Got some lobster salad from Gelson's for my light evening snack, plus I have some grapes for later.  I'm watching Cannery Row, a film I rather liked back when it was released but now a film that is making my teeth hurt.

I am on-line earlier than I expected. I didn't know how much time to give myself to write up my feelings about FRIDAY THE 13th Part 3, and I was over-generous in regards to time. ANyway, I should be able to get to bed earlier tonight after a long day.

I did watch both the 3-D and 2-D versions of FRIDAY THE 13th, Part 3. In the theater back in 1982, the 3-D worked very well giving a little sense of fun to the repetitive murder gimmick that by the third film had long since worn out its welcome with me.

The anaglyph system just doesn't work all that well here, and there is lots of ghosting instead of solid 3-D dimensionality. I haven't seen the film since 1982, but I was surprised how much I remembered. This was the last FRIDAY movie I ever went to see to review. I might have watched portions of Part 4 on TV, but I can't remember. They're all the same at this stage of the production of the sequels. I hope Paramount doesn't do any more of the deluxe editions for DVD release. I've had enough of them.

By the way, the 2-D version used a dated transfer that looked soft with blah color.

Before I headed upstairs to start on that review, I watched the first episode of MOONLIGHT (courtesy of DR JMK). A very enjoyable first episode. How I miss this show! I really loved the character of Mick St. John.

Tomorrow, my work project will be Criterion's next release: THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL.

And no, I don't plan to watch the Super Bowl. I didn't even watch it the year the Panthers got to play.

You ate all those in one day?

Um... Maybe I did.  And maybe I did.  ;)

*Yes, I know I most definitely "splurged" today, but calorically speaking, I probably came in just about "right".

**And I walked six miles too.

Of course, you could always buy some fatback and render your own.  Or just stop by a bodega for a container of manteca.

Do you know how much fatbak you need to render to get 2lbs of lard! (Not to metion to cost of running the electric oven.)

No bodega in this part of the county.

That blueberry cream cookie looks so good - and I'm sure the benefits of the fruit outweigh the detriments of everything else.

Well I am home from a wonderful dinner with 7 of my friends from Florida, One had to bow out at the last minute as he got a job working at Disney in Orlando for the weekend and that right now is more important than a dinner.

It is a wonderful day and it is winding up. 26 minutes to go.

I received an email from my friend Julie in LA. We first met when she did he TV variety series in Montreal. She told me recently received several DVDs worth of episodes, Unfortunately not among them was my television debut where she sang a song to me. I l Love You Because You're Trash.

I am hoping the sketch I did with Henny Youngman is among them

Well... I thought the cookie was actually the richest of the treats I sampled today.  It really caught me by surprise.  I knew the cookie was made with butter and cream, but I didn't think I would actually taste all that butterfat right off the bat.

*But, yes, the anti-oxidants in the blueberries counteract any of the supposedly bad stuff.  -And, remember, it was made with all-natural butter and cream, not some hydrogenated, over-processed vegetable shortening. ;)

County - there are bodegas further west where the farm workers and chicken processors live.

My favorite line uttered by Peter O'Toole in a movie

[Alan Swann has blundered into the wrong restroom]
Lil: This is for ladies only!
Alan Swann: [unzipping fly] So is *this*, ma'am, but every now and then I have to run a little water through it.

Oooh!  the birthday boy mentioned two performances I had forgotten about!

HOW TO STEAL A MILLION and THE STUNT MAN! (not to be confused with a character in a Bruce Kimmel musical).

The book signing went very well.

Sorry, no pictures.

Met some very interesting people, including a lady who was in vaudeville in London during WW2.

DR Druxy - Good to hear that your reading went well. Do you have anything scheduled for the East Coast? NYC?

Nothing on the East Coast.  I'm going to do another signing in Los Angeles on February 27th at the A Different Light bookstore, then I have to concentrate 100% on the move to Austin.
