Walking is good.

NCIS is on tonight followed by THE AMAZING RACE.  And sooner or later, TCM has to run out of Robert Mitchum movies.

How is it that 24 hours of Robert Mitchum seems so much longer than 24 hours of Greta Garbo?

Hi all, I had a busy day. I started out with Danise, Ginny Vixmon and the vixter at American Girl, then headed off on my own. I went to Tiffany's, then wandered over to Serendipity III where I had a marvelous chicken blt on rye (Catcher on the Rye) and one of their famous frozen hot chocolates. Then I headed to the park and went to the zoo, apparently missing the others there by minutes.  I took a bicycle rickshaw tour of the park and did the CNN tour.

Then I headed back to the hotel and met Ben, elmore and Jane on the street, so I walked over to the Shubert with them and on the way.....got hit by a speeding bicycle messenger who ran a red light.  Luckily his handlebars hit my stomach and the fat cushioned the blow.  Seriously it surprised me more than anything, I am fine, but it was a strange experience.   I went back to the hotel to get ready for the evening and Ginny and I decided to head to Ollie's where we knew the rest of the group was going for dinner.  It was fun to see everyone.

I went to Wicked, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I knew the music, but didn't know the twist at the end. What fun!

I'm back and the internet isn't working in my room so I'm in the lobby, ugh! Hopefully the wireless will work in my room later. I'm not going to sit down here in my nightgown!

As the others have mentioned, I met the gang at One Shubert Alley. -Where it also turned out that one of my former students is now working, and he just got engaged too.  -I didn't ask whether his betrothed was a woman or a man.  ;)

In any case...

It was great finally getting to meet DR Jane.  Such a wonderful lady.  Alas, since I was heading down to the Village, I did not stay for dinner at Ollie's, but something tells me we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other better tomorrow.

So... Just remember...

9:30
Rockefeller Center
On the Plaza "behind" Prometheus

If you happen to be running late, just give me or someone else a call.  I think we have each other's cell phone numbers more or less - I have everyone's at least (if you filled out The Questionnaire).  If everyone is there at 9:30, we will depart at 9:30 - or earlier.  Otherwise, we will wait until about 9:40.

Wear comfortable shoes.
Wear a layer or two - It's supposed to be warm, but the temps have been dipping with the setting of the sun.
Bring your umbrella.

*I do want to take a "Before" picture at Rockefeller Center, as well as down at the Lower East Side subway station where some DRs will be joining us. Get those cameras ready.  Don't forget to recharge those batteries!

SNOW WHITE and CINDERELLA are okay.  But for me SLEEPING BEAUTY will always be the animated Disney fairy tale closest to my heart.

I agree with you totally, DR JRand. SLEEPING BEAUTY has always and will always be my favorite. Every time I watch it, the depth and complexity of the animation just blow me totally away.

After I finished SNOW WHITE this evening, I put in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, the Tom Cruise movie version.

The first one was not enhanced for widescreen TVs by Paramount, but it still looks and sounds mighty fine, and I thoroughly enjoyed about 40 minutes of it.

I got a bookcase full of DVDs I haven't watched yet, but for some reason, today and tonight I wanted to watch some old favorites.

Once I get CINDERELLA tomorrow, I'm sure I'll watch it immediately.

DR Elmore, any chance if Skip and I beg and plead enough that you'd be able to take a quick break and stop by our place for just a little while tomorrow during the late afternoon happy hour?  I know you're in a crazy work period, but you will need a break at some point late afternoon.  And the food looks great.

Did I mention there'll be FREE FOOD???

Looking forward to seeing folks tomorrow, either during happy hour or at dinner, or both.

Well.. You can definitely blame me tonight for the ATTACK OF THE WUSSBURGERS WITH CHEESE... With a side of CURLY FRIES...

...About 12 hours from now, we should be heading towards and through Chinatown...

So...

Goodnight.

For some strange reason, my local WB station did not flip the switch to broadcast SUPERNATURAL in high definition (this always makes me furious because it's just a simple switch, but the engineer just forgets, or goes on an extra long coffee break.)

In standard definition, the show seemed drained of color and much less suspenseful. The monster this week (a demon spirit that required an exorcism) was much less eerie (though the black eyes its victims would get were momentarily creepy).

And I tried calling the station. Of course, all I got was a recorded message saying when their business hours were. Argh! I'm firing off an agitated e-mail in just a few minutes.

Then came Mariska Hargitay's big dramatic episode on L&O:SVU. I was a bit underwhelmed after all of the build-up.

But then, any SVU episode that has Christopher Meloni totally missing never rates very highly with me.

I noticed that Target is having a sale this week on selected TV season boxed sets. They have both SMALLVILLE (season 1) and LOIS AND CLARK (Season 1) for $18.88. I noticed things for shows I have never watched like GILMORE GIRLS and ONE TREE HILL, but the sale ad said other series were also reduced, so I'll be checking those out on the shopping trip tomorrow.
