Opening night went well. I haven't heard directly from Anthony yet. There was a party last night and he didn't get home until late so I had an e-mail this morning. He created some elaborate opening night gifts. They were small watering cans filled with various things related to The Fantasticks. He wanted to get kumquats but none of the stores in the Fort Atkinson area had any. One of his friends asked the produce manager at one of the stores if he could get some but no luck. Even without the kumquats the gifts and cards were a hit. He loved my flowers and my card. He had a spate of Midwestern winter weather though. There was an ice storm and he had to use the de-icer to open the door to the car and he spent lots of time scraping ice off the windshield.

Makes me think of the scene in "It's A Gift," with the angry customer wanting his kumquats!

I think I saw Jim Carrey being funny once. The rest of the time I've seen him, I find him very unfunny. Very.

He was funny when he first started,  (his impression of Michael  Landon smiling was especially clever) and he was good in "Doing Time on Elm Street."

Did anyone see Jake on SNL when he came out (no pun intended) in full "Dreamgirls" drag and sang (I think) "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going"?  He was actually quite good!

They even show that clip during Musical Monday's at Splash now.  -Along with Jennifer Hudson's and Jennifer Holliday's renditions.

Has anyone else read this item?

Jim Carrey, Jake Gyllenhaal tapped for musical, 'Damn Yankees'

Yep.

Carrey and Gyllenhaal to Star in Contemporary Film Version of Damn Yankees

"...The film will attempt to inject a contemporary feel into the 1950s musical, according to the trade paper."

-Shades of A-Rod and company, possibly?

As long as they keep the scenes in the locker room.

They probably will, but it will all be done with CGI.

our share of charming & useless contractors.

That's the title of the next installment of my autobiography...  CHARMING & USELESS.    :)

That reminds me of the line from Into the Woods:  "I was raised to be charming, not sincere."

If any DRs have been experiencing problems with their Time-Warner Cable-Internet service over the past week, THIS may explain things.

I like this part:

We are deploying more hardware and software, and wetware (human) resources to handle the increased load during attacks...

;D

It has been widely discussed in the trades.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

Oh, don't sweat it.  Your secret is still safe....for now.

Really?  You read that as a personal "you" instead of "U" which is merely a play on words for punning sake?

I used to have this CD, but I haven't been able to find it for a long time.

I hate it when that happens.  And invariably, if I buy a replacement, the original immediately and inevitably resurfaces!   :P

That doesn't always happen to me, but have you seen how much it would cost to replace this CD?? :o

I also like that that statement from Time-Warner was posted via http://a.longreply.com who's slogan is "when 140 characters is not enough" or "Sometimes 140 characters does not cut it" - which is a reference to Twitter which limits posts to 140 characters.  You type your "long reply" into a.longreply.com, and when you hit Save, it provides you with a shorter hyperlink to your reply.

I have received the following from ROMANIAN ANIMAL RESCUE.  The wonderful woman who began this group lives in California.  She has sent a request to take a poll in a Romanian newspaper at http://www.obiectivbr.ro/

Obiectiv Poll--Take Action NOW!

Here is a poll on the best solution for the street dogs in the city of Braila. Your comments are more important than votes. Comments in English will be highly regarded.

    * Euthanasia (Euthanasia has been banned in Romania since Jan 2008, but the newspaper is known for its anti-animal, anti-dog attitude.)
    * Spay/neuter and release on the streets
    * Capture and impound (Dog pounds in Romania are equal to sentencing the animals to death by starvation and misery. It is a waste of public money, while the uncontrolled breeding of yard dogs and pets and dog abandonment is the unstoppable source of the street dogs.)

Please go to their poll and vote on this issue. THE OPTION TO CHOOSE IS #2: SPAY/NEUTER AND RELEASE ON STREETS. Once you have voted, please leave comments by clicking on "Adauga Comentarii". Your comments are very insightful and important for the animals' welfare. The poll is in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The left button "Vot" casts your vote, the right button "Rezultate" shows the results of the vote at the bottom of the page.

Capture and impound is a terrible choice for the dogs. Dog cannibalization is a common occurrence in dogpounds, like NGO Horez. The dogcatchers are paid by Braila city hall for "animal protection".

The letter came with videos of the dog catchers at work and the dogpounds.  I chose not to post them, nor have I opened them.

Originally when this current budget crisis hit our state government, one of the suggestions that our governor proposed was asking all state employees to take one day off without pay during each pay period.  She said that this would probably eliminate the need for full lay-offs.  I don't know what happened to that idea (although I imagine the union shot it down); so instead we have had one round of lay-offs with another one due before the end of June.

One of the six positions for my job was eliminated, and we are hoping and praying that an upcoming retirement will stop the ax from falling on our job group again.

And it's work instead of play.

Wish the movies would start burning.
Or at least they would upload.

Our Kritzerland soundtrack release, unless I'm completely adding wrong, is going to be over seventy minutes long.

But thanks to DR JOSE I can open as many FIREFOX and SAFARI windows as i wish.  I have learned to click and drag my photos.

Some things have escaped me and continue to do so....but I am getting there....somewhere.

So much happening on HHW today!

DR VIXMOM in Richard III Act IV Scene IV, both Elizabeth and Margaret have some strong speeches that are not much heard in or out of the classroom......
