That's exactly what is happening where I work now.  I'm just praying that 8 years of service will put me above the cut line.

I'm thinkin' that these animated avatars are not so good for the site - can we please change them to non-animated avatars, i.e. ones that don't move?

Done.

Elan, as a veteran of two midnight to mid-morning (as in 3 a.m.) "Honey, I think my water's broken" wake-up calls, sometimes inducements have their up-side.  ;)

Not if you are the one who is induced, after hours/days and hours of labor!  And then it still takes hours & hours of labor before the kid finally arrives, with additional assistance!

Of course, with a c-section, you can skip labor altogether.

I watched this program shortly after it's original broadcast a few weeks ago.  And I've actually watched it already a few more times.  The PBS affiliate out of DC was running different "American Masters" programs back to back on Thanksgiving Day, and I ended up watching it again before the big dinner.  And then again on Friday.  And now I think I'll finally pick up that "Carol Burnett Sings" CD I keep spying at Virgin.

The local affiliate has also broadcast the Carol Burnett one several times also.

I really enjoyed it. I have always enjoyed her and she has a great spirit.

I began watching the Carol Burnett AMERICAN MASTERS program. I'm only about 40 minutes in, but I love that it's not a chronological biography of her life. We keep going back and forth between recent, mid-career, and early Carol, and it really keeps my interest up this way.

How great to see some of the singing clips from her show (as well as the two MATTRESSS productions) since it doesn't appear we're likely to ever get them on DVD.

Yea (about the MATTRESS clips)!  I was able to record this, but I have no idea when I'll be able to watch it. :-\

At least we're opening tomorrow night and I'll soon have a few weekday evenings off!!

We also had an interesting series broadcast here on our local PBS about the Canadian perspective to WW2 called The War in Canada in Colour.

They had a narrator and colour film images pieced together to tell the story. It was well done. I suspect Jennifer has seen or heard about this. It was originally done a few years back.

There was one clip in the show I found rather interesting and that was of the visit of George and Elizabeth to canada. Some of my Canadian relatives sent my great-aunt several momentos from that visit and I inherited them when she passed away.

He also put on there I am on narcotics (err over the counter Tylenol is a narcotic?  :o ) for pain.

He dated my return to work as 12/15/07 and then crossed that out and put 12/03/07 (est).

DR Danise, are you sure your doctor's not on drugs?

Happy to hear you're feeling better  ;) Did you tell him about your homemade remedies for your cough? (choke, choke)

OH!  And I'll be seeing Liz Callaway tomorrow night at The Metropolitan Room.

BK - Would you like me to pass on and special greeting to her?

I am now using the last minute or so of her song "The Beat Goes On" (recorded by our very own BK) as my phone ringtone!  It's a great clip!  I edited and uploaded it into my phone, myself. :)

Anyone know the group Weather Report?

The song "Birdland" as recorded by The Manhattan Transfer was based on Weather Report's original instrumental version.  Both are fabulous!  There was a Playboy Jazz concert done in the 1980s where TMT and WR performed the song together.  Talk about incredible! ;D

Speaking of little things, we've been given a final deadline on our new arrival. If the kid don't get the lead out and make his/her debut before this Tuesday, then they're gonna go in and get him/her... (pretty nice Hannukah present, but we'd rather not have to deal with a C-section...  :-\). All "go-into-labor-before-Tuesday-but-preferably-after-Saturday" vibes sent to The Lovely Wife(tm) would be much appreciated...

Of the three Weather Report CDs I've listened to, the best is Heavy Weather, which has the song Birdland.

Topic of the Day:

Movies that I've seen a lot (and mainly on video or DVD):
1776 and Independence Day (we switch off every year watching these two movies on July 4th)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (only once live)
Scrooge with Albert Finney (we watch this every Christmas season!)
Singing In the Rain
Some Like It Hot
Wizard of Oz

Shows that I've seen many times:
Children of Eden
Little Shop of Horrors (different productions)
Once On This Island
The Rocky Horror Show (three different productions...and another one coming up)
A Rock 'n' Roll Twelfth Night (many performances between three productions)
and I saw the new Young Frankenstein musical in Seattle twice! ;)

And now, a word from our sponsor...  Well, from currently Errant & Truant DR Jason.  He's having web-issues right now, so he's asked me to post this here.  It's the schedule for the rest of his tour of A Christmas Carol.  He's not  exactly sure if all of the performances are open to the public - some of them are booked for school and other groups - but he's not privy to that info in advance.  So, if you happen to be nearby and want to attend, you should probably call the venue in advance.

Thanks DR Jane. My sister (Danise's other niece) bulldozed her way into the exam room and viewed the sonogram with the parents-to-be. Talk about a pushy grandma! Anyway, its been reported that it is a boy and he is going to be a gymnast scoring high in tumbling. His first picture is where he has his legs spread wide open--lol.
