Well now we know why TomofOz keeps shouting "Ride 'em, cowboy."  (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Tuesday greetings!  It's cold and rainy here in SW Ohio and I'd rather be home eating one of my favorite comfort foods - chili.  However, I have to be here at work 4 days this week before my glorious 9-day vacation.  So I'm sitting at my desk eating another of my fcf's - mint M & M's.

Read the review of LESTAT furnished by DR Ron in his link.

How funny that the actor the critic was most enthusiastic for was Carolee Carmello whom the VARIETY critic found adequate but nothing special.

I guess I'll be heading down now to clean the living room and watch some other things prior to network TV kicking in for me tonight at 9 p.m.

See the difference between politicians then and now?  At least the Governor of Texas back then had truth in advertising--his first name was Price.  :)

Wow!  All hell is breaking loose in the media today about the author of "A Million Little Pieces."  I think I'll write a sensational memoir and publish it.

A Million Little Pieces....I was thinking Warren Beatty would use that as the title of his autobiography.  :o

Today, the thought of a margarita does nothing for me, but macaroni and cheese sounds like heaven!  By Friday, I shall be ready for one or two, I do hope, and DR TPunk, we have to do our movie on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  I'll even buy your ticket for your birthday!

I'm so glad that you'll be there!!

I thought it was interesting that the older daughter didn't know/couldn't tell that he wasn't who she thought he was!

Does she even know for sure that she is psychic?  I don't know that they've ever discussed it directly with her.

JRand - I wasn't at the party, only at the show.   Though I chatted with a lot of people who were sitting around us, it was very crowded and hard to maneuver through the people.  So I basically hung out with the friend I went with for a good part of intermission, although she had the guts to walk right up and congratulate Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Of course, after the show, I had to get back home in time to be able to send timely vibes for DECEIT.

Jrand, anything after 1954 should be in the 1:85 ratio, because that is how it was most likely projected in the US.  While you might argue that a few Academy ratio (1:33) films could slip by, by 1956 there is nothing that wouldn't have been framed for either flat (1:85) or Cinemascope projection.  So, War of the Colossal Beast should most certainly be 1:85, just like Beginning of the End is on its DVD.

Vixmom - At the bar, there was unlimited free champagne, although relatively small glasses, and people I recognized but who shall remain nameless were guzzling their glass and going back for seconds and thirds, even taking two at a time and drinking both themselves.  (You might say that champagne was guzzled by some until they could guzzle no more, and then they guzzled again.)  But it was crowded and some champagne was spilled, so I rushed away from the bar lest I go home smelling like a distillery.

bk -  Forgot to mention how sad I was to see that Aron's was closing.  It's always one of my MUST stops when I'm down that way.  I did take advantage of the sales, though, and picked up your Trotter Trio/Michel Legrand CD, which I didn't really know existed.   I was also sad to see that the McDonalds on the corner of Highlands and Sunset was gone, it was always fun to see as it was never a normal looking McDonalds.  What is happening to that area???

Speaking of chard - today I made some red chard and potatos for the DP and I.  It's very simple - cook down the chard (red or otherwise) until it's wilted but not brown, while that is steaming, heat up some potatos (I used the microwave) until they are soft (as many as you want).  Drain the water from the chard, chop parsley and garlic, put the chard back in the pan add some olive oil, the chopped parsley and garlic and slice the potatos in and heat it up, add salt and pepper - and you have a FABULOUS side dish!

I think some of my "emotions" from yesterday carried over to today.  It took me a while to get into gear, and I sort of felt a little off-kilter for most of the day.

The "brat mat" went well, however, there were a lot of empty seats.  I began to think that a school bus or two had gotten lost or was running late - it's happened before - but it just turned out that not as many school groups bought tickets for today's performance.  -The mid-week Noon matinees are usually sold out.  We're in the round, and it looked liked most of the East and West sides were empty, but North and South were full.  So...  But it was a good show.

Right after the matinee, I headed out for a run.  And I mean right after the show.  I started changing into my running clothes during the second act book scenes, so that by the time I finished the Exit Music, all I had to do was turn off my keyboard and run out the stage door.  Wheeeeee!

It wasn't cold outside, but it was a little cool.  However, about five minutes into my run, I was feeling pretty warm.  Arena is right by the Tidal Basin, and just a few blocks from the Jefferson Memorial.  It was very cool running around that area.  I'm hoping that weather will be nice on Thursday - it's supposed to be - and take a longer run around the Tidal Basin.  All in all, I got a good half hour in before our put-in rehearsal...

Our swing, Sean, went on for today's matinee, but we had a rehearsal with our newest cast member, Craig, after the post-show Q&A (I went running during that).  He did an amazing job.  In just over two hours, he learned practically the whole show choreographically.  -He had a music rehearsal yesterday with the conductor.  So... We have a put-in rehearsal tomorrow afternoon from 1:00-5:00, and he may actually go on tomorrow night.  Otherwise, he'll definitely step in Thursday night.  Go, Craig!

And that was my at Arena Stage.

;)

OH!!!  There was a package waiting for me at the Stage Door when I got in today.  And it's sitting in front of me now...  And I'm trying my hardest to resist from devouring the box of goodies in one fell swoop...

Thank you, DR Jane!
