I saw that about Susan Boyle. Honestly, her performance of "Memory" made me think she was truly a one-trick pony. Yes, she was nervous, but even after she calmed down, the song didn't seem ideally suited for her voice. "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" might have been a better ALW choice for her.

No, DR CP - Gary Cooper in DESIRE is only available on VHS or a Region Two DVD at the present. I was most disappointed that it was not included in the Gary Cooper Box Set from a few years ago, or even the Marlene Dietrich BOX!

Something to look forward to.

I keep looking at the clearance SAMSUNG Blu RAY player for $198.....I may go tomorrow and get it if it is still there.....on line specs say that it will play DVD-R, but I am afraid......

Zabriskie Point is on DVD, not Blu-Ray, but nothing could help this sorry film. With the exception of the completely meaningless role that Rod Taylor plays, everyone else in the film is an amateur.

FB is in the midst of another batch of tinkering. I've been noticing small changes every few days.

I very much enjoyed the Ron Raines MAN OF LA MANCHA cd - very nice to have the whole show on CD....I also liked Kim Criswell as Aldonza, too.

I have noticed on the original BC CD and on this one, The Quest is shorter than the version that Brian Stokes Mitchell did on the revival cast album. The choral book part I have now has the shorter version....but can there be TOO much Quest? I am seriously considering doing it as it was done in the revival. hMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm

Well... Stokes wanted a key change. For better or worse. So...

I didn't mind it when I saw the show, but it did sort of pull me out of the show for a bit. It became more of a vocal showcase than a "quest".

And he backphrased, which makes the "look at me, I'm not a great baritone but folks think I'm a star" all the worse!

DR JRand58, the materials from Tams-Witmark reflect the original show. I dount they'll redo the edition simply because the star wanted to milk the moment when it's worked for 40 years without his aid.

OK, off to the pharmacy. Four string parts to go!

What we have not had is any time to go see UP. What with work, and prepping for Dad and Stepmom coming for a visit, we simply haven't had time.

Maybe we'll be able to squeek it in tomorrow, after his doctor's appointment. It'll be nice, to see a movie about someone older than he is.

Fascinating about why people aren't seeing Up, whereas lots of people here were first in line for other Pixar films. It was the same with Wall*E. I'm anxious for reports. Also more fascinating that no one here seems to have ever had a romantic evening. You know, special person, special meal, dancing - you've seen movies, I'm sure, so I'm equally sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.

While UP is rated PG, I'm certain you can watch it without your chaperones and not suffer any emotional trauma.

It's the PG-13 films I don't think they should let you see.
