Well, you've read the notes, your collective minds are boggled, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're off somewhere saying whew instead of moo.

And the word of the day is: PURSY!

Smoke on your pipe and put that in!  And use it in a sentence without looking it up.

"PURSY, PURSY, Please have mercy."

from The Boy Friend.  Of course, the character of Percy has a different spelling, but it's a sentence. ;) I played the role of Lord Brockhurst in a local production, in 1990.  I was 24 years old and the woman who played Dulcie was 37!  That was my very first stage kiss! ;D

Sports:  Growing up, I never liked playing any sports and watching sports never interested me, either.  A couple of years ago, however, my niece became very interested in women's basketball, specifically the Seattle Storm team.  I've had to drive her to quite a few games over the last few years and I must admit that they're pretty fun to go to (it's never as fun to just watch on TV...unless they're in the play-offs).  Anyway, I really got into them and was quite excited when they won, and a little sad when they didn't.

What's really nice about the Storm fans is that they're so polite!  I mean, I've never really seen anyone yell obscenities at the visiting teams or the referees.  When the team loses, the fans don't get angry, they collectively feel bad for the team and are very supportive.  I don't know if it's specific to the Seattle Storm team or women's basketball versus mens, but I've never heard of anything like that in any men's sports.

DR MattH, it yesterday's posts you mentioned that you found what Veronica Mars is doing this week gimmicky! (they are having 2 endings to the show, one will be shown on tv, the other online, and viewers will vote on the ending they want).

I actually love this idea. Although I wish that they would show both endings on tv, and then let us vote online.  I am very curious to see what kind of power they will give the viewer.  Will it be some trivial thing we get to vote on? Or will it be something substantial that will change the course of the show?

I wonder because haven't they written and even filmed the next shows yet? Although with Christmas break, maybe the show won't be on for a few weeks.

Let me get this, a man who appeared in HELL'S BLOODY DEVILS has recorded a CD?  Where would one find such a thing, and what songs would he sing?

More than 25 years ago, we saw a young Wayne Gretzky play in his first season with the WHL....when his team came to play the Indianapolis Racers!  It was an exciting game, and Gretzky was great!!!  He scored three goals that night, the first time I had ever seen anyone Hat Trick!

On tv....hmmmm.....there was that FLyers game that went into FIVE overtimes!!!  Whew!

a nifty CD by singer/actor John Gabriel who I just saw tonight in HELL'S BLOODY DEVILS....he sort of looked a LOT like John Gavin. Nice voice. Nice face.

Mr. John Gabriel recorded  "Keep Christmas with You" on  A HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS, produced by our very own BK. A fine arrangement and a great song.

Didn't have to wait long for THAT answer.  I have A Broadway Christmas, so I think I will have to look for it's cousin, A Hollywood Christmas.  :D

I'm not big on sports, either, but I remember going to Pirate baseball games at Forbes Field and seeing Bill Mazeroski play. (To quote a local commercial, "It's a 'burgh thing").
The most memorable sporting event I attended, however, was not as a spectator, but as part of the half-time entertainment at a Steelers' opening game at Three Rivers Stadium.  A dozen of actors were engaged as DANCERS! to perform 1950's dances on the field.  We made our entrances in twelve classic cars, then as Pittsburgh legendary d.j., Porky Chedwick, spun some discs, we danced. . .My partner was my dear friend (and playwright) Coni Congoli-Koepfinger.  All of us had rehearsed together for a week, rough when you're not really a dancer.
To me the fascination was being in the "back stage" areas of Three Rivers Stadium - the locker rooms, the offices - and making that exciting entrance perched on top of the back seat of a yellow convertible!  Dad, who had a Steelers season subscription for as long as I can remember,  was in the stands for the game and he brought along our Bell & Howell 8mm camera, so there are actually films of this particular half-time show.

Good morning!

Not a pretty day here at all. It's cold, a bit drizzly, and just in general kind of a yuck day. Perfect for staying inside and watching movies/TV.

Most definitely!  It also contains Linda Purl's gorgeous "Silver Bells."
And Guy Haines croons "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Well, in all honesty, it's a great album!

Everyone in my family was a sportsperson except me (and my dad eventually made me join the local swimming team which I enjoyed and did well in but never liked sports competition much.)

But, because they all LOVED sports, I was dragged to college and pro football, basketball, baseball, hockey, boxing, golf. Ugh! It all sort of blends in my mind after all these years.

In my own area of sports interest (figure skating), I think the face off between the two Brians - Boitano and Orser in the 1988 Winter Olympics was the most thrilling competition I ever saw on TV.

Today on the movie front, I want to finish SPANGLISH first. Then, I'm going to watch one of the Shirley Temple films just released, probably REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM. After that, probably MY NAME IS BARBRA.

DR Jennifer, the business of voting for the preferred ending for that VERONICA MARS episode reminds me of the three endings offered for the movie CLUE.

If a show (and I'm talking the movie CLUE here) can offer the same clues and come up with three totally different scenarios as a solution to the mystery it's generated, then the mystery wasn't tightly written or very good to begin with.

Now, I'll withold any further negativity until I actually SEE the episode, but that was my initial feeling when I saw the stuff about internet voting on the endings.

And for fans of MONK, there is a new episode this coming Friday at 10 p.m.

No, it's not back on airing new episodes yet. This is a special holiday edition before it starts its new season (in January, I think).
