issaquah today?
-
well, off I go to see if I can do something about my fog, with a little more caffeine... used to work...
-
I don't know that I'll go to Issaquah... I would like to see the Quartet thing tonight... You?
-
Lance Guest as Johnny Cash... lots of good songs...
-
My mother had the best pie yesterday. It's a chocolate ice cream pie. The crust is chocolate cake mix with canned frosting mixed in...(Or something like that, I haven't seen recipe yet) then vanilla ice cream then it's topped with chocolate frosting. You eat it cold and boy is it tasty
You WILL post the recipe!
Please? :D
-
And FREE is my favorite ticket price...
-
I'm going.
-
Yeah! How 'bout that PIE description!!! Yummmmm....
-
Okay - I'll go. Meet you out front at around 7:15...
-
Are you going for the afternoon thing??
-
The only issue is that the first show is at 2:00, then they have another Circle Members Only party at 5:00 (that I can't go to), then the second show doesn't start until 7:30. That's a lot of alone time in a town in the middle of no where. :-\
-
I just need to stay put today. Feed birds, do a little weeding, watering... hanging out. But I'll come to tonight's show. And this brings me past my new milestone of HHW posts!!!
-
Okay, boychik - see you around 7:15!
-
Are you going for the afternoon thing??
No...okay, see you at 7:15!!
And congratulations on the milestone! ;D
-
I'll bring a book to pass the time.
-
Maybe a book that has recently been autographed by the author!
-
In person! ;D

Yes, amusingly Curtains was resurrected after being dormant since 2000 two weeks after a little press release was issued about a certain book about a musical doing an out-of-town tryout. And, in an amusing bit of irony, the final press release in said book, the final page, infers that Rupert Holmes will be turning the book into a musical. And, of course, Rupert Holmes has written the new libretto for Curtains. That's comedy.
-
Pretty hot today, so did the slightly shorter jog.
-
What a fun week this has been, visiting LA! Seeing BK again after so many years was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! BK and I did a Kritzerland/real memory tour and did some catching up. Plus we took in three cabaret shows--wonderful!--and I met dear readers Kerry and Lyn, Laura and Sandra, and Adriana and her mum. What nice people you all are. I look forward to continuing our friendships. GREAT, GREAT FUN!
-
Well, I must be off. I have to take a shower and then travel the 80 miles or so to Issaquah to see the last two shows in the Village Theatre's Festival of New Musicals. Have a good day, everyone! ;D
-
Of course, I will get dressed after taking a shower and before I leave my house. ;)

Oh, okay, no posts in an hour. I'm on my way to lunch and then a little post-cabaret get-together. There will be hell toupee if this trend continues.
-
Davy Crockett hat, as well....AND a powder blue leisure suit with blue silk flowered nik nik shirt.
Oh that was YESTERDAY's topic.
You can imagine my embarrassment.
-
Great news about the CABARET SERIES.....
AND hurray! We will now have Bachelor Bills on CD!!!!
-
Very warm here.
I found some actual SEA SALT at the Dollar Tree, so we can use that at the World of Wisdom.....instead of paying over $3 a pound plus shipping for the STUFF!
-
Well...today is our monthly board meeting, and I really think we are going to have to face the fact that NO local black actors are going to audition for TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and that some of the community is hostile to its production. Astonishing!!
Which means we can bring some actors in and have to PAY them.....grrrrrr not a good thing.....or cancel and let the #*$&&* win! I am just not sure at this moment what will be done.
Depressing.
-
I'm back from my six hour stint at the hospital. When I got there, my dad was sitting up and I learned that he had decided to sit up most of the day. He is walking rather steadily now, and he came though his morning bit of physical therapy with flying colors. There's a rumor, to be confirmed in the morning, that he will be released tomorrow.
Now, if we can get Lady M in line! My dad was in a talkative mood today, and he and I had about 90 minutes of private time to talk about cabbages and kings, his plans, and his hopes. His humor is coming back, and they began a new round of Zoloft this afternoon to fight his depression. "I need that!" he said when the nurse told him what it was for.
I did ask him to tell me his account of events that involve Lady M's claims that she had to strap him into a a chair after he fell after throwing up on her. She conveniently had a set of bungee cords lying around the breakfast table. He concedes to the nausea but insists he neither fell nor was strapped into anything.
-
Greeting from Issaquah. Had a lovely time, and did my first two talkbacks ever, which I think went OK (or at least the director assured me that I didn't say anything TOO stupid).
Can't make headway on the trivia contest on the library computer, so I'll have something to do Monday when I'm back in NY. :)
Thanks again, Penny and George.

Had the same problem when THE WIZ was done here, so the director simply cast the best available talent regardless of the race.
Can't do that with MOCKINGBIRD, of course, but occasionally that's the alternative.
-
Had a delightful afternoon of video viewing. I began with Thursday night's rerun of THE OFFICE. It was the Valentine's Day episode, one of my all-time favorites. Enjoyed so much seeing it again.
-
Then came WHIRLPOOL. What an ingenious movie! It fell apart just a bit at the end, but for the first 2/3, it was very skillfully put together plot-wise, and all of the performances were just fine. Nice to see Jose Ferrer playing bad before he won his Oscar and became a leading man.
And I assume this was the print used for the DVD transfer because it looked superb.
-
Finished the afternooon rewatching CONSPIRACY, the Kenneth Branagh-Stanley Tucci starring vehicle about the 1942 meeting that led the Final Solution. Riveting from first minute to last. SUperb performances by all concerned. Colin Firth is particularly memorable, and Branagh won a much deserved Emmy for a commandingly restrained performance.
-
I'll probably put in THE DETECTIVE when I return to viewing tonight prior to prime time TV.
-
All alone, I'm so all alone . . . .
-
A lengthy phone call prevented me from reading in my book earlier today, so I'll do so now. Then, off to clean my bathroom and then on to tonight's slate of TV programs.

Request time:
I would appreciate a copy of the "Jose Walking/Eating" tour. I think maybe DR Dinny or DR CillaLiz had a copy.
My very good friend Lisa will be in New York (at the same time as DP Colin and myself) but will not be "free" at the weekend. This will be Lisa's third stay in NYC so the usual "tourist musts" have been covered.
We are hoping to meet with Lisa when we are there.
An IM would be appreciated - and email then provided.

TD-HAPPY BIRTHDAY![/size]
It's true, you are missed.
-
We are back from the first of my mother-in-law's 90th birthday celebrations. Our nieces and their father (Richard's older brother) did most of the work. After the open house, which was attended by 80+ people, 12 of us went to a buffet restaurant for dinner. Great-nephew Nathan, who was born on his great-grandma's 88th birthday, brought his parents and he amost stole the show from the birthday (minus 4 months) girl. She didn't mind a bit.
-
Jennifer-Hope you are feeling better. There is hope for you. Most of my life I caught every cold, virus, etc there was to get. For some reason, and I’m not complaining, I often don’t get a cold when everyone else around me has been sick.
-
Ginny-I’m so glad you are staying at the Comfort Inn. I’m looking forward to meeting DH Richard.
Pricilla-the hotel doesn’t mind extra guests sleeping on the floor or an air mattress.
-
Jane -- How ironic that we just talked about Susan Butcher!
-
Have fun in NYC Cilla...
-
TCB, did you see my question to you on yesterdays thread?
-
Tomovoz-pretty spring photo.
Colin’s painting is beautiful.
George-I enjoyed all of your photos, lovely roses. It was nice to see FJL, Skip & Penny.
Ginny, nothing like a cute kid to add joy to the occasion. :)
DRLaura-I knew there were two shooters, just hadn’t heard they were working together. So sad but thank goodness they have been stopped.
-
TCB-I had to go check the news. How sad-way too young. When we saw her 11 years ago she had just had a baby.
-
Terribly sad indeed about her...
-
Hello Jane!!
-
Wonder what bk will say with a little over 100 posts at this hour???
-
Elmore, I echo your frustrations with Lady M...
I have my dealings with Aunt Vulture! I had nicely gotten back to Fargo and stuff brought in from the car and she called and said that my father should turn the land over to them etc, etc... I hung up... What my dad does with the land is his business...
-
TCB, did you see my question to you on yesterdays thread?
What was the question?
-
What was the question?
If you ever had a mullet?
-
I was on a posting frenzy of 80s fashion and I was all alone and I wondered what you, MattH, Jrand, Tom and FJL would look like in a mullet.
-
Jane and Laura, did you have Mall hair in the 80s?
-
What I find interesting is that some phrases valspeak are still being used...
-
Hi DakotaCelt. :)
Did you say Aunt Vulture (love it) is an aunt by marriage?
-
Ah - i just read the Playbill article... the play sounds a lot like a novel a friend of mine wrote recently...
Actually it isn't as much like the novel as you might think. There is murder and mystery there and the clues are all there etc, but it isn't a hard core who done it, it's more of a valentine to show business.
-
Jane and Laura, did you have Mall hair in the 80s?
As in mullet? Did I miss your description of a Mall do?
-
Hi DakotaCelt. :)
Did you say Aunt Vulture (love it) is an aunt by marriage?
Yes, it is my dad's sister in law... she is a con artist and you have to watch both her and her husband very carefully. I do not trust them
She is also a distant cousin to my dad...
-
EVen better yet Jane, my mother calls her Jaws
-
Cilla did you have Mall Hair in the 80s?
Mall hair was when it was teased and sprayed and literally stiff and tall from hair spray
-
a mullet is short on the sides and top and long in the back
-
I even had photographs of the mullet on one of the last two pages of yesterday's discussion
-
Is your father aware of what is going on?
-
Well, surprise surprise, I'm back in Sioux City. I just got so tired up there and it was just time to leave so I did. My friend leaves tomorrow, but my brother is back from Chicago tonight and they had planned to spend time together, so I decided to come and sleep in tomorrow. I think it was a good choice.
-
Cilla did you have Mall Hair in the 80s?
Mall hair was when it was teased and sprayed and literally stiff and tall from hair spray
No. I never liked mall hair. I was in college, law school and practicing law, not really the place for mall hair
-
Is your father aware of what is going on?
Yes he is and he is going to let her play her game for it has been decided in the will... If he did sell the land it would be to me or my sisters first or to a cousin who rents it and only after my mother dies.
-
he laughs at what we call her
-
I have always hated hair spray & haven't used it since I was 18. A few times since then I have had short hair, mostly I like it left long to longer.
-
Hair spray does not work in my hair really well. I have baby fine hair but a lot of it...
-
I remember when I went into the bathrooms in the dorm you nearly needed a gas mask for the hair spray would be a layer in the air literally
-
It sounds as if your parents have everything in order & the people they care about will be protected from your Aunt Vulture. Amazing she even thinks she has rights over your mother or you & your siblings.
How is your father feeling?
-
He is feeling good but he knows it is only a matter of time.. He wants to continue farming and I am support him on that even though I have a sister that is against the idea.
He has always been a farmer and it is in his blood. I say let him do it as long as he is able to...
He does not qualify for some of the treatments but he wants to try some new treatment a bit to see if it works to at least prolong his life.
Aside from that he is your typical ornery and cantankerous farmer is not happy with the lack of rain...
-
I had thought about going to NYC to meet up with the hainsies but with my dad being uncertain, I dont feel comfortable going. Rochester says weeks to months and Roger Maris Cancer Centre in FArgo is saying 6 to 8 months.
-
He is dealing with it in his own way... Everyone deals with things differently.
-
Back from a nice lunch and a fun little post-cabaret get-together. It looks like I may be directing and putting together two new one-person shows - I'll know for sure by the end of the week, although it seems it's a done deal for both. So, that will be occupying me for the next couple of months and then a bit more after the first of the year. Doesn't pay much, but I enjoy it nonetheless, and I'm fond of the two people involved.
-
Dakota-at least he feels okay, good vibes he stays that way.
I had multiple trips & activities planned prior to my father going into the hospital. If they hadn’t been planned with other couples and pre-paid we would have cancelled. Surprisingly I managed every trip but they weren’t relaxing. My suggestion is not to plan anything you can’t easily cancel.
-
Bruce-did you mean dinner? ;D
-
I need to finish reading this month’s choice for my book discussion group. We are reading THE NAMESAKE by Jhumpa Lhiri. I am not a fan of her writing & just don’t get her popularity.
‘night.
-
If you ever had a mullet?
Actually the closest I ever came was my hair as Buffalo Bill (see picture). I guess you really can't see the back of it.
-
I'm having fun watching the cats. The report is they did well while I was gone. Neither one seemed too excited that I was home, but are now playing in the livingroom with me. I think it's a good sign. They are bonding to each other which is what needed to happen
-
Being fond of those you are working with is worth more than $$ sometimes....if not ALL the time.
Start spreading the news - we have found ONE black actor....and so the show goes on.....as does the search.
-
Happy Birthday to DR (and fellow SS contributor) TD!
-
Good luck with putting together the one-person shows...
You have a great knack for a successful product!

Ugh - I have spent considerable time the past two days rearranging my study corner to incorporate an additional bookcase and to acquire a work space that's not also my computer desk. A lot of dust has been churned up and many papers shredded. Think I'll like the new arrangement, but I need to quit for tonight.

Well, that depends, sometimes a little teasing can be fun;-)

Thanks DR DAKOTACELT.....hopefully we will have our full cast by the end of the week.

All of the posts of course can be put together to make A Tale of Two Kitties.... a companion to the Walty & Kilbot story.

I am hungry.
Hmm I didn't eat tonight, I just realized that. Maybe I'll see what's in the kitchen. I've got to go to the grocery store tomorrow and buy some healthy food. I had already planned to take the day off, so I'm still going to do that. Oh the errands and chores I'll get done
-
Must be surf proof! ::)
I don't think it was her hair that they were afraid would fall.
-
AHHHH!!! My mother is driving me crazy. She keeps telling me how sorry she feels for my cats because I left them for 3 days. Oh PUHLEESE. You can accuse me of a lot of things, but ignoring my cats isn't one of them.
-
Might as well get to 4200

Good evening, fellow Dear Readers. I am still tired from the long drive last night.
Jane, we had two serial killers -- The Baseline Killer (still on the loose) and The Serial Shooter (captured). The Serial Shooter turned out to be two people (a driver and a shooter). So I guess we had THREE killers. The Serial Shooter pair was the one that struck closest to me.
Good news about the kitties, Cillaliz. We knew they'd eventually come around.
I never had any kind of hair or clothing that was in fashion. Not as a teenager, and not now.
-
Well, tomorrow I'll start it..
Good thought. MS O'Hara

I was on a posting frenzy of 80s fashion and I was all alone and I wondered what you, MattH, Jrand, Tom and FJL would look like in a mullet.
I can't speak for the others, but I never had one and never wanted one. Never much liked the style even though, of course, it WAS very popular at one time.

Watched a couple of TV shows in HD, one on DVD, and one film.
I started with THE DETECTIVE.
Wow, has Fox done a wonderful job cleaning this up for DVD. The laserdisc was overly dark and loaded with debris. Though there were a few speckles and scratches, most of it was very clean, sharp, and with good color. I never saw this at the theater, so this is by far the best I have ever seen THE DETECTIVE look.

Serial Killing Suspects Took Turns, Police Say
By CHRIS KAHN, AP
PHOENIX (Aug. 6) - The gunmen took turns as they drove around the city.
Some nights it was Samuel John Dieteman, a burly electrician with a ragged mop of jet black hair. According to court documents, he'd blast at lone pedestrians from the window of a silver Toyota Camry in what he called "random recreational violence."
Other nights the trigger was pulled by his roommate, Dale S. Hausner, a baby-faced janitor and freelance photographer, the court documents allege.
After each shooting, the pair would drive slowly away, leaving little evidence other than the victim's body on a sidewalk.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury: these were kind and generous men - they believed in sharing; and they were model citizens: they did not litter our streets and sidewalks with evidenece!

I think Annette used the ever-familiar comb over so prized by men whose hair is thinning on top to hide their bald spots. She wasn't a man and she wasn't growing bald (obviously on both points), but that was a trademark of hers.
-
Because I only had about 20 minutes before the start of network TV, I put in an episode from Season 5 of FRIENDS.
This was the one where Joey had a girl friend who punched him in the arm all the time. Very good show.
-
Page Seven Scrooge McDuck Dance!!!
-
The COLD CASE rerun was an episode I had not seen from this past season, a bit different from their usual episode as the killer came through the door in the opening scene and confessed to the crime.
The killer was played by the always wonderful Zeljko Ivanek.
-
I finished up the evening with GREY'S ANATOMY, another wonderful episode. Stephen Spinelle was the top billed guest star playing a writer who was so frustrated by his latest work that he ate it. Other storylines were equally absorbing and several very moving.
No wonder this show was voted Program of the Year by the Television Critics Association.

I agree Ginny, there is ALOT of aquanet in her hair. However, she is an attractive lady...
-
Off to slumberland now.
Good night!

I think Matt was on in Season 7 on Friends on the Episode that was named "The one with the soap party."
-
Even funnier, Matt has worked with Jennifer Aniston's father, John on both Search for Tomorrow and on Days.

no one has posted in over an hour....

Well, I had a fun day today
After going to work for numerous hours and reading more of Kritzertime (Im now halfway through) I went to a party thrown for us tireless volunteers of Hollywood Heritage at the Wattles Mansion and Gardens. The whole event was very nice, with wine (which I did not drink), cheese and crackers (which I did not eat) and laurel and hardy screenings in the dark of the night.
While the party was breaking up we heard a series of howls and woots from the Mountain above us, and then a cats Screech, and a Cacophony of hoots from what we supposed were wild cayotes tearing a cat to shreds. One minute later they abruptly ended. it was a very poignant ending to a wonderful night.

I will post pictures when I get them developed. I have one with Betty Lasky. I also found out that a good friend of mine Marc Wannamaker, a respected historian, was a musician in The First Nudie Musical! Just a fun fact for me.
-
Sounds like an interesting evening Adriana...
-
Wonder if I could get this to 200 posts....
-
Miss Patti, Mr. Wanamaker has done a lot of work with me - he not only plays the drums on the movie-within-the-movie songs in Nudie, he's also in the film briefly. He played drums on several of my shows and can be heard on the Stages cast album.
-
Back from Issaquah, and now to catch up on the important things in life, like HHW and the trivia contest.
-
I'm back from Issaquah, also, but I had a lot less distance to travel. ;)
Anyway, today's two shows were both VERY GOOD! ;D But before the end of today, I must post the only picture that I took of me and Penny togther. It was about 10:00 p.m., and we were outside. I turned on the flash on my phone/camera but it still didn't turn out quite right. I tried to adjust the picture a bit, but this is as good as I could get it:
-
I was holding the phone myself. ::) It looked fairly decent when it was still on the phone, but on a computer monitor...not so good.
-
And since we still have time...
-
And we're almost to 200 posts...
